MANDURAH PIRATES RUGBY UNION FOOTBALL CLUB EST. 1995
WE. LOVE. RUGBY. Rugby Union in the Peel region has been firmly and warmly embraced by the Mandurah community since the establishment of Mandurah Pirates Rugby Union Club in 1995. It has been a club founded on core community values to develop the region's sporting youth. The Club prides itself on providing a friendly, supportive environment to promote the participation and potential of rugby players within the Peel region. Historically, rugby players in the region who have demonstrated rugby potential have been encouraged to commute to a Perth metropolitan Club to further their rugby development. The Mandurah Pirates are now proud to now be able to state that with its quality junior and senior coaching and support staff players now have an opportunity to achieve this through their local Mandurah rugby club the Pirates.
OUR STORY Mandurah Pirates Rugby Union Football Club is an amateur rugby club formed in 1995. It is the only Rugby Union club in Mandurah/Peel region. Our strong development program has now resulted in us fielding 16 junior teams from Under 6 s to Under 18 s, an U20 s Colts side and two Senior Teams. We are a member of Rugby WA and all our teams play against opposition from all over Perth and its surrounds. Our club is situated at the Meadow Springs Sporting Facility. The grounds are indicative of the recognition by the Mandurah community of rugby s expansion into the sporting lives of residents of the Peel region. With players who have a passion for the game and an experienced team of coaches, the Mandurah Pirates have succeeded in firmly establishing itself within the Western Australian rugby community and the club is determined to continue to develop its profile and influence to provide a sporting service which benefits the local community.
OUR BELIEFS Mandurah Pirates RUFC are proud to be an all-inclusive club. We want everyone to see beyond the cauliflower ears and appreciate the sport for the role it plays in empowering our youth. Rugby Union players all have a place on the field... whether you re big or small, short or tall - there is position to suit all body types, male and female, and we pride ourselves on embracing this diversity. Player retention is important to us, and we constantly look at ways of keeping our members healthy, happy and committed. Our coaching and management staff are encouraged to participate in the RugbyWA coaching courses to better understand how to work with players of all ages, and nurture their natural ability to play Rugby. Those that come to us with limited skills soon turn things around with the guidance and encouragement of coaches and fellow team members. Our success is measured not by the victories we have achieved, but through the development of each and every player at the end of each season. At Mandurah Pirates RUFC, we have a ZERO TOLERANCE to bullying. Humility and respect is paramount in our teachings and core values. For us, being POSITIVELY FIT is all about having a positive outlook on life and keeping our players centred, and grounded. We are not just a club, we are a family.
OUR COMMITTMENT Since 2001 Mandurah Pirates RUFC has been one of the fastest growing clubs in the competition. Interest in rugby has remained strong since the introduction of the Western Force in the International Super Rugby competition. The club is proud to have a diverse membership group including white collar career people, blue collar tradespeople and numerous small business owners. Many nations are represented in the club, displaying the diversity of the sport. Most excitingly though is the trend towards the next generation with many of our elder statesmen' now seeing their siblings picking up the boots that their father may have recently 'hung up'. Most of these people live or work within our community, which in turn provides local business access to a significant cross section of the local communities and subsequently, potential customers. The club is committed to providing quality outcomes for all members. We are constantly identifying opportunities for improvement in the following areas... Junior and youth development: a sustainable future for the club and rugby in Mandurah and Western Australia. Coach development and training: ensuring all coaches are educated and able to teach the correct methods and techniques. Equipment upgrades: ensuring all teams have the necessary training equipment. RugbyWA: keeping a close relationship with RugbyWA to understand policy and seek opportunities for players to pursue rugby pathways.
OUR COMMUNITY Mandurah Pirates RUFC is one that sees its members family frequent the clubhouse often, and it also attracts friends and family from the wider community. We have cheap eats on a Thursday night and our clubhouse creates a warm and inviting locale for all. It is here you will often see dads and sons come together for a drink, a chat or a laugh, and grandparents come to watch their grandchildren train and play. We work hard to create opportunities for everyone to feel connected, and we value the stories and advice on how the game should be played. We encourage family to get involved, and many of them spend countless hours during the season volunteering their time to make the club a better place. Events such as band nights, quiz nights and the routine Thursday night dinners are all a wonderful way of enhancing the social fabric of our tight-knit club.
