3 Packaging Data Packaging Data The cylinders and valves supplied by BOC are all manufactured to recognised Australian, New Zealand and International standards. Australian and New Zealand made Special Gases and Special Gas Mixtures are supplied with cylinder outlet connections which comply with the requirements of AS 2473. Medical gas cylinders fitted with yoke outlets comply with the requirements of AS 2473.3. Imported Special Gases and Special Gas Mixtures conform to standards of their country of origin such as British Standards, European Standards, Standards of the Compressed Gas Association (CGA) of the USA and Japanese standards amongst others. Cylinder sizes and valve connections for all cylinders provided by BOC are detailed in this section. You should also note that the regulators recommended throughout this manual come equipped with the correct valve connection for their intended service. Note: Some imported and or electronic grade gases may have other connections not listed in this catalogue. Please contact your local Scientific Sales Specialist or our Scientific Support Centre for further details (refer to back cover for contact details). 40 SGEM 2006: Section 3 [Packaging Data]

3 Compressed Gas Outlets and Inlets USA Compressed Gas Association (CGA) Connections The outlet valve configuration of any compressed gas cylinder is dependent upon the type of cylinder, gas and pressure contained. The Compressed Gas Association has established standards as per CGA V1 for these outlets which have been adopted by industry throughout the United States of America. The CGA fittings usually consist of a nut, gland, and if required, a washer. The glands are 2.5 3 in total length to allow the regulator to be attached to the cylinder valve in the proper orientation. Gas Cylinders and Packs 3 Gas Cylinders Cylinder Manufacture Cylinders used for transport and storage of BOC compressed gases are manufactured in accordance with relevant Australian, New Zealand or overseas specifications approved by SAA Committee ME/2 gas cylinders. All have current test certificates Identification The gas name label, stencilling or component details should always be used to identify the contents of cylinders. Any label must not be removed or defaced. Any cylinder without a gas name label should be returned to the supplier for replacement. Cylinder Size and Content BOC cylinder sizes are denoted by letter code. The gas content of cylinders is measured in cubic metres, litres or kilograms. If volume unit is given, it refers to Standard Conditions i.e. 15 C and 1bar. Cylinder sizes, capacities and physical dimensions are shown below and on the preceding pages.
