Everyone Welcome Skate, Stick & Puck - Shared ice to drop-in & work on your passing, stick handling or casual skating. For all ages. Players must bring their own stick and wear a helmet and gloves. Sponge pucks only $2 (deposit required). Family Skate - A great time for families to have fun! Enjoy a special beginner s corner for preschoolers. Strollers allowed on the ice with permission, please. See the web for special event theme skates. Parent and Child Hockey - Sponge puck hockey with a special area for beginners. Parents must go on the ice. Children to wear helmets and face mask please. Admission price includes an adult and up to two children and children s rentals. Sponge pucks only ($2 deposit required). Parent and Child Skate - Children under 8 years are welcome with their parents/guardians to skate to music and have fun with skating equipment. Please note: This skate becomes an Everyone Welcome Skate on Pro-D Days and Stat holidays. Check the website for special events and fun themed skates! Extra skates during Christmas break. Pick up a flyer at reception. Duffer Hockey Duffer Hockey Over 40 s and 50 s Drop in co-ed hockey for players 40 & 50 yrs + Register online at 6:30pm the day before you want to play. Players MUST arrive in person by 8:20am to keep their spot Duffer Lunch time Hockey Drop in co-ed hockey for players 18yrs + Register online at 6:45pm the day before you want to play. Players MUST arrive in person by 11:35am to keep their spot Steps to register online: Step 1: Ensure your personal Oak Bay online account and login is set up. Step 2: Login with user ID and password, at 6:30pm or 6:45pm the day before. Step 3: Click the Schedule Button near the top left of the screen. Step 4: Click Duffer Hockey under the Skating menu. Step 5: Select date and type of Duffer and click Reserve. (You are added to the waitlist if session is full) Step 6: Annual Passholders are recognized and will automatically be given the no fee option. For all others, choose your method of payment. Econo ticket holders are the only participants able to register online and submit payment (econo ticket) at Reception. Step 7: All registrants must check in 10 minutes prior with Reception in person! Duffer Hockey- Full gear is mandatory. Visor, neck-guard & shoulder pads are highly recommended. Goalies play for FREE. Goalies may register up to two weeks in advance online or call in to 250-595-7946. Please note: Preregistration privileges for Duffer players or goalies will be revoked after 2 unexplained absences.

The adult will be given tools and skills to assist their child in accomplishing the basics of skating. The instructor will circulate class to assist the group. Skills adults will work on with their child are: balancing on two feet, touching toes, marching, falling down and getting up! Participants must wear skates and CSA helmets. 7/$55 8/$63 9/$71 PreSchool 1 No Prerequisite (Cost higher due to 1:4 ratio) This class utilizes a 1:4 instructor to participant ratio to ensure that the child builds confidence and has fun on the ice. Participants will be taught basic skating skills including: balancing on two feet, touching toes, walking forwards, marching, and falling down and getting up. Parent and Tot is not a prerequisite. PreSchool 2 Prerequisite PreSchool 1 This class is for children who can skate independently. Skills include: gliding, two foot jumps, making snow, and walking backwards. PreSchool 3 Prerequisite PreSchool 2 PreSchool 4 Prerequisite PreSchool 3 Children will learn skills in this course including: v-pushes, one foot gliding, two foot jump while gliding, walking backwards with some glide, two foot quarter-turns on the spot, and stopping. Children will learn skills in this course including: two-foot glides on a curve, walking cross cuts, backward sculling, and backwards stopping.

Skills covered include: forwards gliding, marching forward, making snow, falling down and getting up, and walking backwards. This class is for children who can skate independently on the ice. Skills include: forward sculling, one foot forward glides, stopping, walking backwards with some glide, and two foot half turns on the spot. Children will learn skills including: one foot glides on a curve, forwards walking cross cuts, backwards skating and sculling, two foot backwards glide to one foot, and snowplow stop. Children will learn skills in this course including: two foot stop, forwards crosscuts, turning forwards to backwards and backwards to forwards, and two foot jump in a glide backwards. Children will learn skills in this course including: Backwards Mohawk turn, two foot stop in both directions, one foot jump gliding forward, fast backwards start and fast forward start from back stop. Learn to Skate 6 provides an introduction to advanced skating skills, while continuing to focus and enhance acquired skills. This class allows participants the opportunity to request specific skills they would like to focus on during unstructured practice time with instructor supervision. 76 PRESCHOOL HOCKEY POND PUPPIES 3-5yrs Pond Puppies will learn the basic elements of hockey in a fun and encouraging environment. Full equipment is required. Balance, acceleration, agility, speed, explosive starts, edge control, and game stride are all part of this challenging and rewarding program. Power Unlimited offers high quality instruction with a dedication to the improvement of each student. This is not a beginner skating program. Skaters must be comfortable on the ice with skating experience, either with a hockey team or completed Level 4 of the Learn to Skate program. Full hockey gear is mandatory. (Team registration must be paid in full by one player to hold a team spot for no less and no more than 16 players) Goalies must register as an individual and may request to be placed with a team.
