Western Pleasure Rules 2012 Current Coggins & Rabies Certificate Required within 1 yr. 1 Riders & Handlers to be properly attired for all classes. Western hat or Hard hat, collared long sleeve shirt, and riding boot. 2 Riders 18 & under must wear protective head gear while mounted.. Those not in compliance may be excused at the Show Committees discretion. 3 All entries must be in writing and signed by the exhibitor. A parent or guardian must sign the entry form if exhibitor is under 18. Signature shall constitute acceptance of all rules and regulations.. 4 Class entries & scratches will only be allowed 1 class prior to class being entered or scratched. 5 Use of chaps Equitation Classes at Judges discretion.. 6 No hackamores,gagbits, & Martingales. No Tiedowns except for Speed Classes. Riding with 2 hands in a shanked bit will be penalized. 7 No Horse Boots except for Speed & Lunge line classes. 8 Class Points. 1-10 entries:1st.=6pts,2nd.=5pts,3rd.=4pts, 4th.=3pts,5th.=2pts,6th=1pt 11 + entries: 1st.=8pts,2nd.=7pts,3rd=6pts,4th=5pts,5th=4pts,6th=3pts 9 Entry Fees: Member: PreEntry $ 10.00per class day of show $12.00per class Non Member: PreEntry $ 12.00per class day of show $14.00per class 10 Division points tie breaker: Points accumulated in the Western Equitation classes entered by rider & horse that day or at the Judges discretion. Year-End High Point rider & horse tie breaker: Points accumulated in the Western Equitation classes entered by horse & rider at the September show. 11 You must be an SDHPA member at time of show for points to qualify for year-end awards. Points are accumulated on horse & rider combination. Go to www.sdhpa.com 12 You must enter 4 out of 5 classes, 3 out of 4 classes, 2 out of 3 classes to qualify for division winner the day of the show. Note: Leadline riders must enter both classes to qualify for division winner.. 13 Please notify the Judges Booth well in advance of upcoming tack changes. When possible, please make all tack changes at the ring. 14 There will be a 2 minute call for all classes. When a class is being pinned, the next class is to enter the ring & stand at the rail. 15 The Western Pleasure Committee reserves the right to cancel,combine or divide any class if in it s opinion the entries so warrant. 16 SDHPA and the Western Pleasure Committee will not be responsible for any accident which may occur to or be caused by any person or animal at the show. 17 The owner and or Lessee of the SDHPA Arena will in no way be responsible for any accident which may occur to or be caused by any person or animal on the SDHPA Grounds. 18 All riding outside the ring shall be done with proper and safe tack and no faster than a walk, other than in the warm up area.(outside Course) 19 For Spectators Safety all spectators are asked not to stand at the gate areas. Please be aware of your children at all times while on the grounds. 20 No Dogs or Pets allowed on the grounds unless they are leashed. 21 No Alcoholic Beverages allowed on the premises. HORSEBACK RIDING RELEASE I, the undersigned, acknowledge that there is an inherent risk in equine activities, that there are dangers and risks which are an integral part of equine activities including but not limited to: The propensity of equines to behave in ways that may result in injury, harm or death to persons on or around them. The unpredictability of an equine s reaction to such things as unfamiliar sounds, objects, persons, animals or sudden movement. Hazards, such as surface and subsurface conditions, and collisions with other equines or objects.
