Announcement for Nordic Challenge an open competition for boys and men from the Nordic countries Fredrikstad, Norway January 23 rd 25 th, 2015

1. Purpose The purpose of the Nordic Challenge is to unite boys and men of Nordic countries to an arena where they can compete against each other. The competition is created to give them higher levels of motivation, greater competition, as well as giving them the opportunity for new friendships across the Nordic borders. 2. General information The Nordic Challenge will be conducted in accordance with the ISU Constitution and General Regulations 2014, the ISU Special Regulations and Technical Rules for Figure Skating and Ice Dance, as well as all updated ISU Communications. Participation in the Nordic Challenge is open to competitors as follows: Springs boys (FS only) Debs boys (SP/FS) Novice A (SP/FS) Junior (SP/FS) and who qualify with regard to eligibility according to ISU Rule 102, provided their ages fall within the limits specified in Rule 108, paragraph 2b), c) & d) and they meet the participation, citizenship and residency requirements in ISU Rule 109 paragraph 1 through 5, and ISU Communication No. 1420 or any update of the Communication. Passports/EU ID cards of all skaters, as well as the ISU Clearance Certificate, if applicable, must be presented at the registration of the event for verification. 3. 4. Rules The Nordic Challenge will be arranged together with a Norwegian national competition (girls categories debs-senior). The boys from Nordic Challenge will have a priority if the entry is over the set limit of skaters. The competition will be conducted in accordance with the ISU Special Regulations 2014, and the latest updated ISU Communications. Vocal music is accepted for all the categories. The Nordic Challenge is open for boys and men only. The categories included are; Springs, Debs, Novice A and Junior. The rules for Novice A and Junior are according to the ISU program content. Requirements for springs and debs boys Springs, Free skating (Duration of skating, maximum 2.30) Maximum 2 different spins: One of which is an optional spin in one position. Change of foot is optional. Minimum 5 revolutions. One of which must be a combination spin. Change of foot is optional. Minimum 8 revolutions in total. Maximum of 5 jump elements: One must be an Axel-type jump. Maximum 2 jump combinations or sequences. Only one of the combinations/sequences may consist of more than two jumps. Double jumps may be repeated once. Choreographic sequence (ChSq) Debs Debs, Short program (Duration of skating, maximum: 2.30) 1. Axel or double Axel 2. A double jump immediately preceded by connecting steps. Axel jump or jumps from the jump combination may not be repeated. 3. Jump combination consisting of single/double, double/double, triple/double or triple/single jumps. Solo jump and Axel jump may not be repeated. 4. Change camel spin or change sit spin (minimum of 6 revolutions in total). 5. Combination spin with only one change of foot and minimum two changes of position. Flying entrance is permitted. (Minimum 5 revolutions on each foot). 6. Step sequence (StSq)

Debs, Free skating (Duration of skating 3.00 +/- 10 sec.) Maximum of 2 spins: One of which must be a flying spin without change of position (minimum 5 revolutions). One of which must be a combination spin with change of foot. Flying entrance is permitted. (Minimum of 8 revolutions in total) Maximum of 6 jump elements: One must be an Axel-type jump. Maximum 2 jump combinations or sequences. Only one of the combinations/sequences may consist of more than two jumps. Double jumps may be repeated once. Only two jumps with 3 revolutions may be repeated once, but has to be in a combination/sequence Step sequence (Stsq) NB! Norwegian rules and adjustments Springs Debs The skater will achieve a feature for 8 revolutions in the basic position in a sit spin once during the program. The two first falls on a fully or under-rotated double Axel or triple jumps will not be called as a fall. In both short program and free skating there will be given a bonus of 2.0 points if the skater does an Axel or any triple jump with fully or under rotated landing on one foot. It is only possible to achieve the bonus once in each program. There will not be given a bonus if the skater falls or has a step out.

5. Registration of Entries Please e-mail entries to the following address: stevne@fredrikstadkunstlop.net no later than December 16, 2014. 7. Planned Program Content All competitors are kindly requested to submit their planned program sheet to icecalc@fredrikstadkunstlop.net no later than December 16, 2014. The sheet must be submitted in English only, using the official ISU abbreviations listed in ISU Communication 1884. 8. Entry Fee The entry fee for Debs, Novice A and Junior is NOK 700. The entry fee for springs is NOK 400. The fee must be paid no later than December 16, 2014 to: 1040 07 07 443. IBAN: NO18 1040 0707 443 BIC/ SWIFT: DNBANOKKXXX Bank: Dnb Nor Entry fees are not returned in case of withdrawal after December 16, 2014. The entry fee will be returned in case the skater is refused entry. 9. Draw The draw will be done by the organizers, according to Norwegian national regulations on Thursday January 22, 2014.

10. Composition of panels The panel will consist of one (1) referee, three (3) judges, two (2) technical specialists, and one (1) technical controllers. The officals will be Norwegian international and national level officals. 11. Music The Organizer prefer the music sent digitally by email to musikk@fredrikstadkunstlop.net. CD must also be submitted at the ice rink. Music must be provided on CD. CD-RW-s or DVDs will not be accepted. The CD must contain the skater s full name, nation, and category. The CD must be submitted to the organizer at the ice rink. All competitors are requested to keep an extra copy of their music available at the rink during the event. 12. Protests All protests must be submitted according to rule 123. 13. Awards All participants will be provided a prize. 14. Expenses The organizer will not cover any expenses. All expenses must be covered by the participants. 15. Meals All meals exept dinner at Friday must be covered by the participants. Breakfast is included in the hotel fee. There will be possibilities to buy food at the ice rink. 16. Transportation The closest airport is Oslo Airport (Gardermoen). The Airport bus provides transport between Fredrikstad and the airport. The bus ride takes appox.2 hours 10 minutes.. Trains depart between Fredrikstad Station and Oslo Central Station every hour, and takes approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes. There are also trains between Gothenburg and Fredrikstad. They depart twice or three times daily, depending on the day of the week.there are also bus from Copenhagen and Malmö There is a public bus going from the city center which stops close to the ice rink. It takes about 10 minutes. Information will be available at the hotel.

17. Accomodation Rooms can by bookedquality Hotel, Fredrikstad through their website. The hotel may offer a 20 % discount for sport participants. Ask for discount when doing the booking. The hotel is in the city center of Fredrikstad, in walking distance from the bus station and the railway station. 18. Protocol/Results Protocols and results of each category will be published on the web site of the organizer and of the Norwegian Skating Association. 19. Liability In accordance with the ISU Regulations rule 119, the organizer accepts no responsibility or liability with regards to bodily or personal injuries, property loss or damage suffered by the competitors or officials during the event. Participants are expected to provide their own insurance. Such insurance must include full medical attendance and also the return to the home country by air transport or by other expeditious means of the ill or injured person.
