Stainless steel sink Beautiful wood interior Abundant cabinet and drawer space Carpet over teak flooring Interior salon shades About the builder Buddy Davis was one of the most widely known and respected of North Carolina boat builders. Beginning as a young deck hand, he worked for some of the Carolina fishing legends including Omie Tillett and Warren O'Neal. In 1967 Davis convinced O'Neal to allow him to become an apprentice during the winter boat building season in the Outer Banks. In 1973 Davis began 'Davis Boatworks' in Manteo, building his first boat, Capt. B.C., built for Charter Captain Buddy Cannady. He later move his shop to Wanchese, building boats with the likes of Sunny Briggs and Billy Holton. Davis was one of the first boat builders to create boats with diagonal juniper plank covered in fiberglass and later changed to diagonal plywood covered with fiberglass for strength and durability. Davis learned these techniques from Merritt Boats and Rybovich Yachts, famous boat builders from Florida. In 1981 Davis began building jig boats rather than the traditional plank on frame and later in 1983 he evolved into the molded fiberglass, semicustom sport fishing boats. Building boats from 28 feet to 80 feet, Davis introduced the world to the 'Carolina flare'. A skilled boat builder and innovator, Davis' boat designs had a lasting impact on sportfishing and boat building heritage.
