Previous meetings Head to Head No UEFA competition matches have been played between these two teams 2

Match background Austria have beaten Switzerland and draw with France on debut and are definitely through with a draw or if the Swiss do not beat Les Bleues. After two losses, Iceland are out and will finish fourth in Group C. Uniquely among the 24 group fixtures at UEFA Women's EURO 2017, Iceland and Austria are playing each other for the first time. In fact, the only competitive women's fixture at any level involving these countries was on 7 October 2011 when Iceland beat Austria 2-1 in a UEFA European Women's Under-17 Championship qualifying round match in Gloggnitz. Lára Einarsdóttir and Svava Rós Gudmundsdóttir scored for Iceland before Jelena Gatea pulled one back for the Austrians. Of the players that took part in that game, Sandra Jessen and Glódís Perla Viggósdóttir are in the Iceland selection while Nicole Billa, Manuela Zinsberger and Sophie Maierhofer are in the Austria squad. Coach Dominik Thalhammer was also in charge of that Austria U17 side. 3

Team facts Iceland EURO 2013: Quarter-final EURO best: Quarter-finals (2013) How they qualified: Group 1 winners, W7 D0 L1 F34 A2 Pts21 Coach: Feryr Alexandersson One to watch: Sara Björk Gunnarsdóttir (midfielder, Wolfsburg) What to watch out for: Long before Iceland's heroics at UEFA EURO 2016, the women had established themselves at the top level, qualifying in 2009 and getting through their group four years later. They achieved qualification this time with relative ease, only dropping points in a last-match defeat by Scotland with a finals place already secure. Iceland suffered a serious pre-tournament blow with the loss to injury of Margrét Lára Vidarsdóttir, whose goals have been a key reason for their rise in status over the last decade. Also out with the same cruciate ligament rupture is her sister Elísa and Dóra María Lárusdóttir. Still, they do boast ten-goal joint qualifying top scorer Harpa Thorsteinsdóttir as well as talented midfielders Hólmfrídur Magnúsdóttir, Gunnarsdóttir, Dagný Brynjarsdóttir and Fanndís Fridriksdóttir. Austria EURO 2013: Play-offs EURO best: First qualification How they qualified: Group 8 runners-up, W5 D2 L1 F18 A4 Pts17 Coach: Dominik Thalhammer One to watch: Nina Burger (forward, Sand) What to watch out for: Austria will be making their major tournament debut in the Netherlands, but the fact they were seeded second in their group (a ranking they justified handsomely) shows that this has been coming for a while. They reached the 2013 play-offs, having been pipped to automatic qualification on goal difference, and were second behind France in their 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup qualifying group. Indeed, from their April 2014 World Cup qualifying loss to France to a 1-0 home defeat by Norway some two years and a day later, Austria went 18 games unbeaten holding the likes of Spain and Italy and seeing off teams such as Australia during one nine-match winning run. 4
