INSTRUCTION MANUAL CZ 630/631

Before handling the air rifle read this manual carefully and observe the following safety instructions. Improper and careless handling of the air rifle could result in unintentional discharge and could cause injury, death or damage to property. The same consequences can be caused by unauthorized modifications or adjustments, corrosion, or use of non-standard or damaged ammunition. In these cases the manufacturer shall not be responsible in any manner whatsoever for the resultant consequences. Before leaving the factory this air rifle was tested, carefully inspected, and packed. CZ cannot accept responsibility for product handling while in transit, or upon leaving the factory. Therefore, please examine this air rifle carefully at the time of purchase to ensure that it is unloaded and undamaged. This instruction manual should always accompany this air rifle and that even in the case of the loan or sale of this air rifle. CAUTION: The barrel bore and inner surface of the air tube are protected by a preserving agent. Before first use remove this agent by cocking and idle releasing of the air rifle without pellets (dry fire). SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS Always follow the safety instructions for your safety and the safety of others. 1. Always handle your air rifle as if it were loaded. 2. Never point your air rifle at anything you do not intend to shoot. 3. Never take anyone's word that a gun is unloaded. 4. Always make sure that your air rifle is not loaded before laying it down, or handing it to another person. 5. Always keep your air rifle empty, and uncocked except when you intend to shoot. 6. Never abuse your air rifle by using it for any purpose other than shooting. 7. Never leave the air rifle cocked and ready to fire unattended. 8. Always be sure that barrel bore, chamber, and action are clean and clear of obstructions. 13

9. Always use only clean, dry, original high quality commercially manufactured ammunition, which is appropriate to the caliber of your air rifle. 10. Never drink alcoholic beverages or take drugs before or during shooting. 11. Never squeeze the trigger or put your finger in the trigger guard until you are aiming at a target and ready to shoot. 12. Always be absolutely sure of your target, and the area behind it, before you squeeze the trigger. A bullet could travel through or past your target up to several dozen meters. 13. Never shoot at a hard surface such as rock, or a liquid surface such as water. 14. Never indulge in "horseplay" while holding your air rifle. 15. Always make sure your air rifle is not loaded before cleaning, storing or traveling. 16. Always keep and store your air rifle and ammunition in separate locked receptacles out of reach and sight of children and untrained people. 17. Never alter any parts of your air rifle as the safety and proper function of your air rifle could be seriously compromised. 18. Always be aware that corrosion, use of damaged ammunition, dropping the air rifle on hard surfaces or other "coarse treatment" could cause damage you may not see. If something like this happens let the air rifle to be examined and tested by a competent gunsmith. 19. Don't shoot the gun as long as the barrel isn't completely locked. This operation could cause serious personal injury and or damage to the gun. AIR RIFLE DESCRIPTION AND TERMINOLOGY The names of all air rifle parts are listed in the section Illustration and List of Parts. The Slavia 630 break-barrel air rifle is intended for leisure activities and basic training in sport shooting. The air rifle features a rear sight adjustable for elevation and windage and the trigger is provided with an adjustable trigger pull. The automatic safety secures the air rifle against any accidental discharge during cocking. The stock is made of beech wood and is designed so as to be ambidextrous. 14

The Slavia 631 break-barrel air rifle is intended for general sport shooting and to this purpose its design has been adapted. The more robust stock is now made either from beech wood with a polyamide buttplate or plastic with an adjustable buttplate. The barrel is fixed in its idle position, the receiver is factory milled for a receiver sight or scope mount. The rear sight is adjustable for elevation and windage and the trigger pull weight is adjustable as well. The adjustments are carried out manually or with the use of a regular coin without need of special tools. Also this version is equipped with an automatic safety. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS Ammunition When shooting use only Diabolo pellets or 4.5 mm (.177) shots. The use of smaller shots, nails, little stones etc. can cause damage to the barrel bore. Additionally there is a danger that such an object may fall through the bypass channel into the air tube resulting in damage to the seal and other functional surfaces. Air rifle Cocking and Loading ALWAYS MAKE SURE THE AIR RIFLE IS POINTED IN A SAFE DIRECTION WHEN LOADING! Hold the forend of the air rifle in the right (left) hand and press the stock with your elbow or arm towards the body (Fig. 1). With the other hand grasp the barrel as close to the front sight as possible. Then apply downward pressure on the barrel until you hear a distinct "click" sound. This sound assures you that the weapon is cocked with the safety on, thereby preventing any unintentional discharge. The automatic safety protrudes from the rear face of the receiver (Fig. 2) and its white neck indicates the "safe" position. Ease the pressure on the barrel, now insert a Diabolo pellet or 4.5 mm (.177) shots into the breech end of the barrel and press it flush with the end (Fig. 3). Then gradually return the barrel to its initial position. Now the air rifle is ready to fire while the safety is still on. The safety is disengaged by pressing the safety inside the receiver (white strip disappears). Disengage the safety of the weapon just before you intend to shoot, making sure the air rifle is pointed in a safe direction. The air rifle can also be put on "safe" mode anytime by pulling the safety out. 15

Trigger Pull Adjustment The trigger pull is adjustable in about 3-10 N range. For safety reasons the trigger pull has been adjusted at the factory to the maximum setting. Adjustments can be carried out only after removing the stock from barreled action (it is necessary to unscrew both front screws and rear screw of the stock). Loosen the spring which is slipped on the trigger (Fig. 3) and shift it to the lower recess or as the case may be take it out entirely. Then rescrew the stock on to the barreled action. During this procedure follow illustrations 4, 5 and 6: - place the barreled action on a mat with the trigger facing upwards, put the cocking lever into the groove in the receiver and piston (Fig. 4) - put the guide (Fig. 5) into the stock, so as to hold the guide in its place apply some preserving grease to the central section - slide the stock from above onto the barreled action (Fig. 6), install the screws and tighten them properly CAUTION: Be more careful when handling the air rifle with the trigger pull weight reduced! Sight Adjustments The air rifle has been sighted-in at the factory with an air rifle target at a distance of 10 m (11 yards). When you want to shoot at other distances or under different shooting conditions, it will be necessary to adjust the sights. Elevation correction is performed by a rear sight vertical screw (Fig. 7) Turning the rear sight vertical screw to the right elevates the rear sight (and in turn, the point of impact on the target). One full turn of the elevation screw adjusts the height by 3 cm (1.2 in) at a distance of 10 m (11 yards). Windage correction is performed as shown in Fig. 8. Partly lift up rear sight blade and move it to the side where you want your point of impact on the target to be shifted. Moving the blade by one spacing of the serration shifts this point of impact by 1 cm (.4 in) at a distance of 10 m (11 yards). 16

THE SLAVIA 631 MODEL DIFFERENCES SLAVIA 630 / 631 - INSTRUCTION MANUAL Cocking and Loading of Air Rifle Hold the forend of the air rifle in the right (left) hand and press the stock with your elbow or arm towards the body. With the other hand grasp the barrel close to the barrel housing, pull the pull bar to the front with the thumb and slightly tilt the barrel (Fig. 9). Then hold the barrel as close as possible to the front sight and apply downward pressure on the barrel to cock the air rifle. Further proceedings are the same as with the Slavia 630 air rifle. When returning the barrel to its initial position the locking pull bar self-locks into place. Trigger Pull Adjustment The trigger pull is adjustable in the 3-10 N range. For safety reasons the trigger pull has been adjusted at the factory to the maximum setting. Adjustments can be carried out with the screw located at the front part of the trigger guard (Fig. 10). By unscrewing the adjusting screw, the trigger pull weight is reduced. One full turn changes the trigger pull weight approx. 0.5 N. For easier operation, the screw is provided with a wide coin slot. CAUTION: Be more careful when handling the air rifle with the trigger pull weight reduced! Sight Adjustments The air rifle has been sighted - in at the factory with an air rifle target at a distance of 10m (11 yards). When you want to shoot at other distances or under different shooting conditions, it will be necessary to adjust the sights. Elevation correction is performed with the elevation dial knobs (Fig. 11). Turning the elevation dial knobs to the higher numbers elevates the rear sight (and, in turn the point of impact on the target). Turning the elevation dial knobs by one number shifts the point of impact by 3 mm at a distance of 10 m (11 yards). Windage correction is performed by a windage screw which is provided with a wide coin slot (Fig. 11). Turning the screw to the right shifts the rear sight to the right (and, in turn the point of impact on the target). For the checking there are scale lines on the rear sight leaf and the rear sight blade. One full turn of the windage screw shifts the point of impact by 10 mm at distance of 10 m (11 yards). NOTE: The numbers on the elevation dial knobs are just informative and do not refer to the actual range. Using the scope and receiver sight The Slavia 631 air rifle is provided with grooves on the receiver for the scope or receiver sight attachment. 17

MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS Cock the air rifle only a short time before shooting. Unnecessary cocking causes fatigue of the main spring and subsequently decreases the power. From time to time check the tightening of both front screws and also the rear screw of the stock and if necessary tighten them. After a few hundred shots, but at least once every 3 months the air rifle should be cleaned and preserved. Wipe the barrel bore with a clean and dry patch attached to the end of a cleaning rod. Repeat changing patches until the last patch comes out clean. When the barrel bore is very dirty clean it with a brush dipped into gun cleaning solution or into an oil. Wipe the barrel bore dry with a clean patch and check that all the lead residues have been removed (lead is more mat and darker than the steel surface). In case of need repeat this procedure. Finally preserve the barrel bore and all metal parts with a cloth soaked in gun oil. With the barrel cocked dip 1 or 2 drops of oil into the air channel in the body tube to lubricate the piston seal and also the body tube inner surface. Remove all excess oil. The cleaning rod and the brush must be inserted into the barrel bore from the chamber to prevent wear or damage to the muzzle. Pass the brush all the way through the barrel before reversing the movement. If you try to change directions with the brush in the barrel, the brush could stick. The maintenance of the stock can be carried out with a dry cloth or by some furniture polishing product. Keep your air rifle stored in a dry and dust-free environment. Regular care and proper handling will keep your air rifle looking always as new and its functioning will not be compromised. Piston Seal Replacement Using a screwdriver remove the piston seal by levering it out (Fig. 12). If the seal remains in the air rifle body tube, push it downwards, and to the hole in the center, screw - in a long enough rod provided with the M5 thread. Then by gradually pulling take the rod with the seal out. Press the new seal with the hand on to the piston front. To facilitate this operation the seal can be lubricated with a preserving grease or heated in oil to 50 C hot. In no case is the seal to be allowed to be forced on! After correct installation, there must be no gap between the seal and the piston front. Proceed carefully when introducing the piston back into the tube to avoid damage to the seal. 18
