DESCRIPTION FOR EVENT 8 Problem Statement To build a pair of non- programmable Robots out of Avishkaar kits that will sort out waste automatically. Problem Description: The arena has various kinds of wastes (paper, glass, plastic and metal) kept in the waste land. Each waste is classified by a specific colour (glass - blue, paper - green, plastic - yellow and metal - red). The pair of robots have to work in tandem to segregate the waste and push it to its designated recycling plant. Bots: Bot_1 has to identify the kind of waste and based on its type pass it onto the other Bot. Bot_2 has to collect the colored boxes from recycling areas and place inside in their specific recycling plant. Note: the size of the base of the both bots cannot be more than 8 inches by 8 inches - no limit on the height of the Robot. Arena The length & width of the arena is 8 feet x 8 feet. Bot_1 will be kept anywhere in the Waste Land Area. Bot_2 will be kept anywhere in the Avishkaar Area (black coloured area) (as shown in the arena image below). All the props are of the suggestive shapes made either out of Avishkaar kits or EVA sheets. Arena Details In the Arena above, the white circular area (in the centre) represents the wasteland where all different kinds of waste would be kept. The radius of the wasteland is 18 inches. Bot_1 would be kept anywhere on the waste land. The coloured circular area (outside of the white circular area) represents the recycling area. Whenever all the four wheels or the base of the Push Bot goes out of the recycling area (and into the Avishkaar Area), a complete round would be considered. The outer boundary of the arena is called the Avishkaar Area (black coloured area). Bot_2 is kept anywhere in the Avishkaar Area. Gripper cannot go out of the Avishkaar Area - doing so would

warrant completion of one round (out of the maximum four). The dimension of recycling plant basket area is 7 inches x 7 inches. Arena Tasks The following tasks should be performed on the arena: Moving Waste Boxes to their designated collection area: Bot_1 has to move waste boxes to their designated collection area. A partial movement - partly destination area (RED/GREEN/BLUE/YELLOW) and partly their wasteland area (or any other designated collection area) will be considered legitimate, however, will not fetch the complete points. Dropping Waste Boxes to their designated collection boxes: Bot_2 has to pick/drop/push/drag the waste boxes to their respective recycling plants. Bot_2 can touch the waste boxes only when they are in their respective designated recycling area (either fully or partially). If the Bot_2 tries to pick/drop/push/drag the waste boxes if it s in a wrongly designated area or if it s in the central wasteland, it may warrant instant disqualification by the referee.

Scoring Tasks Successfully move the Waste Box (fully) to its designated area by Bot_1 Successfully move the Waste Box (partially) to its designated area by Bot_1 Successfully dropping the Waste box to its designated collection box by Bot_2 Score +100 +20 +25 The total score would be calculated as per the completion of tasks above. Prop Description Rules and Regulations The duration of the run will be four minutes and there won t be any trial time provided for the run. There will be four runs provided during the competition. Note: The props (waste items) would be kept on the wasteland randomly by the referee and the participating teams will have no say on where what is kept. Participants can t touch any Bot while running without the permission of the referee. If the participants do so, the referee may disqualify the team. A re-fill (putting all the props back to the wasteland) shall be allowed once both the bots have successfully completed their tasks. The timer would be stopped while the refill happens. A refill would be warranted even in the scenario where the Bot_1 has moved all the boxes from the Waste Land area, but, Bot_2 has not dropped the boxes to the recycling

plant as the Bot_1 had pushed the boxes into incorrect designated areas. Note: Such a round would be considered completely legitimate and shall be counted. If any of the bots deviate from their designated paths (Bot_1 goes out of the recycling plant area - all four of its wheels or Bot_2 goes out of the Avishkaar Area (black coloured area) - any of its wheels), the referee would consider it as a valid round - and only four such or complete rounds are allowed. Bot_2 can pick/drop/push/drag a waste block if and only if it has reached its designated color area (fully or partially). Bot_2 cannot touch any of waste block when it is in the wasteland - doing so would warrant disqualification. Bot_2 has to successfully place the correct waste block inside the designated recycle plant basket then only refer
