Round pool 52 (1,32m) www.aquabois.com above ground or semi-inground Instructions for the assembly and installation of a wood pool Dear client, Congratulations, you have purchased a pool of superior quality and durability. We suggest that you carefully read the instructions to familiarize yourself with the various parts of your pool. Make sure you have a thorough understanding of all the steps before beginning the installation procedure. BE CAREFULL PLAN YOUR INSTALLATION Check local regulations on construction and on power installations. Make sure to follow all the safety standards regarding pool fences and covers. Choose an appropriate location while taking into account the following point: Distance between the pool and the fence. Appropriate electrical outlets Overhead electrical wires Surrounding trees (roots) Reflection of sun in your yard Underground cables and gas lines Location of the accessories (filter, platform, etc.) Check with your municipality TOOLS REQUIRED FOR THE ASSEMBLY: - measuring tape - garden rake - shovel - level (plumb line type) - knife - vibrating plate - string - electric screwdriver - wrench - stakes - 2 adhesive tape - air level - wheelbarrow - powerful vacuum - vice-grips - spray paint - power shovel ( semi-in-ground round model ) MATERIAL NEEDED FOR THE ASSEMBLY: - Building sand (bottom and cove) - Concrete block - Crush-stone 1. GROUND SURFACE AND LEVELNESS: It is important that the ground under your pool be firm and solid. The location must be free of grass, roots, rocks, or any other objects that may pierce the lining. 2. BUILDING AN APPROPRIATE COVE AT THE BASE OF THE POOL: This cove is extremely important because it prevents the lining slipping under the wall. Only use building sand. 3. BEFORE STARTING THE INSTALLATION : Make sure you have all the parts required for the installation (see parts list for above and semi inground pool). Should you discover any irregularity such as missing or defective parts, your dealer will promptly replace or provide these, as the case may be. IMPORTANT: If you choose to hire a professional installer or other person experienced in the area of pool installation, make sure that all the instructions provided by Aqua- Bois are followed with great care. Aqua-Bois declines all liability resulting of an inadequate installation.

Using a string and a stick, trace a circle with a radius 12 inches longer than that of the pool. Refer to figure 1.1 and the table above. Figure 1.1

2. PREPARING THE SITE * Remove the grass covering the area (R2, figure 1.1), while avoiding removing the picket ; * Level the whole surface and compact when needed ; * Make a saucer shape at the bottom (Figure 2.1) ; * Place the concrete blocks around the pool centered on the pool s edge (R1). Level and stabilize with crushed stones (figure 2.2) ; * Add 2 (5cm) of crushed stones at the pool s edge and compact. Figure 2.1 Figure 2.1 Figure 2.2

3. ASSEMBLING THE FLEXIBLE PANELS Fix on a diagonal the top of the panel on the previous one with a screw (AG). Then, use the panel clips (N) and the screws (AE) to fix the bottom of the panels together. Join the panels with the column (F) by levelling the column with the copping (figure 3.1). Use screws (AH) to fix everything together (figure 3.2). It is important to allow for the location of your filter system (A2) and attach panel (A3) in order to install them at the right spot. Figure 3.2 Figure 3.1 4. POSITIONING OF THE CABLES Install the 3 cables (W) by securing them with the cable clips (M) and screws (AE). There are three preperforated holes to this effect on the left of each panel (Figure 4.1). Join the cables to the attach panel (A3) by using the metallic joint (Y) and cable nuts (Z). Positioning of the cables (starting from the bottom) : 36 ¾ (93.35 cm) 19 ¾ (50.16 cm) 3 ½ (8.90 cm) Figure 4.1

5. SECURING THE CABLES The idea is to gradually tighten the cables (W) by starting from the bottom. During the tightening process, check the radiuses and wall levels and make sure that the cables are parallel around the pool. As illustrated by figure 5.1, use a vice-grip wrench to hold the cable, and an adjustable-end wrench to tighten the nuts. The end of cable must be inserted completely in the biggest hole of the metallic joint (Y) as shown by figure 5.2. FOR ABOVE-GROUND INSTALLATION : as indicated in figure 5.3, cover the metallic joints (Y) with the wooden attachment cover (AX) provided to this effect, and secure with wood screws (AH). FOR SEMIINGROUND INSTALLATION : as indicated in figure 5.4, cover each of the metallic joints (Y) with the resin attachment covers (L) provided to this effect, and secure them with wood screws (AH). IMPORTANT: CHECK THE RADIUSES AND THE LEVEL OF THE WALLS DURING THE TIGHTENING PROCESS. Above-Ground Semi-inground TIGHTEN WITH CAUTION. Figure 5.1 or Figure 5.2 Figure 5.3 6. PROTECTING THE SKIMMER AND THE BACKFLOW PLATES ET DE RETOUR D EAU Cover the steel plates edges with duct tape, ensuring that no metal cutting edges will damage the vinyl lining. Figure 5.4

7. SECURING THE INSULATING FOAM Check the inner wall of each panel to take out any wood chips that could damage the vinyl lining. As indicated in figure 7.1, unfold the foam on the wall, and place it under the coping. This fitting is permanently secured with screws (AE) in the holes provided to this effect. (Figure 7.2) Once the coping and foam are secured, cut the foam at the skimmer and at the backflow levels, while allowing the foam to cover the screws. Cover with another strip of dock tape. Figure 7.2 Figure 7.1 8. PREPARING THE SAND BOTTOM You may now spread 5 cm 2 of building sand on the bottom of the pool, and form a cove, i.e. a slant 10 cm (4 ) thick at the base of the wall. While shaping the cove, make sure you cover the isolating foam at the base of the pool in order to keep it tight. DO NOT USE FINE SAND or any other product referred to as «pool base» that may cause damage to the vinyl liner. The cove is very important because it prevents the liner to slide under the wall. Figure 8.1

9. INSTALLING THE LINER figure9. Lay the folded liner down at the center of the pool. Remove your shoes to avoid damaging the liner. Carefully unfold the liner, bringing the edge to the base of the wall. Make sure the pattern/print faces upwards (Figure 9.1). Lift the edges of the liner, and insert them into the coping notch as you move around (Figure 9.2). Use a vacuum cleaner; slide the hose between the wall and the liner at 5 cm (3 ) from the bottom. Take out all the air. Before you fill the pool, remember to: Check for, and eliminate creases; and Make sure there are no apparent defects. Figure 9.1 Figure 9.1 You may start to fill the pool. Remove the vacuum cleaner hose once the water level has reached 5 cm (2 ) in the bottom of the shallow section of the pool. Remember to: pull the liner firmly, but carefully; avoid pulling the liner by the sealing joints; avoid damaging the cove, or leaving air between the cove and the liner; and equally distribute any excess liner along the circumference of the wall. Figure 9.2 10. INSTALLING TOP RAILS First, place angled top rails (D) all around the assembled pool walls and align them carefully. Screw them in permanently on top of the columns (F) with screws (AH) (Figure 10.1). Figure 10.1 When all the top rails are in place, screw the back (Figure 10.2). Figure 10.2

11. INSTALLING SEAT CAPS Carefully insert the back seat caps Figure (O), 10.2 and secure them with screws (AE) (Figure 11.1). Then, insert the front section (P) (Figure 11.2), and secure it in the front with a screw (AI). The seat cap must be align with the column (F). Figure 11.1 Figure11.2 12. SPECIFICATION FOR SEMI INGROUND INSTALLATION The round model 52 (1.32 m) with 3 cables can be installed semi inground. Follow these instructions: * minimum depth : 0 (0 cm) * maximum depth : 36 (90 cm) Filling in: Use building sand to fill in around the pool. DO NOT COMPACT. To accelerate the compaction process, water the sand. Drainage : It is strongly recommended to install a French drain around the pool, and connect it to your house s drain or to a draining well. 13. MAINTENANCE GUIDE You pool s wood must be taking care of against weather factors, by regularly applying an oil base semi transparent stain. When preparing the area, leave a 12 (30cm) space free of grass and soil around the pool. Choose a landscape that uses materials such as river stones. For more information, consult the maintenance and questions section of our web site at: www.aquabois.com

SAFETY GUIDE You have purchased a family pool of superior quality and durability. Under normal use and care, it will provide you with years of enjoyment. As the owner of a pool, you are responsible for the protection of those who swims in it. We strongly recommend that you follow these few safety rules: A) SECURITY EQUIPMENT REQUIRED: 1) A light, strong pole, at least 12ft (3.66m) long, with blunt end; 2) A ring-type life preserver with attached rope of respectable length; 3) Emergency numbers posted next to the pool and to the telephone closest to the pool (police station, fire station, rescue units, doctor, nearest hospitals and ambulance service). B) WHEN YOU BECOME THE OWNER OF A POOL, YOU MUST BE FAMILIAR WITH IMPORTANT RULES, LIKE: 1) Install the filter at least 6 (2 m) from the pool ; 2) Never dive or jump from the edges of the pool ; 3) Never allow any children to swim without any kind of supervision ; 4) Never swim alone ; 5) Always remove pool ladder or raise safety ladder when the pool is not in use; 6) Wait at least an hour after a meal before swimming ; 7) Do not allow any pets in and around the pool ; 8) Do not tolerate any horse playing around the pool ; 9) Do not throw objects (sticks, stones, etc.) into the pool ; 10) Keep all electrical appliances away from the pool ; 11) Keep all metal and glass objects away from the pool ; 12) Do not allow sick people in the pool to avoid the spread of infection ; 13) Do not swim if there is a risk of a thunderstorm, since water attracts lighting. Unfortunately, pool owners often wait for incidents or accidents to occur before setting strict safety rules. We strongly recommend that you establish your rules before the first person steps into your pool. If possible, make sure that everyone using the pool has had some basic training in water safety and rescue methods. The Red Cross publishes a book on the subject with an emphasis on first aid for swimmers, how to assist a swimmer in difficulty, artificial respiration, and several other subjects. We strongly recommend that you refer to this publication. IMPORTANT: JUMPING OR DIVING INTO POOLS IS PROHIBITED.
