Beach Volleyball beach VOLLEYBALL men & women 007 SWATCH FIVB Junior World ships Italy and Brazil on the highest step of the podium beach VOLLEYBALL men & women 007 SWATCH FIVB World Tour The successful events in Russia, P The SWATCH-FIVB Junior World ships in Modena closed after six incredible days of good matches and a final with,00 spectators. In the Women s event, the SWATCH FIVB Junior World ships celebrates Lili-Seixas, who continue to keep at high level Brazilian Beach Volleyball history with four successes in the last four editions. In sunny weather condition, the Brazilian consistent serve, good ball control and high level of tactics helped them defeat Australia s Palmer-Rohkamper - (5-7, -7, 5-7). Italian and Brazilian SWATCH FIVB Junior World s in Modena I m extremely happy! In the final, we played very good, said Barbara Seixas, and we won the gold medal. The Australian team played also a tough match. This result is somewhat surprising because this year I changed my partner. All the games have been very difficult and the final match has been really hard. We have improved match by match and we have fixed our team play very well during the games. In the bronze medal match, Van Iersel and Wesselink defeated Liliana-Baquerizo -6-9 in 4 minutes. Spanish had many problems in reception and digs, while the Dutch played a very good game. After yesterday result said Marleen Van Iersel we wanted to win a bronze medal. We hoped to do better than last year, but it wasn t possible. Yesterday, I cried and cried because I was very sad about the result continued Marloes Wesselink. We really wanted to play for the gold medal. In the Men s competition, the Italian pair Giontella - Nicolai win came also thanks to the fans support. It was an excellent game which the Italians claimed 5- in the tie break. It s the most beautiful satisfaction of my life commented Francesco Giontella (SWATCH MVP). I worked to get this world title for the whole year. I dedicate this gold medal to all the staff of the National Team. Thanks to all the fans, it s really beautiful to win at home. Spanish lost the final: We could win said Adrian Gavira Collado after the match. I do not know why we lost concentration. Alejandro Fernandez Rojas on the other side was a little disappointed as he and his partner, who celebrated a straight-set semifinal victory over Daalmeijer/Oude Elferink (NED) to reach the final, did not show their best performance at the beginning of set three: If we had not fallen asleep on the court, we could have won this match. Germany won the bronze medal. The team Erdmann-Windscheif imposed itself against the Dutch team Daalmeijer- Oude Elferink, -0 (-4, -6). I m so happy especially because my partner had an injured ankle and he played nevertheless, feeling pain all the time asserted Jonathan Erdmann. And besides, this is my first world medal! Final Results Men rd - 4th places: Erdmann-Windscheif (GER) vs. Daalmeijer-Oude Elferink (NED) - 0 (-4, -6) st-nd place: Giontella-Nicolai (ITA) vs. Gavira-Rojas (SPA) - (-, -7, 5-) SWATCH MVP: Francesco Giontella (ITA) Women rd-4th places: Van Iersel and Wesselink (NED) vs. Liliana-Baquerizo (SPA) - 0 st-nd place: Lili-Seixas(BRA) vs. Palmer-Rohkamper (AUS) - SWATCH MVP: Barbara Seixas (BRA) August 9-Sept. - Women s Open St. Petersburg - Russia - Podium Finish Larissa - Juliana BRA The top spot on the women s podium at the USD 400,000 St. Petersburg Open had the same look as the first two years of the SWATCH FIVB World Tour event on the Neva River with Brazilians Juliana Felisberta Silva and Larissa Franca capturing their third-straight gold medal at the Peter-And-Paul Fortress. With their - and -7 victory in 48 minutes over fourth-seeded Jen Boss and April Ross of the United States, Juliana and Larissa also claimed their thirdstraight SWATCH gold medal and fifth this season while collecting the USD,000 St. Petersburg Open first-place prize. The title win also avenged an earlier setback in the competition to Americans as Boss and Ross advanced to their second SWATCH FIVB World tour semi-final by defeating Juliana and Larissa -7 and -7 in the winner s bracket quarter-finals. For their second medal of the season after winning the Norwegian grand slam, Boss and Ross split USD,000 for second-place. In the bronze medal match, third-seeded Nicole Branagh and Elaine Youngs earned the United States second podium spot with a -4 and -4 win in 6 minutes over fifth-seeded Vassiliki Arvaniti and Vasso Karadassiou of Greece. 007 SWATCH FIVB World Tour oland and Brazil August 0-Sept. - Men s Open St. Petersburg - Russia - Podium Finish Harley - Pedro BRA Brazilians Harley Marques and Pedro Salgado overcame the cool weather and the Russian Beach Volleyball fans to win their second-straight SWATCH FIVB World Tour event. With a -4 and - win in 44 minutes over second-seeded Dmitri Barsouk and Igor Kolodinsky of Russia, Harley and Salgado completed the USD 400,000 St. Petersburg Open with an 8-0 record to share the USD,000 first place prize while netting their third SWATCH gold medal this season. It was tough playing out there today, said the -year old Salgado. I think our experience of playing in gold medal matches was the difference. The Russians were nervous in the first set and we took advantage of their errors. Dmitri and Igor settled down in the second set to get the crowd back into the match, but again, we were able to come back after trailing early. In the All-Brazilian bronze medal match, Marcio Araujo and Fabio posted a - and - win in 8 minutes over seventh-seeded Pedro Cunha and Franco Neto to share the USD 6,000 third-place prize. We look forward to returning here next year on journey to the Beijing 008 Olympic Games, said Ricardo, who was named nd place Baracetti and Conde of Argentina in Poland the SWATCH most outstanding player at the fourth annual event. The fans appreciate the competition, and the promoter and his staff treated us great. It is such a relaxing spot until the competition begins on the court. We are very pleased with this win, especially since it was over a rival team from South America. In securing their 9th SWATCH gold medal and 0th FIVB title since the formation of their partnership at the end of the 00 season, the top-seeded Emanuel and Ricardo were defeating Baracetti and Conde for the th time in international Beach Volleyball meetings. In the All-Brazilian bronze medal match, second-seeded Marcio Araujo and Fabio Magalhaes rebounded from a three-set semi-final setback to Baracetti and Conde to defeat third-seeded Pedro Cunha and Franco Neto -6 and -5 in 5 minutes.
