The NYS USBC consists of the current Empire State USBC Bowling Association, the New York State USBC Women s Bowling Association and the New York State USBC Youth Association, and will serve the state s approximately 150,000 USBC-certified bowlers effective Aug. 1. Calling for all bowlers to come together in a spirit of cooperation and unity, Priscilla Pat Zonneville of Marion accepted the position of President of the newly-formed New York State USBC, Inc. at the state association s organizational meeting June 11 at the Carrier Circle Hotel. Zonneville has served as president of the New York State USBC Women s Bowling Association for the past 11 years, and also is chairperson of the Transition Team that coordinated the merger. More than 200 delegates representing New York s United States Bowling Congress local associations gathered together to ratify the new organization s bylaws and elect officers and directors. I am truly humbled as I accept this awesome responsibility, Zonneville said. Many, many thanks to all those who have worked so hard to make this day a reality. Delegates approved the slate of officers and directors put forth by the Transition Team s Nominating Committee. Frank Wilkinson of Staten Island, current president of the Empire State USBC BA, was elected Vice President, and Liz DeHart of Staten Island, current NYS USBC Youth Association sergeant-at-arms, was elected as Sergeantat-Arms. Directors are as follows: Roger Buckman of Farmington, Mike Callan of Rochester, Penny Clinton-Jensen of Staten Island, Sally Iacovelli of Ithaca, Betty Kingsley of Rochester and Nancy Walczyk of Boston, two-year terms; Mark Ames of Homer, Karen Krauss of Albany, Dennis O Donnell of, Barry Vee of Rochester, Tom Solimine of White Plains, and Corinthia Ward of the Bronx, one-year terms. Directors representing the NYS Bowling Proprietors Association are Kathy Leitgeb of Albany and Rick O Neil of Owego. The following were elected as Youth Committee members: Clinton-Jensen, Solimine, Nelson Chase of Hudson Falls and Paul Terracciano of Hawthorne, at-large; Mary Chase of Tonawanda and Linda Bardol of Tonawanda, Region 1; Marianne Mayer of Rochester and Callan, Region 2; Patty Dichiara of Elmira and Michelle D Angelo of Elmira, Region 3; Ames, Region 4 (a vacancy exists in Region 4); Karen Astafan of Carthage and Ricki Westcott of Carthage, Region 5; Brian Palmer of Queensbury and Shawn Lambert of Queensbury, Region 6; Michelle Duchowny of Ballston Lake and Courtney MacDougall of Waterford, Region LOCAL BOWLERS HAVE A BALL AT USBC WOMEN S CHAMPIONSHIPS Bowl Mor team places 11th overall in Scratch Team The 92nd annual USBC Women s Championships has come and gone but many local players left their mark at the national tournament. Here is a list of locally connected bowlers who finished among the top 11 in their respective divisions at the USBC Women s Championships held April 7-July 3 at the Oncenter. SCRATCH Team Shootin Nines, featuring former local bowler Keli Callahan, placed first with a 3,305 total. Callahan, who resides in Las Vegas, rolled a 707 series. Shootin Nines also placed second in Diamond Team. Callahan is a former Fayetteville-Manlius star who won NJCAA rookie of the year and bowler of the year honors in 1995-96 while competing for Erie Community College. Callahan also was a first-team All-American at Fresno State University. She was inducted into the National Junior College Athletic Association Bowling Hall of Fame in 2008. Team 23321, featuring East Syracuse s Jennifer Creno, finished seventh with a 3,177 total. She rolled a 545 in team event. Bowl Mor Lanes fired a 3,122 team total and placed 11th. Kristy Moro, the sister of Keli Callahan, led her team with a 644 series. Moro resided in Minoa before relocating to Fort Myers, Fla. Adrienne Turbeville, of Minoa, added a 641 followed by Colby Stejbach of (634), Roseann DiFlorio of Liverpool (610) and Anna McIntyre of Cheektowaga (593). Doubles s Michelle Feldman and hall of fame bowler Aleta Sill, of Livonia, Mich., combined to shoot 1,462 for first place. Feldman fired a 778 series and Sill added a 684. The pair also finished in fourth in Diamond Doubles. Feldman also helped Aleta Sill s Bowling World team tie for third in the Scratch Division. All-events Michelle Feldman placed seventh with a total of 2,100. She had a 608 in team, 778 in doubles and 714 in singles. DIAMOND Doubles Tanya Leonard of paired with former Syracuse resident Davie Mae Leskoske of Clinton, Utah, and rolled to a ninth place finish. The pair, who received 150 pins handicap, rolled a 1,433 total. Leonard shot a 686 while Leskoske had a 597. RUBY Team Emilie Pawlick of Clay helped the Alley Oops team from Carrizo Springs, Texas to a seventh place finish in Ruby. Pawlick, bowling as a substitute, rolled a 589 series and the team finished with the 2,821 total. 7; Judith Phillips of Kingston and Nancy Howell of Kingston, Region 8; Thomas Clinton of Staten Island and Anthony Pellegrino of Staten Island, Region 9; Doc Doctorow of Coram and Flo Janovsky of Smithtown, Region 10. At its first board meeting following the or- ganizational meeting, the board announced the hiring of Michael Pettinella of Batavia as Association Manager. Pettinella served as the Empire State s first president from 2009-10 and currently is the ESUSBCBA s association manager. Rougeau takes over for outgoing president Bob Lazzaro, who will stay on as a SBA director. Karl Reester is the SBA first vicepresident while Anne Moore is the second vice-president. Sandy Argus will continue as association manager. The Syracuse Women s Association hired Deb Deuel as its association manager. Deuel served as interim association manager at the end of the 2010-11 season. Deuel replaces her mother, the late Dianne Kratz. Sandy Adiano remains as SWBA president. In addition to her duties with the SWBA, Deuel will continue to help as the Syracuse USBC Youth Inc. association manager. She will be assisted by Seline Weiskopff, who was named interim association manager. The Youth president is Mary Scarson. A new season is upon us Welcome back bowlers! While you were away from the lanes, a lot transpired in the off-season. In a major move, the state men s, women s and youth associations merged to become the unified New York State USBC Inc. (See story, Page 1). In my opinion, the merger is an exciting step in the right direction for the future of bowling. I also support the NYS Association s vision statement which is: A unified organization focused on creating lifelong bowlers. Closer to home, Syracuse received high marks as host of the USBC Women s Championships at the Oncenter. Nearly 6,000 fiveplayer teams came to compete in team, doubles and singles at the national tournament, which wrapped up July 3. It was a special event as many Central New York bowlers and fans enjoyed the competitive spectacle that is the Women s Championship. The CNY Striker staff is looking forward to another year of outstanding performances and special stories. We hope you enjoy and support The CNY Striker as it enters its third season! Ventura went 4-4 in match play and survived for a three-pin victory over Bob Caruso of Dayton, N.J., to win the Iroquois Lanes Senior Open. With his first PBA victory, Ventura joins the roster of players who are eligible to enter the 2012 PBA Tournament of Champions at Red Rock Lanes in Las Vegas next April. Ventura placed 39th at the PBA Senior Northern California Classic in Brentwood, Calif., last June. Ventura averaged 214.25 in two rounds of qualifying but failed to make the match play cut at Harvest Park Bowl. The event was won by Senior U.S. Open champ Ron Mohr of Alaska. Ventura and Mike Tryniski, of Fulton, competed in the USBC Senior Masters at Wayne Webb s Columbus Bowl, Columbus, Ohio on Aug. 1-5. Tryniski qualified for match play in 39th place with a 15-game total of 2,989. Kevin Croucher led the top 64 players after qualifying. Ventura finished 146th and failed to qualify. Although Tryniski suffered two straight match play losses, he cashed $950. Dale Traber, who won the event in 2009, defeated USBC Hall of Famer Walter Ray Williams Jr. for the Senior Masters title, 707-695. Ventura qualified for match play at the PBA Senior Jackson Open at Airport Lanes in Jackson, Mich., on Aug. 24. Ventura qualified in 30th position but was eliminated in the round of 32. He earned $1,025. At the season-ending PBA Senior Dayton Classic, Ventura failed to advance to match play Aug. 29 at Capri Lanes in Dayton, Ohio. He came in tied for 41st and won $450. The left-hander, who shot a 299 game during the Post-Standard Women s Masters last February, finally got her perfect game April 12 at Thunderbird Lanes in the T-Bird Ladies Classic League. Pawlick was the fourth female to roll a perfect game in the 2010-11 season. Congratulations, Emilie! A look back in history: 1 9 6 8 A l l - S t a r s by John Savage In 1968, after Don Gates completed his first year of the World of Ten Pins, he took a vote of all the Classic League bowlers in Syracuse. Their vote would determine the men and women s World of Ten Pins All-Star bowling teams for the 1967-68 season. The following is a result of that vote. MEN Greg Griffo Joe Borello Marty Piraino Lou Scrimale Sam Piraino Bowler of the year: WOMEN Roseanne Bretzer Lee Brock Barbara Stauffer Helen Gressens Fran Priolo Bowler of the year: Raphael Flash Caloia Don Gates John Savage Nini Sgroi Howie Stearns Greg Griffo Myrtle Brisson Rita Falge Angie Tacy Jean Weiner Babe Martino Roseanne Bretzer A 1955 photo Greg Griffo, the 1968 male bowler of the year Roseanne Bretzer was the 1968 female bowler of the year LAFAVER, STAUFFER FEATURED AT WOMEN S CHAMPIONSHIPS The last time the United States Bowling Congress Women s Championships was held in Syracuse, team captains spent 3 cents on postage to submit their entries, and competitors heading to event paid 29 cents per gallon for gasoline. The year was 1954, and 4,538 five-player teams made their way east to compete at the Jefferson Bowling Academy, the same venue that played host to the USBC Women s Championships in 1940. Among the competitors in 1954 were two women from nearby Liverpool, N.Y., Shirley Lafaver and Barbara Stauffer, who have watched the event evolve over the years and helped welcome the tournament back to Salt City in 2011. The two Syracuse Bowling Association Hall of Famers celebrated 30 and 36 years of Women s Championships participation, respectively, when they competed at the Oncenter Convention Center just days apart within the last week. Not only are both women from Liverpool, a suburb of Syracuse, they also bowl at Flamingo Bowl and share birthdays in the month of February. Lafaver, an 83-year-old right-hander, celebrated her milestone appearance Saturday and enjoyed the opportunity to compare this year s tournament with the 1954 event. There were more young bowlers back then, and we also wore skirts usually the long pleated ones that our sponsors paid for, Lafaver said. We were sponsored by just about every type of business, too, from funeral homes to auto repairs shops. But, I do like the new setup. It s really nice with the specially-constructed lanes and surrounding atmosphere. Lafaver began bowling in a company league while working as a telephone operator for New York Bell. Soon, Syracuse Hall of Famer Adeline Alberts took her under her wing, entering them both in a lot of tournaments. The pupil subsequently became a Syracuse Hall of Famer herself, inducted in 2001, and also belongs to the Syracuse 600 Club. Editor s Note: Last spring, Syracuse Women s Bowling Association hall of famers Shirley Lafaver and Barb Stauffer competed in the USBC Women s Championships at the Oncenter. The national tournament was a homecoming of sorts for both Lafaver and Stauffer, who also bowled in the 1954 national tournament hosted by Syracuse. The USBC media relations department featured the pair on bowl.com. Here is their story. Shirley Lafaver Barb Stauffer Local bowlers welcome tournament back to Syracuse In 1983, we had so many locals bowling in the championships that we chartered our own plane to Las Vegas, Lafaver added. Two of my favorite cities we visited were Bismarck even though we were snowed into our hotel for two days, the people were really nice and Salt Lake City. We attended church there and got to see the Mormon Tabernacle Choir sing. It was wonderful. This year, Lafaver competed in the Ruby Division, posting scores of 131, 139 and 143 to help her team to a 2,189 total. A nagging right-knee injury prevented her from bowling doubles and singles, but she enjoyed competing in the team event with her daughter, Stacey Schloop, also of Liverpool. Stauffer, a 79-year-old left-hander, was recognized for her 36 years on Monday. She made her Women s Championship debut at the 1954 event at the age of 22 and bowled with her four sisters, Frances Sass, Anne Adams, Roseann Bretzer and Mary Jane Egloff. They appropriately named their team The Five Sisters. It was just an honor to bowl in that tournament because we were just local bowlers, and we were all sisters, Stauffer said. They had foul judges back then. The lady that threw the first ball was Marion Ladewig, a professional bowler. It was really awesome. I was in awe. This week, Stauffer rolled a 479 series in team and helped Adam s Apples to a 2,874 total in the Diamond Division. She finished with 502 in singles and 499 in doubles for a 1,786 all-events total, which included 34 pins of handicap per game. Stauffer was thrilled to have the Women s Championships back in her hometown. It means a lot to be able to bowl in Syracuse again, Stauffer said. For Stauffer, participating in the Women s Championships is her passion. I hope I can keep doing it until I can t pick up a bowling ball any more, she said. I really love bowling. I love the girls I bowl with. I m just hoping I can keep going to all the tournaments and our team can stay the same. We ve been together for quite some time.

The pair teamed up for 1,407 scratch total with Alexander rolling a 660 series while Cyr added a 747 set. Local bowlers occupied the top three spots in doubles. Besides Alexander and Cyr, Dean Distin and Mike Tryniski finished second (1,393) and Jeremy Macri and Sam Ventura placed third (1,383). Cyr also fared well in All-Events Scratch with a 2,099 total, good enough for second place. Ventura finished third and Distin took fifth. For a complete list of state place winners, go to: http://empirestateusbcba.org/. The tournament, conducted by the Empire State USBC Bowling Association, drew 222 five-person teams (three more than 2010) along with 428 doubles entries, 856 singles entries and 737 all-events entries. September 2011 2 0 1 1 USBC WOMEN S CHAMPIONSHIPS RECAP by Wendy Clem USBC Media Specialist Local star Michelle Feldman of, N.Y., headlined the list of champions at the 2011 United States Bowling Congress Women s Championships, which ended its 88-day run at the Oncenter Convention Center on July 3. The 35-year-old right-hander claimed the one USBC Women s Championships title that has eluded her during her career as she teamed with USBC Hall of Famer Aleta Sill of Livonia, Mich., to win this year s Scratch Doubles title with a 1,462 total. Feldman, a 12-time Professional Women s Bowling Association champion and 2002 PWBA Player of the Year, also is the Women s Championships 2003 and 2009 Classic Singles champion, the 2003 Classic All-Events winner and a 1998 Classic Team champion. I didn t feel like I bowled that well, but I m glad we were able to make it into the doubles lead, said Feldman, who led the pair with a 778 series, while Sill, her longtime mentor, added a 684 set. It was pretty laid back and a lot of fun. Another former PWBA standout, Dede Davidson of Buellton, Calif., also fared well in Syracuse this year as she became the first woman in the tournament s 92-year history with a 300 game and 800 series on the championship lanes. The 44-year-old left-hander rolled games of 279, 268 and 253 for 800 on the nose during her team event and picked up right where she left off the next day in doubles and singles. She rolled one of this year s three perfect games on the way to a 746 doubles series and added 653 in singles for a Scratch All-Events-winning 2,199 total. I was pretty oblivious while bowling until everyone started clapping, Davidson said. Then, I realized they were looking at the possibility of my shooting an 800. I started to get nervous around the 36th ball, but I had a good look and the right ball. What was odd, though, is that I took down the remaining pins with a Brooklyn strike, and I never do that. I like to think it was due to my mom, Lori Davidson, looking over me and helping me carry that. She died suddenly in March, and both of my parents have been very positive influences in this sport. Erin Lenahan of Lincoln, Calif., and Kimberly Wiget of Lafayette, La., rolled the year s other 300s, while Suzy Minino of Omaha, Neb., put together games of 268, 279 and 259 for an 806 scratch doubles series and teamed with Trish Manna, also of Omaha, to take home the Diamond Doubles title with a 1,532 handicap effort. continued on page 7 History made at USBC Open Championships The 2011 USBC Open Championships, which kicked off March 4 and ended July 6 in Reno, had its share of incredible moments. Matt Weggen of Muscatine, Iowa, made history when he became the first bowler in history to roll back-to-back 800 series on the tournament lanes, and he added two titles to his list of accomplishments at the National Bowling Stadium this year. The 31-year-old right-hander is the first bowler to claim both the Regular Singles and Regular All-Events titles since John Janawicz of Winter Haven, Fla., did so in 2004, also at the Stadium. After posting a 636 series in team, Weggen found his way into the record books with 806 in doubles and 826 in singles for a 2,268 all-events total and then waited nearly three months for the 122-day tournament to conclude. Recently-inducted USBC Hall of Famer Jeff Richgels added to his legacy at the Open Championships by leading Turbo 2-N-1 Grips 1 of Madison, Wis., to the highest team game in tournament history (1,281) on the way to a 3,473 total and the 2011 Regular Team title. The win is the fifth of Richgels 30-year tournament career and the second for the team, which claimed the Team All-Events crown in 2005. The coveted Team All-Events title was claimed by K&K Bowling Services 5 of Las Vegas, which got off to a slow start in team but averaged more than 237 as a group in doubles and singles to grab the top spot with a 10,283 total, the ninth-highest score in tournament history. Adam Ishman led the way with a 2,135 all-events total and was followed by Junior Team USA member and first-time Open Championships participant Kyle King (2,123), USBC Second Vice- President and former Team USA member Andrew Cain (2,097), Chris Klerk (2,003) and Les Shirwindt (1,925). Chad Reiffer of Kentwood, Mich., and Brandon Tarabek of Grand Rapids, Mich., calmly stepped up and struck under pressure to finish with a 1,497 doubles total and now are the 2011 Regular Doubles champions. This year marked the first time the two have bowled doubles together at the Open Championships. Tarabek, a 27-year-old right-hander, closed out his 745 set with three strikes and put their fate in Reiffer s hands. The 25-year-old righty coolly delivered three strikes of his own to cap off a string of seven consecutive strikes for a 752 series. In the Classified Division, Paradise Lanes of Walden, Colo., put the team event out of reach early with a 2,910 total on March 26 and held on to win the 2011 Classified Team title. The group posted games of 974, 938 and 998, led by Matt Landis, who fired a 631 series. He was followed by Glen Hurt (609), Shane Hartman (581), Toby Sanchez (545) and Nick Cornelison (544). The Classified Doubles title went to Velvet Sanderson of Norco, Calif., and Gary Weldon of Temple City, Calif., who combined for a 1,223 total. Weldon, a 62-year-old right-hander, made a run at a perfect game in his final game of doubles, and although he fell short and finished with 289, the effort was enough to lift them to the victory. Weldon finished with a 700 series, while Sanderson, a 48-year-old right-hander, added a 523 set. Glen Brown of Renton, Wash., a 39-year-old right-hander, capped off his 19th tournament appearance with a 690 series and earned himself this year s Classified Singles title. The Classified All-Events title went to 23-year-old Miguel Sanchez of Chicago, who shot 677 in singles, 592 in doubles and 584 in team for a 1,853 total. The Open Championships was the tournament s record 10th trip to Reno and seventh visit to the one-of-a-kind National Bowling Stadium. It also marked the first time a city has hosted the tournament in consecutive years. This year s event featured 12,837 five-player teams. The tournament featured a record 16 800 series and 52 perfect games, the second-most behind the 2002 event in Billings, Mont., which had 64. Some of the other numbers not reflected on the leaderboard include 25 299 games and six 298s, while 60 bowlers tossed 11 strikes in a row. The next stop for the Open Championships will be Baton Rouge, La., in 2012. The tournament is scheduled to begin Feb. 11 and run for a near-record 151 days, concluding July 10. S e p t e mber 2011 THE C N Y Striker (continued from page 6) 2011 USBC WOMEN S CHAMPIONSHIPS RECAP There also were three 299s and one 298 at the Oncenter Convention Center this year. Team USA member Shannon O Keefe of Arlington, Texas, led Shootin Nines of Indianapolis to the Scratch Team title with a 3,305 total, while Eagles Edge Pro Shop, of Des Plaines, Ill., grabbed the top spot in Diamond Team with 3,416. The effort included a with 3,224 scratch total and 64 pins handicap per game. O Keefe set the pace for Shootin Nines with a 766 series and was followed by Keli Callahan (707), Brenda Mack (647), Amanda Beck (599) and Jenifer Larson (586). Joey Biondo led Eagles Edge Pro Shop with a 678 series and was joined by Tracy Luncsford (663), Keri Caduto (662), Jonquay Armon (614) and Tina Becke (607). We are very happy to have captured the Scratch Team title and win on pure score, said Mack, who also helped her team to second place in Diamond Team with a 3,347 handicap total. Our goal has not always been to recruit the best bowlers necessarily, but to have fun and enjoy each other. If we bowl well on top of that, it s great, but our first plan is to have fun and just reconnect with each other. Shannon Pluhowsky of Kettering, Ohio, topped the Scratch Singles standings with a 763 series, which also helped her to a second-place finish in Scratch All-Events. It s been a long wait for me, and it s really kind of surprising that for all the people who bowled in this event, I won singles, said Pluhowsky, a 28-year-old left-hander. It s also my first title since being part of the winning team in 2007. Diamond Singles honors went to Brittany Signor of Watertown, N.Y. She posted a 704 scratch series, and an additional 34 pins of handicap per game helped her to an 806 total. Elizabeth HublerRike of Grand Rapids, Mich., shined in Diamond All-Events with a 2,270 total. The 34-year-old right-hander bowled well over her 181 average and had 660 in doubles, 634 in singles and 625 in team for a 1,919 scratch all-events total. An additional 39 pins of handicap per game helped her into the lead. The Diamond Division includes bowlers with averages of 180 and above. Handicap is 100 percent of 220. The Ruby Division includes bowlers with averages between 150 and 179. Handicap is 100 percent of 180. The Sapphire Division includes bowlers with averages of 149 and below. Handicap is 100 percent of 150. The 2011 event marked the second time in the tournament s 92year history that is was held in an arena setting. This time, 48 lanes, spectator seating, offices, a squad room and vendor space were built inside the Oncenter for the nearly 6,000 five-player teams to compete in team, doubles and singles. Complete standings and prizes for the 2011 event can be found at BOWL.com/usbcwomenschamp, but everything is unofficial until a final verification is made. Also making headlines at the 2011 Women s Championships were participation leaders Emma Hendrickson of Morris Plains, N.J., and Mini Tvaska of St. Petersburg, Fla. Hendrickson, a 102-year-old bowling sensation, extended her own record as the tournament s oldest participant as she competed at the Women s Championships for the 52nd consecutive time. Tvaska, 93, has competed in more Women s Championships than any bowler and made her 65th consecutive appearance. Her tournament career began at the 1947 event in Grand Rapids, Mich. Two other tournaments also graced the championship lanes at the Oncenter Convention Center. The USBC Queens and USBC Senior Queens were held in Salt City during April. The 2012 Women s Championships is scheduled to run from April 14 through July 7 at the National Bowling Stadium in Reno, Nev. Local talent represents at USBC Queens Central New York was well represented at the USBC Queens Championship, which was held in April at the Oncenter Convention Center. The 2011 Queens featured 206 of the top female bowlers in the world competing for a total prize fund of $120,000. Making the match-play cut were Michelle Feldman of (3,193), Louann Mosher of Watertown (2,994), Jennifer Creno of East Syracuse (2,993) and Margie Chetney of (2,915). Anne Conner of New York Mills, Colby Stejbach of and Courtney Radick of Oswego finished in the top 80 but failed to advance to match play. Carolyn Dorin-Ballard finished as the top qualifier for the second straight year. In her first match, Dorin-Ballard sent Chetney into the losers bracket with a 678-576 win. Chetney was eliminated by Jodi Woessner in the next round, but cashed $750. Creno won her first match, but was eliminated two rounds later, cashing $900. Feldman advanced to the round of 16 undefeated and was eliminated in the Contenders Bracket by Diandra Asbaty, 705-620. Feldman earned $1,900. In the Senior Queens, Rosa Moro of East Syracuse missed the match-play cut by two places as the top 32 bowlers advanced. She finished with a 2,838 total for 34th place. Missy Parkin is interviewed by ESPN after receiving her check, crown and trophy for winning the Queens title. Mini Tvaska, 93, (center) has competed in more Women s Championships than any bowler and made her 65th consecutive appearance in June. Her tournament career began at the 1947 event in Grand Rapids, Mich. She was honored before her appearance and received a Syracuse University basketball jersey, flowers and an Otto the Orange stuff animal. Tvaska is flanked by Ann Adams (right) and tournament manager Eric Pierson. Courtney Radick, Margie Chetney, and Anne Conner were among the local players that competed in the USBC Queens Championships last April. Missy Parkin of Lake Forest, Calif., a 29-year-old righthander, defeated top-seed Elysia Current of Ephrata, Pa., 214-189, to win the Queens title and claim her first major championship. The championship round aired live on ESPN2. Parkin took home the Queens tiara and $20,000 first-place check for the win. Current, a 26-year-old right-hander, earned $10,000 for the runner-up finish. In reaching the title match, Parkin downed USBC Hall of Famer and 2002 Queens champion Kim Terrell-Kearney of Grand Prairie, Texas, 235-172. Terrell-Kearney received $7,000 for the third-place effort. To open the championship round, one-time Professional Women s Bowling Association titlist Cathy DorinLizzi of Sandusky, Ohio, defeated USBC Hall of Famer and three-time Queens champion Wendy Macpherson, 180-168. Paula Vidad of Sun City, Calif., claimed the Senior Queens title as she defeated defending champion Char Hammel of Las Vegas, 715-638. Vidad won $3,500. Missy Parkin won the Queens title. Love was in the air and on the lanes at the Oncenter as newlyweds Jessica Reeher and Evan Haas celebrated part of their wedding day at the USBC Women s Championships. After the two were pronounced man and wife in the Oncenter Atrium on June 15, the Cicero couple took advantage of the tournament venue for wedding pictures on the lanes. Reeher, 32, and Haas, 27, plus their 11 attendants, used lanes 47 and 48 as the back drop for some fun weddingparty photos before the 6 p.m. team squad.
