NATIONAL SOCCER COACHING CONFERENCE presented by January 30 - February 1, 2015 University of Toronto, Varsity Centre Early Bird Fee: $225 before Dec. 1, 2014 Regular Fee: $250 CLINICIANS/GUEST SPEAKERS BENITO FLORO Head Coach, Canadian Men s National Team Benito Floro is currently the head coach of the Canadian senior men s national team. During his 24 years as a professional manager, he has coached well-known clubs in the world, including Villarreal CF, RCD Mallorca, Club de Futbol Monterrey, Sporting de Gijon and most notably, Real Madrid, where he led the club to the Copa del Rey title in his first season and the Supercopa de Espana in his second. Floro was also a UEFA Intertoto Cup Champion in 2004, while at the helm of Villarreal. Floro also spent time as director of football of Real Madrid, and has been a teacher of Spanish soccer coaches over the years as well as an international expert and reputed lecturer for coaching education. RAYMOND VERHEIJEN Founder, World Football Academy Raymond Verheijen is one of the global leaders in soccer specific conditioning and periodization, and boasts a wealth of experience coaching at the highest levels of professional soccer around the world. He has coached at every European Cup Championship since 2000 EURO 2000 (a semifinalist with Holland under head coach Frank Rijkaard), 2004 (semifinalist with Holland under head coach Dick Advocaat), 2008 (semifinalist with Russia under heach coach Guus Hiddink), and 2012 (with Russia under head coach Dick Advocaat) Verheijen has also been involved at every World Cup Finals since 2002: World Cup 2002 (semifinalists with Korea under head coach Guus Hiddink), 2006 (with Korea under head coach Dick Advocaat), 2010 (second round with Korea), and most recently in World Cup 2014 with Argentina, helping them progress to the final against Germany. Additionally, Verheijen also spent time working with Louis van Gaal and the Holland U-20 men s national team at the World Cup 2001 in Argentina, and has worked as an assistant manager of the Welsh senior men s national team with Gary Speed. At the club level, Verheijen s experience is just as impressive. He has worked with the likes of Barcelona FC, Manchester City, Chelsea FC, and Zenit St. Petersburg. Verheijen has also implemented his philosophy within the famous Feyenoord Academy, which produced the most World Cup 2014 players of all club academies worldwide. Verheijen has published two influential books - Conditioning for Soccer (1998) and Periodisation in Football (2008) in Holland. His latest book was published in English in June 2014, titled The Original Guide to Football Periodisation - Part 1.

CLINICIANS/GUEST SPEAKERS continued GREG VANNEY Head Coach, Toronto FC Greg Vanney is the head coach of Toronto FC in Major League Soccer. Vanney joined Toronto FC as the Academy s director and assistant general manager in December 2013, after serving as the head coach of the LA Galaxy s U-14 Academy side and technical director of the LA Galaxy partner club, LA Galaxy South Bay. He was also previously the director of soccer operations and director of Real Salt Lake- Arizona Youth Academy at Grande Sports World, while also overseeing program and business development at the facility. At RSL, he played a key role in creation of the first MLS Residential Academy in the United States, which began play in 2010. Vanney previously coached Chivas USA in MLS, where he held a dual role as assistant coach and technical director of the youth academy. He holds a USSF A Coaching License and is currently completing the Elite Formation Coaching License program - a development course partnered by MLS and the French Football Federation. Vanney also enjoyed a decorated playing career, spending many years in MLS with FC Dallas, Colorado Rapids, DC United, and, most notably, LA Galaxy, where he played in three MLS Cup Finals and was twice named to the MLS Best IX. He also spent three seasons with SC Bastia in the French First Division, where he helped the club to the final of the Coupe de France. Internationally, Vanney was capped 36 times for the United States men s national team during his successful playing career. KARA LANG Former Player, Canadian Women s National Team, Sports Analyst Kara Lang is a former Canadian women s national team member, who has represented her country at two FIFA Women s World Cups and the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China. She is the youngest person to be capped by the Canadian women s national team, debuting for the team at the age of 15 at the Algarve Cup in Portugal. She was also a member of both the 2010 CONCACAF Women s Gold Cup and 2010 Cyprus Women s Cup winning teams with the national program. Lang served as a member of the Vancouver Whitecaps, competing in the W-League, and prior to that, spent three seasons with the UCLA Bruins in NCAA Division I, where she was ranked as the No. 1 recruit of her recruiting class and was named a preseason all-american as a freshman. Following her playing career, Lang transitioned into the broadcast booth as a television sports analyst for Rogers Sportsnet, covering the 2011 FIFA Women s World Cup and making several appearances on the Soccer Central nightly show. Coming off the 2012 London Olympics as a member of CTV s broadcast team, she now works for TSN as a sideline reporter for their MLS broadcasts and will be an analyst for next summer s FIFA Women s World Cup.

CLINICIANS/GUEST SPEAKERS continued SCHELLAS HYNDMAN Former Head Coach SMU & FC Dallas of Major League Soccer Shellas Hyndman boasts an impressive forty years of coaching experience in the United States and Brazil. He is the former head coach of Murray State University, Eastern Illinois University, and most notably, Southern Methodist University, where he spent 24 seasons and compiled an overall record, 368-96-38. During his time coaching in the NCAA, he earned eight league and five regional coach of year awards, as well as the prestigious National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Coach of the Year award in 1981. Hyndman also spent one year in Brazil, where he served as a staff coach with Sao Paolo Futebol Clube. In 2008, Hyndman left the NCAA to take the head coaching position at FC Dallas in Major League Soccer and coached the team to the 2010 MLS Cup Final. Off the field, he has served as a member of the NSCAA Executive Committee, was president of the association in 2005, and is the NSCAA s Director of Coaching Emeritus. MIKE MATKOVICH Head Coach, Chicago Fire U-23 PDL Mike Matkovich is currently the head coach of the Chicago Fire U-23 squad that competes in the USL Premier Development League. Matkovich was also the head coach of the U-23 team (2002-2006), where he coached many MLS-bound players including Jay DeMerit, Ricardo Clarke and Brad Guzan. He won division titles in all five years, and in 2003, he led his side to the North American championship game. Matkovich has also had two spells as an assistant coach with the Fire s first team in the MLS. In 2007, Matkovich served as the assistant coach for Toronto FC in its inaugural season. Aside from the MLS and PDL, Matkovich has also been the director of coaching for the Chicago Fire Juniors-South, and head coach of the United States men s U-18 national team. He has also spent time working the Chicago Magic SC and was named NSCAA Coach of the Year in 2000 for his work with the club. PHILIPPE EULLAFROY Head Coach, Montreal Impact U-23 Philippe Eullaffroy is in his fifth season as director of the Montreal Impact Academy, after being hired on March 17, 2010, as the first director of player development for the club. He also currently serves as the head coach of the Impact U-23, which competes in the PDL. In 2013, he served as assistant coach with the Impact first team in Major League Soccer and previously acted as head coach of the Impact U-21 team for three years. In 2012, he led the Impact U-21 team to the second best record in the Canadian Soccer League (14-3-5) and a second-place playoff finish. In 2009, as head coach of the Trois-Rivières Attak, Eullaffroy led the team to the regular season championship and to the first playoff championship in its history, as well as being named the Canadian Soccer League Coach of the Year. He has also been the head coach of Quebec s provincial U-18 team and the McGill Redmen of the CIS. A native of Troyes, France, Eullaffroy coached in the French professional academies of Stade de Reims and Troyes before moving to Canada. He currently holds a UEFA A coaching license and a Canadian National B license.

CLINICIANS/GUEST SPEAKERS continued JIM LISTON Director of Sports Science, Toronto FC Jim Liston is the director of Sports Science for Toronto FC and co-founder of CATZ (Competitive Athlete Training Zone). Liston is one of the leading experts on training athletes and mentoring coaches, having worked with teams such as the LA Galaxy (2000 CONCACAF champions, 2001 US Open Cup champions, 2002 MLS Cup champions), Columbus Crew (2008 MLS Cup champions), and USA men s volleyball (2008 Olympic gold medalists). Liston, and his team at CATZ, has also worked with many professional athletes, such as Carlos Ruiz, Taylor Twellman, Kristine Lilly, Kevin Hartman, Heather O Reilly, and Canadian Candace Chapman. He is an expert on presenting the principles of effective training and creating an engaging environment in which athletes flourish. He has been featured in the New York Times, on the NBC Nightly News, in Newsweek and in Men s Health. Liston holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Massachusetts and a Masters of Education in Health Science from Springfield College. PHILLIP DOS SANTOS Technical Director, Ottawa Fury FC Phillip Dos Santos is currently the technical director of the Ottawa Fury FC and an assistant Coach with the Ottawa Fury NASL team. He has experience at both the international and national levels and has previously held head coaching and assistant coaching positions with the Canadian national team program, Quebec National Training Centre (NTC) program and several Quebec provincial youth teams. He presently holds a UEFA A coaching license. Dos Santos also enjoyed a short professional playing career in Portugal and Mozambique. VANESSA MARTINEZ-LAGUNAS Head Coach, University of Manitoba Vanessa Martinez-Lagunas is currently the head coach of the University of Manitoba women s soccer team in the Canada West Conference of CIS, a FIFA women s soccer and grassroots coaching instructor, and a UEFA technical expert. Her impressive coaching credentials include experience in Canada, Mexico, Germany, and the USA. She is a former assistant coach of the U-17/U-16 German women s national team as well as the FC Lokomotive Leipzig Women. Martinez- Lagunas currently holds a USSF National A license, a NSCAA Premier Diploma, a USSF National Youth Coaching license, a USSF National Goalkeeping license, and, most notably, a UEFA Pro License, through the German Soccer Federation - DFB. She experienced a successful playing career, representing Mexico internationally with the Mexican national women s team and was also a member of the Mexican women s national university team. She also spent time playing professionally in Germany with FC Lokomotive Leipzig, Leipziger FC 07 and Bayern Munich. Martinez-Lagunas is currently completing a PhD in Sports Science through the University of Leipzig.
