November General Membership Meeting Minutes November 17 th, 2016, Jim s Razorback Pizza 2020 W 6 th St, Fayetteville Meeting was called to order by President Shirley Shelby at 7:02 p.m. We began our meeting with a Moment of Silence in remembrance of Freddy Napier. Minutes from the October general membership meeting Motion by Cindy Pharr to accept the minutes as published, second by Sarah Markley. Motion passed. Treasurer s Report Cathy Wissehr made a motion to accept the treasury report as published, Sarah Markley seconded. Motion passed. Membership Report Lynn Francis gave the membership report. We had 3 new/renewed memberships this month. Old Business: Nominations Cindy Pharr made a motion to nominate Misty McCarty and Jennifer Rumsey to fill the 2 open spots on the Board of Directors. Shannon Blanchard seconded the motion. Motion passed. Youth Update We discussed possible youth activities for the Christmas party, including cookie decorating and goodie bags. Team Tournament paperwork is due February 1 st. We need the following information for youth who want to participate: Name & Address, Horse Name and Registration Number, and the specific division they will compete in. (Can choose 2). There is a team for A-shows and a team for open shows. Riders can compete on both teams. Youth must be AHA members to participate. AHA Update This week is the AHA Convention. Pat Barton represented us and has our voting recommendations from the October meeting. Region 9 Nothing to report at this time. ARAB Family We sent a plant to Norma in memory of Freddy. He will be missed. Also, we will be keeping the Blanchard family in our thoughts, as Mike Blanchard s brother recently passed away. ANWARC We discussed possible rule change proposals made at the ANWARC general meeting. Motions were made to replace the Novice Horse classes with an Open WTC class in each division, and to replace 10 and Under WT with Advanced English Equitation in the English Division and Open Ranch Horse Pleasure in the Western Division. There is also a proposal to change the Open WT class specifications so that the canter restriction would be discipline specific (entering in Open WT English would not disqualify an exhibitor from cantering in the Western classes and vice versa). The last motion is to change the Greener than Grass specifications so that it is only for riders in their first year of showing that discipline. We will vote on all of these rule changes at the ANWARC Banquet on January 15 th. Year-End Awards Lynn Francis picked up the Hay Bags from J Bar H. Helen Shiro did a wonderful job as usual. ARAB Fun Show Dates The Spring Show will be April 9 th at Jasper Springs. We are still waiting to hear back from Marchant s arena to confirm the fall date. Christmas Party We will have our regular Dirty Santa gift exchange, as well as appetizers and finger foods. Encourage everyone to bring kids. New Business: Fun Show Showbill Dana Crawley suggested adding ARAB specific performance classes at ARAB fun shows, which led to a discussion of the show bill in general. We decided to have a full review of the show bill at the January meeting. Equine Photographer Dana Crawley suggested hiring an equine photographer and having a picture day open to everyone in the club. High Point Congratulations to this year s High Point Award Winners: Juvenile English & Western Caroline Crank Senior English & Western Kim Landa Sarah Markley made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Shannon Blanchard seconded. Motion passed. Meeting adjourned at 8:08 pm. 2

ANWARC BANQUET NOTICE - JANUARY 2017 Happy New Year! ANWARC will be paying out over $11,000 in Year End awards for our 2016 show season! A BIG Thank You to all who sponsor, all who participate, and all who work to insure our success - we couldn t do what we do without YOU!!! The ANWARC Awards Banquet will be held on Sunday, January 15th, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at the Farmington Senior Center, 340 W. Main St., Farmington, AR 72730 (this is Hwy. 62). From I-49, take Exit #62 in Fayetteville (Hwy 62) and go west, through Farmington. The Senior Center will be on the right, across the street from the Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market. This is NOT a full potluck meal, but finger foods and desserts only. Please bring a food item to share with everyone. ANWARC will supply drinks and paper plates, etc. In addition to the awards, we will elect officers for 2017 and vote on rule changes for the upcoming show season. Officer Nominations thus far are: President - Phillip Curlee Vice President Sarah Markley Secretary Shirley Shelby Treasurer - Cindy Pharr Additional nominations for officers can be taken the day of the banquet. Some of you may need to renew your club membership the day of the banquet in order to be allowed to vote. We will have the various club membership applications available if you need to renew. 2017 Member Clubs are ARAB, Friends of ANWARC, Northwest Arkansas Gaited Horse Club, and the U of A Block & Bridle Club. PLEASE NOTE - THE BANQUET IS FOR ALL ANWARC MEMBERS, NOT JUST OUR WINNERS! PLAN TO ATTEND AND HELP CELEBRATE OUR WINNERS! If you normally sponsor a class at our ANWARC shows (still only $25.00 for the entire season!), please consider giving me a check for your sponsorship the day of the banquet. It will save me time later, contacting you, and it will give me a quicker start on our 2017 showbill. I could have the showbill ready to distribute by February if I had all the sponsors that soon! I hope to see everyone at the banquet as we honor our winners! Cindy Pharr ANWARC Treasurer http://anwarcclub.tripod.com 5

2017 ANWARC BALLOT JANUARY 15, 2017 OPEN DIVISION CLUB YOU MUST BE A CURRENT MEMBER OF A CURRENT MEMBER CLUB TO VOTE! DUES CAN BE PAID THE DAY OF THE BANQUET FOR VOTING PRIVILEGES. Member Clubs include ARAB, Friends of ANWARC, NWA Gaited Club, and University of Arkansas Block & Bridle Club. ***An individual voting member has one vote, provided that individual is an adult; OR a juvenile 14 years old or older with no parent holding a membership. A juvenile 13 years old or younger with no parents holding a membership may receive one vote by having a parent vote for them. Family memberships have a maximum of two votes, regardless of separate club youth memberships within the family. (A parent and a child each holding a membership would have a maximum of two votes.) Our nominations for officers for 2017 are as follows: PRESIDENT: Phillip Curlee SECRETARY: Shirley Shelby VICE PRES.: Sarah Markley TREASURER: Cindy Pharr Officers can NOT be voted on by mail-in ballot, as nominations can be made at the banquet. There are two ballots, one for each division. Members must vote on issues within the division they are involved in. TO BE VOTED ON BY THE OPEN DIVISION: 1. Replace Class #25 Novice Horse English Pleasure WT with Open English Pleasure WTC (canter class). YES NO 2. Replace Class #43 Novice Horse Western Pleasure WT with Open Western Pleasure WTC (canter class). YES NO (Please note that the Novice Horse classes, added this past year, were almost impossible to police, since the points go to the riders in most classes, with no record kept of what horse they were riding. We had no way of verifying on a lot of the horses if they were no longer novice.) 3. Replace Class #19 Juvenile English Pleasure 10 & Under WT with Advanced English Equitation. YES NO (Advanced English Equitation, a rail work class with a canter in which the riders switch horses the second half of the class, has been offered the past couple of years as a Buy-A-Class, with very good participation.) 4. Replace Class #37 Juvenile Western Pleasure 10 & Under WT with Open Ranch Horse Pleasure. YES NO (This class will be rail work only, open to all breeds, points to rider. Regulation tack and clothing rules for Ranch pleasure will apply. Cross entering between Western Pleasure and Ranch Pleasure will be allowed.) 5. Add the following class specification to the rule book: Open Walk Trot Exhibitors cannot canter in any class within the same discipline at that show. Open to any age exhibitor. YES NO (Currently the rider can t enter ANY canter classes at the same show.) 6. Change class specifications for Greener Than Grass to limit GTG to the current show season. YES NO (Currently a GTG exhibitor can show for two seasons, unless they win year end Grand Champion the first year. Again, this is a policing problem, keeping up with how long an exhibitor has shown in a particular discipline.) ***MEMBER SIGNATURE REQUIRED FOR ABSENTEE BALLOT ONLY (SEE BELOW) A MEMBER MAY VOTE BY ABSENTEE BALLOT, PROVIDED THE VOTE IS SIGNED AND SENT TO THE ANWARC SECRETARY IN ADVANCE OF THE MEETING. (THIS IS NOT THE SAME AS A PROXY VOTE - GIVING THE AUTHORITY FOR YOUR VOTE TO SOMEONE ELSE! THERE IS NO PROVISION FOR PROXY VOTING IN ANWARC!) YOU MAY MAIL YOUR ABSENTEE BALLOT TO THE ANWARC SECRETARY, SHIRLEY SHELBY, AT 1701 RUSSELL DR., SPRINGDALE, AR 72762 OR E-MAIL TO CINDY PHARR at pharrsha@pgtc.com. MAIL-IN BALLOTS MUST BE RECEIVED BEFORE THE BANQUET TO BE COUNTED. TWO BALLOTS WILL BE REQUIRED FOR A FAMILY VOTE. FOR THOSE VOTING AT THE BANQUET, YOU WILL BE HANDED A BALLOT AFTER VERIFICATION OF YOUR MEMBERSHIP BEING CURRENT. THERE WILL BE NO BALLOTS ACCEPTED THAT ARE HAND CARRIED TO THE BANQUET. MEMBERSHIP APPLICATIONS WILL BE AVAILABLE AT THE BANQUET TO JOIN OR RENEW. 6
