HUNTER 1: 370 L x 250 W Grass HUNTER 2: 143 L X 190 W Grass EQUITATION RING: 200 L X 100 W - All Weather RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR HORSE SHOW 1.Every class offered herein which is covered by the specifications of the current United States Equestrian Federation Rule Book will be conducted and judged in accordance therewith. *2. In accordance with rule GR801.2, ALL PERSONS MUST WEAR PROTECTIVE HEADGEAR (ASTM APPROVED HELMET) WHILE MOUNTED ANYWHERE ON THE GROUNDS. *3.Riders may choose to wear protective vests in lieu of or in addition to a show jacket. All other attire rules still apply. 4.MEMBER LONG ISLAND HIGH SCORE AWARDS ASSOCIATION. All points won at this show will count toward the annual Long Island High Score Awards. In order to be eligible for an award in any LIHSAA section, a horse, pony or rider must have shown in that section in at least six member shows. *5. The following requirments and recommendations have been drafted by the management of this horse show in consultation with our show veterinarian and the NY State Division of Animal Industry: All horses being brought onto the grounds must be accompanied by a Statement of Health signed by a licensed veterinarian showing vaccination against EHV-4/1 with the most recent booster being within 120 days of the show. 6.ENTRIES CLOSE AT 6PM THE TUESDAY PRIOR TO THE SHOW. Post Entries may be accepted at a cost of $30. 7.NO BACK NUMBER WILL BE GIVEN OUT WITHOUT AN OPEN CHECK, PROOF OF A NEGATIVE COG- GINS DATED WITHIN 6 MONTHS AND ENTRY BLANK SIGNED BY OWNER, EXHIBITOR OR HIS AUTHO- RIZED AGENT AND TRAINER. 8.A processing fee of $50 or 10% of the check will be made for all non-negotiable returned checks. 9.All exhibitors in the Junior, Pony and Children s (Pony) Hunter Section must present their United States Equestrian Federation measurement cards at the Show Office before numbers may be picked up. 10.All exhibitors in the Amateur Sections must present their amateur USEF certification at the Show Office before numbers may be picked up. To speed processing you may send a photocopy of your card along with your entry blank. 11.If necessary to meet time schedule requirements and preserve a balance with entries in other divisions, show management reserves the right to limit the number of entries accepted in each division, (first come, first served basis). Also reserved is the right to move the location of classes and adjust the time schedule and add a dotted line on the course if, in the opinion of management, circumstances dictate such changes. 4

12.Classes with insufficient entries may be canceled or combined. 13.Should any question or dispute arise that is not provided for in the rules, refer to the Show Management, WHOSE DECISION SHALL BE FINAL. 14.Trophy or money and eight ribbons in all classes. Prize monies issued are applied to entries. 15.In all Hunter Classes, fences shall simulate those found in the hunting field such as rails, gates, aiken, oxer, coop, roll-top, etc. 16.HUNTER UNDER SADDLE CLASSES. To be shown at a walk, trot and canter, both ways of the ring. Light contact with horses/ponies mouth is required. Horses may be asked to hand gallop collectively one way of the ring at the judge s discretion, but never more than eight at one time. Children s Hunters will not be asked to hand gallop. 17.HUNTER CHAMPIONSHIP AND RESERVE. Champion and reserve titles shall be awarded to two of the four horses/ponies which have acquired the most points performing over fences. In addition, only these four horses will receive full points for the Under Saddle Class, and half points won in the model. 18.EQUITATION CHAMPIONSHIP AND RESERVE. The champion and reserve titles will be awarded to the rider acquiring the most points in each Equitation Section, except Open. In the event of equality of points for Championship, the rider with the most points over fences will be awarded the Championship. In the case of equal points being accrued in classes over fences, the rider with the highest number of points in the first class over fences will be awarded the championship. 19.A rotating jumping order will be established for all classes over fences. Post entries in jumping classes which are received after the jumping order is established will automatically go first in the order in each class. Riders who have conflicts due to classes in more than one ring must see the Gateperson in charge of the jumping order so that necessary adjustments can be made. Trainer conflicts will not be honored. 20.Once a horse is entered and accepted by the show, it may not be withdrawn from competition in the show without permission of management. Exhibitors shall be responsible for entry fees of all horses entered by them or their agents even though the payment of these fees is not submitted along with entry blank. In any event, and regardless of reason, horses which are not shown in classes in which they are entered forfeit their fees, except if a horse is injured or becomes ill prior to the class or classes entered. The entry fee in this case will be refunded or dropped less an office charge of $35.00 upon receipt of a certificate signed by a licensed veterinarian and presented NO LATER THAN ONE HOUR BEFORE SCHEDULED CLASS. Once the show has started, only certificates from the OFFICIAL SHOW VETERINARIAN will be accepted. 21.ALL DOGS MUST BE KEPT LEASHED AT ALL TIMES WHILE ON THE SHOW GROUNDS. 22.The committee reserves the right to add or vary the list of judges if deemed necessary. 23.THE SAGAPONACK HORSE SHOW & TOPPING RIDING CLUB, their Officials and employees will not be responsible for any accident or loss which may occur to any exhibitor, spectator, guest, rider, groom attendant, or other employee, animal or equipment at this show. 24. ALL HUNTER CLASSES WILL BE JUDGED ON PERFORMANCE and SOUNDNESS. 25. Minors who do not have a valid driver s license which allows them to operate a motorized vehicle in the state in which they reside will not be permitted to operate a motorized vehicle of any kind, including, but not limited to, golf carts, motorcycles, scooters, or farm utility vehicles, on the competition grounds of licensed competitions. Minors who have a valid temporary license may operate the above described motorized vehicles as long as they are accompanied by an adult with a valid driver s license. The parent(s), legal guardian(s), or individual who signs the entry blank as a parent or guardian of a minor operating a motorized vehicle in violation of this rule are solely responsible for any damages, claims, losses or actions resulting from that operation. Violations of this rule will be cause for sanctions against the parent(s), guardian(s) and/or trainer(s) who are responsible for the child committing the offense. Penalties may include exclusion of the child, parent(s), guardian(s), and/or trainer(s) from the competition grounds for the remainder of the competition and charges being filed against any of the above individuals in accordance with Chapter 6. Wheelchairs and other mobility assistance devices for individuals with disabilities are exempt from this rule. * New Rule 5

LONG ISLAND HIGH SCORE AWARDS ASSOCIATION 2014 LIHSAA SPECS SHORT STIRRUP: A rider who enters and shows in the Short Stirrup Division (Equitation or Hunter) shall not be eligible to enter any other section or division at that show. Riders must be age 12 or under as of December 1 of the current show year. In order to split the section 8 are needed, at least 3 in each section. Section to be split by age. 10 and under and 11-12. Riders who accumulate 350 points in Short Stirrup Equitation are pointed out of the division and no longer eligible to show in this division at the end of the show year. Permissible test for the Short Stirrup Equitation is USEF Hunter Seat Equitation Test #1. (Halt and/or back). Courses for all short stirrup classes must consist of at least six (6) cross rails not to exceed 18. In the Short Stirrup Hunter Section, courses must contain 1 change of direction. Points for Short Stirrup Equitation will be accrued to bronze, silver and gold medal status as follows: Bronze Medal 85 points Silver Medal 200 points Gold Medal 350 points. LIHSAA MODIFIED CHILDRENS HUNTER: Two sections must be offered: Ponies and Horses. If there are less than 3 entries in either the Pony section or the Horse section, both sections must be combined. Ponies to jump 2 and horses to jump 2 6. A rider who enters and shows in the Modified Children s Hunter Division must be eligible as a limit equitation rider for the current horse show year as of December 1. Riders may not cross enter into the Children s Hunter division. LIHSAA MODIFIED ADULT HUNTERS: Fences 2 3-2 6. Open to horses and ponies to be ridden by an adult amateur rider who has not shown in a Hunter, Jumper or Equitation division with a fence height in excess of 2 6 more than three times in the previous year. Riders may not cross enter into any other division at the same show where fences are higher than 2 6. LIHSAA LOW HUNTERS: No Restrictions as to horse/pony or rider, no restrictions as to cross entering. Fences 2 6. At the discretion of Show Management a Handy Hunter Class may be offered in this division. USEF specs apply. LIHSAA JUNIOR EQUITATION DIVISIONS ROBERT HOSKINS MINI MEDAL: Open to Junior riders who have not reached their 18th birthday and who have not won three (3) blue ribbons in any 3 6 or higher equitation class prior to the closing date for entries for this show. To be shown over a course of not less than eight obstacles not exceeding 3 which must include a combination including an oxer, and two changes of direction. Two or more tests of the top four contestants are required. Tests 1-19. Only one rider per horse. ROSS REISNER MINI PHA: To be run in accordance with current PHA equitation rules. Rider must be a Member of the LIPHA as of the date he/she competes in an Mini PHA Medal Class in order for points to count. Fences at 3. HUGH J.B. CASSIDY III MINI MACLAY: Open to Junior riders who have not reached their 18th birthday and who have not won three (3) blue ribbons in a any 3 6 or higher equitation class prior to the closing date for entries for this show. All contestants are required to perform over at least eight obstacles not exceeding 3 with or without wings. A minimum of 12 riders if available is required to show at a walk, trot and canter. To be judged on seat, hands, guidance and control of the horse. The Under Saddle performance of those riders selected to show under saddle shall count 50%. Tests 1-19. Only one rider per horse. Each competitor will jump one round of approximately 10 fences not to exceed 3 in height with spreads to 3. The twelve horses with the highest scores from the first round will return to jump a second round over a different course. LIHSSA JAMES RICE DERBY (AUGUST ONLY) Entry Fee $20 per rider To be run at 3 heights: 2 0 open to small/medium ponies with non-professional riders. 2 6 and 3 0 sections open to Junior, Amateur, and Professional Riders on Horses and ponies. A rider is not limited to the number of horses he/she may ride. Horse and ponies may not be entered in any class exceeding their competing height at the same horse show. To be judged on style and performance. To be scored under the open numerical judging system. Spreads not to exceed fence height. The First round to be over a Classic-type course of 8-12 fences. The top 12 will return to jump a Second round. The Second round may include handy-type elements such as roll-backs and hand galloping and trotting a fence. Scores will be added to determine the winners. Three horses must complete the first round in order to fill the division. A rider must compete in a minimum of 5 James Rice Derby s at the same height to be eligible for a year end award. The year end awards may be split into Professional and Junior/Amateur sections if entries warrant. New for 2014! Series Champion Awards To be awarded to the exhibitor with the highest points in their respective division from both July and August horse shows. Points will be calculated in accordance with USEF regulations for each horse show and combined for a cumulative total. Series Champion and Series Reserve Champion will be awarded.
