BOCCE BALL Equipment: Eight large bocce balls (half are a different color or pattern) Smaller object ball (sometimes called pallina or jack ) Playing Surface: Flat and level; packed dirt, fine gravel or short grass. Players: The game is played with 2 teams (1, 2 or 4 players) 1 player team- player throws all four balls 2 player team- each player throws two balls *4 player team- each player throws one ball Object: The object of the game is for one team to get as many of their balls closer to the pallina than the opposing team s closest ball. Play: Starts with a Coin Toss. The starting team chooses both the color (or pattern) of the ball they will play with and the first member throws the pallina followed by their first ball. *The opposing team attempts to roll their ball closer to the pallina than the starting team. If the opposing team uses all four balls and fails to get closer to the pallina than the starting ball, the starting team rolls each of their remaining balls, trying to place them closer than the opponent s closest ball. *If the opposing team succeeds in placing one of their balls closer to the pallina, the starting team must then roll again to attempt to get closer or better the point. Each team continues to roll until it beats the point of the opposing team.
*A player is allowed to roll his/her ball and knock an opponent s ball away from the pallina. A player can also knock or move the pallina toward their own team s ball(s). The pallina is playable anywhere on the playing surface. Scoring Frame- When all the balls have been played. *After each frame ONE team is awarded ONE point for each of its balls which is closer to the pallina than the closest opposing team s ball. *Max points per team- 4 points *No points scored if both opponent s balls are equal distance from the pallina. *The team that scores in a frame starts the next frame by throwing out the pallina and playing their first ball. *The game ends when a team reaches 16 points.
Cornhole (Also known as bean bag toss, corn toss, baggo or bags) Players Doubles or Singles. In doubles, one member of each team pitches from one cornhole platform and the other members pitch from the other platform. In singles, both teams pitch from the same platform. Innings Each inning as a top and bottom round of play. The top of the inning is when both players from each team pitch all 4 corn bags. The bottom inning is when the remaining teammates pitch their 4 corn bags from the other platform. *The inning is not complete until all teams pitch all four corn bags. Terms Corn Bag in-the-hole- when the corn bag is thrown through the hole in the platform. (3 points) Corn Bag in-the-count- when any part of the corn bag lands on a portion of the platform. (1 point) The bag must NOT touch the ground prior to coming to rest on the platform. Corn Bag out-of-the-count- the corn bag come to rest anywhere except in-thecount or in-the-hole and is worth zero points. Game Play *In doubles, the first side of the team alternate pitching corn bags until they have thrown all four corn bags. The remaining teammates continue to alternate in the same manner until all four corn bags are delivered and the inning complete. *A teammate may deliver the corn bag from either the left or right pitchers box but, must remain on that side for the entire inning. *Each player must deliver the corn bag within 20 seconds of stepping into the pitcher s box.
*The team who scored in the previous inning will pitch first in the next inning. If neither pitcher scores, the team who pitched second in the previous inning will pitch first in the next inning. Scoring The team who reaches (or exceeds) 21 points at the completion of the inning. *If the score is TIED at the end of the inning, play continues until one team achieves a higher score at the end of the inning. *Skunk- A team scores 7 or more points at the end of an inning before their opponents score any points. *Cancellation Scoring- corn bags-in-a-hole and corn bags in-the-count pitched by opponents during a half inning cancel each other out. Only non-cancelled corn bags are counted in the score for the inning.
Ladder Golf Players: Equipment: 2 or more players or teams. Bola- Two golf balls attached by a nylon rope. Ladder- consists of three steps: top, middle and bottom step. Rules: *A line must be set 5 paces (15 feet) from the ladder called the Toss Line. *Game played in Rounds- each team tossing 3 bolas. *A Coin Toss determines which team tosses first. *Teams must alternate throws. *Bolas can be tossed anyway player chooses (as long as it is tossed individually) and can be bounced off the ground. *The winner of the round earns the first toss in the next round. *Games are played to the EXACT score of 21. If the player goes over 21, that players points for that round do not count. *If the score is TIED- play in OVERTIME until one team ends a complete round 2 points ahead. The 2 point rule only applies to OVERTIME. Etiquette *Do not touch the player during tossing *No remarks, sounds or movements during a players turn. Scoring *Scoring is determined by the bolas that are still hanging from the steps after all bolas are tossed. *Players can knock-off bolas during the course of the game.
Points Top Step: 1 point Middle Step: 2 points Bottom Step: 3 points *Additional bonus of 1 point by either hanging ALL bolas on 1 step OR hanging bolas on all 3 (1-2-3) steps in one round. *Highest amount of points available per player is 10 points. Team Play Four players can play by alternating play each round.
