AUGUST 5th 2016 TOMATOTALK SUMMER BBQ By: Cynthia Boekestijn There were plenty of cold drinks, Marcel grilled the Polish sausages and kebabs, and some of the The packaging facility held their annual summer barbecue on Friday 22 July. Because the weather ladies from the packaging facility prepared some delicious salads (thank you, ladies!). was so good that week, we couldn t let the opportunity to fire up the barbecue pass us by. All afternoon and evening the sun shone straight onto the roof terrace, and the evening finished
off with music and dancing. everyone for making it such a fun event and we look forward to the next one! So there were enough ingredients to declare this barbecue a resounding success. Thanks to LOOYE KWEKERS AT THE VAREND CORSO From Friday 5 to Sunday 7 August, the whole of the Westland area will be heading for the canals to watch the Varend Corso. This event attracts many tens of thousands of visitors from the region and beyond every year. THE LOOYE KWEKERS TOUR DE FRANCE SWEEPSTAKE 2016 By: Mark van der Wilt After much consideration, Tour de France fans once again put together their favourite tour teams. We organised our first ever Tour sweepstake last year, and this year saw the second edition. Last year s winner, Frank Hoogeveen, was way ahead during the first week of the sweepstake. But this didn t worry the real connoisseurs. They remembered last year s result very clearly: Frank was overtaken at the very last moment by Robbert de Jong, based on the final rankings. In the meantime, a new expert from the south of the country, Jorrit, arrived on the scene. He was firmly established at the top of the Looye Kwekers Tour sweepstake for the duration of the three week Tour and didn t relinquish this position to his nearest rivals once, on the way to Paris. Interestingly, he gained the support of two very close marketing colleagues in this top position: Niels and Ron. Coincidence? But, as a famous cyclist once said: Paris is still a long way away. Right up to the last day, it was a nail-biting wait to find out who would be crowned the winner of the sweepstake. After 20 days of competing, numbers 1 and 2 had exactly the same number of points. So it was clear that the sprint on the Champs Elysée would determine the outcome... settled and all the prizes had been handed out, Niels Le Connaisseur Roodenrijs stood on the highest step of the podium. Connaisseur is the French spelling of connoisseur someone who (apparently) knows all about a certain subject. When asked for a quote from the winner, Niels went into thanking mode: I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mark van der Wilt and Robbert for the tips they gave me about putting together my team. Particularly since I don t know any more about cycling than being able to quote the names of Chris Froome, Lance Armstrong and Michael Boogerd. ;-) Well done Niels! Enjoy your Looye Kwekers Tour sweepstake challenge trophy throughout the coming year! After the clouds of dust from the final sprint had
HONEYTOMATOES AT THE FESTIVAL DER GENÜSSE IN COLOGNE of very positive feedback. Only 10% of consumers were familiar with these tomatoes, so we were also able to raise awareness of the brand. We spent three wonderful days with people who are passionate about food. There were food trucks with all kinds of culinary delights, wine tastings, and even someone handing out Fanta. Everyone got to taste, enjoy, mingle and make contacts. People in Cologne are open and positive, and that s partly what makes an event like this so enjoyable. With By: Katja Kamp more than 30,000 visitors, it was also a great success from an organisational point of view. Sunshine was in good supply, we had a top team, setting up went without a hitch, and everyone was in a good mood. In short, the Festival der Genüsse in Cologne was a roaring success not least due to the fact that it was held at a very special location: at the new port outside the famous Schokoladenmuseum (chocolate museum). We handed out around 15,000 Honeytomatoes and got a lot
UPDATE LOOYE OLYMPICS: NEEM JE PARTNER EN KINDEREN MEE By: Niels Honders In previous editions of TomatoTalk, we explained all the sports that will be taking place at the Looye Olympics. Besides the five competition sports of football, volleyball, obstacle course, tug-of-war and sack race, there will be plenty of other fun things to do. As you know, everyone can bring their partners and children with them to the Looye Olympics. Make sure you mention this on your registration form so that the organisers have the right numbers when they order the food and drinks. In addition to the competition sports, everyone will be able to take part in Live Table Football: so even if you aren t competing in all the events, you can still burn off the odd calorie in this fun sport. And we haven t forgotten the children either: there will be a bouncy castle for them to jump about on to their hearts content. All in all, everything is in place to make this a memorable day. The only other thing we need is you! So don t delay register yourself, your partner and your children for the Looye Olympics, even if you don t want to compete yourself. Registration forms are in the canteen. Buses Just as we do for the Looye party, we will be providing several buses to take people to and from Burgerveen. You will find a description of the routes on the next pages. You don t need to register to use the bus, just make sure you are aboard on time!
