EDITOR@THEBANKANGLER.COM VAN DIE OEWER / FROM THE BANK Hier aan die begin van die jaar 2016 nes soos in die begin 2015 - lê ons hengelvolkie voor vele uitdagings, waarvan die droogte seker die ergste is sonder water is daar nie vis nie! Maar dis nie asof ons nie aan uitdagings al gewoond is nie, en uitkoms sal daar seker wees. Hengelaars is mense wat planne kan maak, en tydens droogtetoestande in die verlede is daar wel nog lekker gehengel. By sekere damme wat byna opgedroog het is die volwasse visse uitgehaal en na ander waters geneem. Klein visse is toe as voedsel gebruik, en dit kan gerus weer gedoen word. Dis veral klubs wat hierin n belangrike rol kan speel. Daar is darem ander, meer genotvolle aktiwiteite wat vanjaar ook gaan gebeur. Seker een van die lekkerste om na uit te sien is ons Euro Aqua Avontuur wat ten doel het om een gelukkige Suid- Afrikaner die kans te bied om in Hongarye vir werklike groot karpe te gaan hengel. Lees gerus meer hieroor op bladsy 86 en ook in toekomstuige uitgawes soos die administrasie daarvan vorder. n Wenk: hoe gouer jy registreer hoe beter! Op die kompeterende vlak is daar ook die Feeder Fish-Off wat onder die beskerming van Die Oewerhengelaar as n superliga aangebied word, synde dat net hengelaars wat daarvoor uitgenooi word daaraan gaan deelneem, en hulle sal die room van ons kompetisie-hengelaars wees. Belangstelling in Feederhengel is nog nie wat dit kan wees nie, maar diè wat dit wel aangeneem het is nogal verbaas oor hoe effektief dit is. Feederhengel is beslis nie net vir kompeterende hengelaars om daarmee die nasionale span vir wêreldkampioenskappe te haal nie, dit is ook n uitstekende tegniek vir ontspanningshengel. En net om weer te herinner, dis Suid-Afrika wat die wêreld liggaam en ander lande oorreed het om diè faset internasionale status te gee. En dan is daar ook die Pro Mania reeks wat vanaf sy begin n jaar of wat terug van krag tot krag vorder en geleenthede bied vir enige hengelaar wat daarin belangstel om kompeterend te hengel en ook n lekker bedrag geld te wen! Maar, vir almal wat hul hengel net vir die pure plesier daarvan geniet, bly dit steeds n fantastiese buitelug aktiwiteit vir gesin en vriende, so hou gerus daarmee aan! At long last the angling industry is giving us ordinary folk an opportunity to voice our opinions and tell the industry how we utilize (exploit?) it. The South African Consolidated Recreational Angling Industry (SACRAA) is the organisation that is launching a survey into recreational angling in South Africa, funded by the industry via SAFTAD, the supply side of the industry, and government via the Department of Trade & agriculture, forestry and fisheries, and includes several scientists and other academics. But all their funding and expertise will come to naught if we, the folk who actually go fishing don t take the time to accurately answer the questionnaire that will be circulated.
