We will only use one 9 holes side at each course each week (including all make up rounds), rotating between the two sides throughout the season where possible. How Do I Make Weekly Tee Times? Make tee times up to one week in advance by calling the Pro-Shop and asking for available times during our league time slot. Make next Monday's Tee Time when you pay for your current Monday night round. Please attempt to pair up into foursomes as much as possible to keep the pace of play at a decent rate for all. The Club Pro-Shop can help you with this. As we may only be using one set of 9 holes per course, expect to be paired up each week. It will be important to call for a tee time. Any times not filled by Monday can be given up to the general public. When Will We Celebrate? 2017 Golf League Celebrations (Dates subject to change) Date Activity Details Sept 11th (tentative) Season End Banquet & Scramble Free Food and Drink Scramble Team Tournament On-Course Contests Prize Raffle
What Will It Cost? Up front entry and registration fee of $95.00 will be used to cover league expenses and celebrations. This is the same amount as last year and covers 20 weeks of play, year-end banquet with many prizes, weekly prizes, season end grand prize drawing, and general league costs. Still unsure? Ask last season s players if they felt it was a good value. This may help you decide if this league is right for you. Any returned checks will be assessed the return check fee charged to the league by the bank. Prizes, handicaps and available play will only begin once you are registered, not before. Weekly out of pocket cost will be: Minebrook Golf Club Monday Night Rate - $25 per round including cart (Same price to walk) There is an annual golf program 5 day performance pass option for anyone our league. This is a handicapped league where rankings are used to determine weekly winners and play-off participants. New members will start the season with either an initial handicap of "9" or a handicap determined using your USGA handicap index. If "9" then after your first two rounds a league handicap will be established. Returning 2016 members will start the 2017 season with their 2016 season ending handicap. Any other returning members will start with the most recent league handicap if available. Points will be awarded in the following manner: Lowest Net Score of all Monday night players will receive 50 points. (Tie goes to the lower handicap player). Second Lowest Net Score of all Monday night players will receive 49 points. (Tie goes to the lower handicap player).... and so on until all players have been awarded points for the nights play.
How Do I Advance into the Playoffs? The top twenty-four players based on Total Points as of the last week of regular play, August 14 th, will advance into the play-offs. Total Points will consist of the players top 7 finishes during the regular 17 week season, April 10 th - August 14 th. Again for this season - based on feedback from previous seasons the league committee is trying to be more flexible: Players who from time-to-time cannot play on Monday can now still have their scores used for making the play-offs. This is important, so please read Scores will only be accepted up to the Friday night after Monday s league play (email of scores with back-up attested score card or smartphone photo or card ). As in past years, you have had the ability to play your makeup round the week prior to your normal week of play, allowing those with travel plans more flexibility to get their required rounds in. These scores will be used for the Total Points rankings which determine who makes it into the play-offs but are not eligible for weekly prizes (Low Net, 2nd Low Net, Closest to the Pin or Longest Drive). You will be awarded equivalent points based on net score of other Monday night players. The league requests this option be used on an exception basis and not standard practice. Play-off format is Match Play single elimination within three flights and will be communicated later in the season.

What About the Weather? During inclement weather each Golf Club will determine if their course is open for play. If the weather looks severe please call the club to see if they will be open for play. o Minebrook Pro-Shop: (908) 979-0366 o Farmstead Pro Shop: (973) 383-1666, Club Pro: Scott Pruden o Fairway Valley Pro-Shop: (908) 689-1530 If the course is open and fit for play, prizes and points will be awarded to those that "toughed it out" for the round. If you do not play on that day, you may make up the round later in the week to get your points for the week, however you will not be eligible for the weekly prizes (lowest net, second lowest net, longest drive, closest to the pin). Make Up Rounds? You can play a makeup round on the Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday following the missed Monday round, or on the Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday prior to the missed Monday round. Makeup rounds at Farmstead must be played on the same nine holes as Monday night play because the course rating / slope differs across the three nines at Farmstead. Makeup rounds at Minebrook does not have to be on the same nine holes because the course rating / slope is the same for the front and back nines.
How Do I Turn In My Scores? All scorecards must contain the following: o The date of the round o Legible first and last name of each player for which a score is entered o Hole by hole score for each player o Attesting signature of at least one player whose score is on the card Players must turn in their scorecard the night of the round at the golf course they played. Please Note: The Preferred method to communicate your scorecards to the league in 2017 will be a picture of the card sent via smartphone to mars.golf.league@effem.com. It s easier for the league scorer to view the numbers and it gives you a copy of the card. In the past, we have had cards that were left with the course go missing. We are no longer collecting scorecards lest at the course!!!!!! If you forget to turn in your scorecard please email all of the information listed above to mars.golf.league@effem.com as soon as possible but not later than the Friday night following the round. If you do not scan or send a photo of the scorecard you must provide hole by hole scores for each player in some other way, e.g. an attached spreadsheet. Make-Up Rounds: its responsibility of the players to forward the scores to the Mars Golf League email address (mars.golf.league@effem.com). (Please do not return scorecards to the course). If you do not scan or send a photo of the scorecard, you must provide the hole by hole scores for each player in some other way, e.g. an attached spreadsheet and forward to mars.golf.league@effem.com. If submitting the scores via spreadsheet or word doc, please be sure to include the course name.
