Test requirements are as of February 8, 2003. Skaters may enter as many events as they wish, as long as they meet the entry requirement for each event. A skater may compete at one level higher than the skaters USFSA test level (freestyle), but not below RULES: ENTRIES: The Competition will be conducted according to the rules of the USFSA as set forth in the 2003/2004 Rulebook, except as stated herein. The JFSC Competition Committee reserves the right to limit the size of each group or to combine or divide groups. The committee may eliminate events due to insufficient entries. Entries must be postmarked by February 8, 2003. Entries must be submitted by mail, on the official form, which may be duplicated. Payment of all fees by check or money order should be made payable to Johnstown Figure Skating Club (JFSC) and must accompany the entry form. Late entries will be accepted at the discretion of the Competition Committee and will require an additional $25.00. There will be a $20.00 penalty fee for returned checks. Entry fees will only be refunded if an event is cancelled. Do not send entry by registered mail Send entries to: Johnstown Figure Skating Club c/o Amy Kreger 5788 Kingwood Road Markleton, PA 15551-8710 FEES: The entry fees are $65.00 for the first event, $25.00 for second event and $15.00 for each event thereafter. Short Program and Long Program are considered separate events. Pair Skaters should split the fee (50% each). If a competitor is skating in both Singles and Pairs events, then the Singles event will be considered the first event. FINAL ROUNDS: AWARDS: MUSIC: Separate final rounds will be held for short and long programs for levels Juvenile and above, made up of more than one group. An equal number of place finishers from each group, per level, will advance to a final round with no more than 18 skaters. Awards will be given to the top six skaters in each group. Medals will be presented to all 1 st, 2 nd and 3 rd place skaters and 4 th, 5 th and 6 th place skaters will receive a ribbon. Trophies will be presented to the 1 st place winners of final round events. Flower halos will be awarded to the top three skaters in free skating events. There will also be 1 st, 2 nd, and 3 rd place club trophies presented to the top three clubs with the most points Music will be played from cassettes or compact discs. Tapes/CDs must be clearly marked with the skater s name and event on the program side of the tape. Skaters should have duplicate with them at their scheduled event. While all possible care will be taken, JFSC assumes no responsibility or liability due to loss or damage to music. Please submit the cassette(s) or CD(s) at the registration desk upon arrival (at least one hour before your scheduled event). 1

RINK: SCHEDULE: PRACTICE ICE: REGISTRATION: ADMISSION: VIDEO: Planet Ice Arena ice measures 200 x85 with rounded corners and a barrier. A snack bar will be open during the competition. A tentative schedule will be available as soon as possible after the entry deadline. The tentative schedule of events will be posted on the Johnstown Figure Skating Club web page located at www.youthsports.com/members/fscpa1230.com A self-addressed stamped envelope is required to receive a schedule by mail. Practice ice will be available during des ignated times throughout the competition. A tentative schedule of practice ice will be included in the tentative event schedule mailings and will be posted to our web site. Practice ice will be $10.00 per 30-minute session. Sessions will be limited to the first 20 skaters. Upon arrival, please register at the registration desk. You must register at least one (1) hour prior to your scheduled event. There will be NO admission charge for spectators. Professional videotaping will be available at the competition. If personal videotaping is done, only batteryoperated cameras should be used. Continue straight through 2 lights at the 3 rd light make a left. Continue straight going northeast on PA 281 for approx. ½ mile then take the US-219 North ramp towards Johnstown. Merge onto US-219N. Stay on route US-219N take the Galleria Drive Exit. ). Get in the right lane. Turn right at the light. At the third light you will need to get into the left lane. Turn left onto Oakridge Dr. Follow for about 1/4 mile. Turn right on Jari Drive. The rink is on the left. From Pittsburgh and West PA Rt. 22 East (approx. 50 miles) Take Rt. 403 South Johnstown Exit approx. 7 miles. Rt. 403 intersects with Rt. 56. Proceed on Rt. 56 East to Rt. 219 North. 219 interchange. Head towards Ebensburg 219 south. Take the first exit you come to (Galleria Drive exit) this is an immediate right. Get in the right lane. Turn right at the light. At the third light you will need to get into the left lane. Turn left onto Oakridge Dr. Follow for about 1/4 mile. Turn right on Jari Drive. The rink is on the left. From Harrisburg and East Take PA Turnpike to the Bedford Exit 11. Take 220 North (RT 99) to 56 west (approx. 30-35 miles) to 219 North (Right at the light by Somerset Trust Bank). Stay in right lane to the Galleria Drive exit. Get in the right lane. Turn right at the light. At the third light you will need to get into the left lane. Turn left onto Oakridge Dr. Follow for about 1/4 mile. Turn right on Jari Drive. The rink is on the left. From Erie Take I-79 south to US 422 exit (exit 29) towards Butler/New Castle keep right at the fork of the ramp. Merge onto 422 E. Take the exit. Take the US 219 south ramp. Merge onto 219 S and take the Galleria Drive exit. Get in the right lane. Turn right at the light. At the third light you will need to get into the left lane. Turn left onto Oakridge Dr. Follow for about 1/4 mile. Turn right on Jari Drive. The rink is on the left. From Cumberland, MD Take I-68/US 222 S/US 40 take US 219 N exit (exit 22) towards Meyersdale. Keep right at the fork of the ramp. Merge onto US 219. Turn left. Turn slight left to take US 219 N ramp. Merge onto 219 N follow to the Galleria Drive exit. Get in the right lane. Turn right at the light. At the third light you will need to get into the left lane. Turn left onto Oakridge Dr. Follow for about 1/4 mile. Turn right on Jari Drive. The rink is on the left. 2

Composition of Events You may enter the event for which you have passed the required test, or one level higher. Short and long programs are separate events. There will be separate final rounds held for short and long programs f or levels Juvenile and above, made up of more than one group. An equal number of place finishers from each group, per level, will advance to a final round with no more than 18 skaters. Please remember that the Competition will be conducted according to the rules of the USFSA as set forth in the 2003/2004 Rulebook. Please check your rulebook for the proper elements needed in the short program events. FREE SKATING/SHORT PROGRAM Tots 1 to ½ minute Designed for skaters who are 6 and under, no tests passed. Jumps allowed are waltz jump, salchow, toe loop, half flip and half lutz. No Test A 1 to 1 ½ minute No tests passed. The only jumps permitted are waltz jump, salchow, toe loop, half flip, and half lutz. No combination jumps permitted. No Test B 1 to 1 ½ minute No tests passed. No axels, double jumps, or combination (including hop ) jumps permitted. Pre-Preliminary A 1½ minute Passed Pre-Preliminary Free Skating Test (no higher). No axel or double jumps permitted. Pre-Preliminary B 1½ minute Passed Pre-Preliminary Free Skating Test (no higher). Preliminary 1½ minute Passed Preliminary Free Skating Test (no higher). Pre-Juvenile 2 minutes Passed Pre-Juvenile Free Skating Test (no higher). Juvenile Age 12 or younger Short Program: 1 min. 40 sec Passed Juvenile Free Skating Test (no higher). Long Program: 2 min. 15 sec Juvenile Short Program consists of the following elements: 1. Axel 2. Double jump of skater s choice. 3. Jump combination consisting of two single jumps or one single and one double jump with NO steps or turns in between. 4. Solo spin (min. 4 revs in position). 5. Combination spin with only one change of foot and one change of position (min. 4 revs each foot). 6. Step sequence (straight line, circular or serpentine). Note: Open Juvenile skaters will be combined with Juvenile skaters for short program. Open Juvenile Age 13 or older Short Program: 1 min. 40 sec Passed Juvenile Free Skating Test (no higher). Long Program: 2 min. 15 sec Open Juvenile Short Program will consist of the elements listed above for Juvenile. Juvenile and Open Juvenile skaters will be combined for short program. Intermediate Short Program: Ladies & Men: 2 minutes Passed Intermediate Free Skating Test (no higher). Long Program: Ladies & Men: 2 min. 30 sec Novice Short Program: Ladies & Men: 2 min. 15 sec Passed Novice Free Skating Test (no higher). Long Program: Ladies: 3 minutes Men: 3 min. 30 sec Junior Short Program: Ladies & Men: 2 min. 40 sec Passed Junior Free Skating Test (no higher). Long Program: Ladies: 3 min. 30 sec Long Program: Men: 4 minutes Senior Short Program: Ladies & Men: 2 min. 40 sec Passed Senior Free Skating Test. PAIRS Pre-Juvenile Pairs 1 min. 30 sec Both partners passed Preliminary Pair Test and Pre-Juvenile MIF Test. Juvenile Pairs 2 min. 15 sec Both partners passed Juvenile Pair Test. Intermediate Pairs 3 min. Both partners passed Intermediate Pair Test. Novice Pairs Short 2 min. 15 sec Both partners passed Novice Pair Test. Long 3 min. 30 sec Junior Pairs Short 2 min. 40 sec Passed Junior Free Skating Test (no higher). Long 4 minutes Senior Pairs Short 2 min. 40 sec Passed Senior Free Skating Test. Long 4 min. 30 sec 3

COMPULSORY MOVES Test Requirements are the same as for Free Skating. Beginner through Pre-Juvenile skaters will present a program, without music and no longer than the stated times. All compulsory moves will be skated on one-half of the ice surface. Elements may be skated in any order. There will be deductions for additional moves. Male skaters may be placed with female skaters depending on the entry numbers. No Test A No Test B Pre-Preliminary Preliminary Pre-Juvenile 2 bunny hops in a row, lunge, waltz jump, forward spiral, 2-foot spin (3 rev). Time - 1 minute max. 2 bunny hops in a row, lunge, waltz jump, forward spiral, 2-foot spin (3 rev). Time - 1 minute max. Waltz jump/toe Loop combination, half flip or half lutz, salchow, forward outside spiral, one foot spin (3 rev). Time - 1 minute max. Salchow jump/toe loop combination (no step or turn in between), flip jump, loop jump, forward spiral on a curve, back scratch spin (3 rev) no change of foot. Time - 1 minute max. Flip/Loop combination, lutz jump, camel spin (3 rev), straight line or diagonal footwork, sit change sit spin (3 rev each foot in position). Time 1 1/2 minutes max. SPIN EVENT Beginner through Senior will present a program without music with spins specified for their appropriate level. Connecting moves are permitted between each spin. Spins may be done in any order. There will be deductions for any jumps done. Programs can be no longer than the stated times. The requirements for this event are the same as for Free Skating Events. Beginner through Pre-Juvenile will use ½ ice and Juvenile through Senior on full ice. Male skaters may be placed with female skaters depending on the entry numbers. SOLO DANCE EVENTS Any Male or Female skater may enter. You may skate at your test level or one level higher. Skater will skate three patterns. The number of sequences to be danced, and starting position will be determined by the referee. LEVEL Preliminary Pre-Juvenile Juvenile Intermediate Novice Junior Senior Adult Pre-Bronze: Adult Bronze: Adult Silver: Adult Pre-Gold: DANCE Canasta Tango Rhythm Blues Fiesta Tango European Waltz Paso Doble Rhumba Quickstep Cha Cha Ten Fox Foxtrot American Waltz SHOWCASE This is a program with the emphasis on the entertainment value, rather than technical content. Elements to be considered in judging will be illustration of character, music interpretation, costuming, and audience appeal. Vocal music is allowed. For this event skaters must skate their test level. Props are optional. No costumes or props with feathers or water will be permitted on the ice. Skaters must carry their own props on and off the ice. LEVEL TEST REQUIREMENTS PROGRAM TIME Showcase Level A: No-Test through Preliminary FS Not to exceed 1 ½ min. Showcase Level B: Pre-Juvenile through Intermediate FS Not to exceed 2 min. Showcase Level C: Novice through Senior FS Not to exceed 2 min. Group Showcase: No Test Restrictions. 2, 3 or 4 Skaters per Group Not to exceed 2 min. Adult Level A: FS Level Adult Bronze or Silver Not to exceed 2 min. Adult Level B: FS Level Adult Gold or Master Not to exceed 2 min. JUMP EVENT Skaters will qualify according to their free skating level. Pre-Preliminary through Pre-Juvenile will be skated on ½ ice.
