YORK SPORT 5ASIDE FOOTBALL LEAGUE The York Sport Football League has been set up to provide friendly, competitive playing opportunities for those who love football. Played outdoors at York Sport Village on 3G 5aside Pens, the league is open to adults of all ages and standards. Teams will play each week between 6.30pm-9.30pm. Each game will be 25 and played in two 14 minutes halves. You can register a team online now by clicking on this link. As soon as we receive a completed team entry form, we will be in contact with you with further details. In order to secure your place on the league we will require your online application and final weeks sub fee before the deadline of 12 pm Friday 1 st October. There are only 12 places on the league (12); we are therefore encouraging teams to sign up as soon as possible. Fixtures and a link to the live league status will be sent to all paid members before Friday 1 st October. The league positions will be updated on a weekly basis and results will be made available to all members via: Online league table at York Sport website. There is no registration fee to the league, although each team will pay a set weekly fee of 25. A 25 payment will be required upfront and paid at York Sport Centre or Village; this payment will cover your final week s fixture charge. Match fees are to be paid at YSC reception prior to your game; you will be required to collect your receipt and hand it to the umpire before the match commences. Changing rooms and toilets are available on site including free parking. Football League Rules and Regulations RULES When registering your team you can list a squad of up to 10 players. Only registered squad players can play in your team throughout the season. To add or remove players from your squad you must email York Sport on sports-developemnt@york.ac.uk. A maximum of 5 players and a minimum of 4 players must be on pitch for the match to be played. All players must be 18 years of age or over. Each team may field four outfield players and a goalkeeper on the pitch at any one time.

Games will be 30 minutes long played in 2 halves (14 mins); there will be 1 minute at half time to switch ends. Substitutions can be made at any time but the referee must be made aware of the change. You are only permitted three substitutes per game. Outgoing substitutes must leave the field of play before the replacement enters the playing area. The oncoming players are active immediately and can receive the ball. Substitutes must stand outside the pitch perimeter and spectators must not enter the field of play under any circumstances. Borrowing players is allowed as long as the opposition agree. You must only borrow players when you are short to make up your basic team of 5. KIT Players must not wear or use equipment that is dangerous to yourself or other players. No screw in studded footwear or blades is permitted to be worn by any player. Only training shoes, moulded soles and astro boots may be worn. All Players must wear shin pads. The wearing of any form of jewellery (including, without limitation, watches) is not permitted during play. Bibs and balls will be provided. REFEREE Each match is controlled by one qualified referee who has full authority to enforce the rules of the game. Their decision is final. The referee will ask each team at the end of the match to nominate 1 player from their opposition for player of the match. At the end of the season the player with the most Player of the Match nominations will be awarded with a Player of The Season award at the end of the league season. TURNING UP LATE AND FAILURE TO SHOW Teams are responsible for checking the fixtures online and their game times on a weekly basis. All teams must arrive at the venue at least 10 minutes before your match starts. Late players can only enter the field at the referee s discretion. Matches must start on time. This means all warming up, putting bibs on etc. should be done prior to your start time. If you re team turns up late you will start 1 goal down for every 2 minutes you delay the match start time. The referee has the final say on this and will make it clear when time has started. If you miss a half you will start the second half 2 goals down. You will also be responsible for paying the other teams match subs. Injury time is not permitted due to facility space and time. An injured player must be substituted. If there is no sub, the team must play without that player on the pitch. In the event of a serious injury in which the player cannot vacate the pitch, the referee will submit a report to York Sport who will decide whether the remaining time will be played at a later date or not. York Sports decision is final. If more than half the game has been played the result will likely stand. If it has not then the whole/part match may be replayed depending on circumstances.

If your team fails to turn up to a scheduled fixture without giving York Sport 5 days notice, you will lose the game by default 4-0 and will be charged the full match fee for the missed game ( 50). Teams who wish to withdraw from the league need to give two weeks notice of their intent to withdraw and are required to pay and play for the two matches prior to withdrawal, (These procedures have been enforced to prevent teams letting down their opposition). DISCIPLINARY ACTION Each game is controlled by one referee. The referee will deal with all infringements and misconduct Serious misconduct during a match will result in the individual asked to leave the pitch for the remainder of the match. In the event of serious misconduct from more than two players in a team, the match will be abandoned and awarded as a 4-0 victory to the opposition. York Sport reserves the right to ban or expel any player or team from the league. There is no opportunity to appeal. If you disagree with the referee s decision you cannot confront during game play. The captain can raise their concerns to the referee at the end of the game. However all games should be played in the spirit of fair play. SCORING SYSTEM WIN = 3 points DRAW = 1 points LOSE = 0 points Goal difference will be recorded and used to dictate league positions if teams are on equal points. The bottom two teams in each division will be relegated. This will apply when a second tier is introduced in a following season. York Sport leagues operate on a rolling basis running for 48 weeks of the year. Teams will not be automatically entered into a new league season unless they reregister to the league. At the end of each season, the top finishing team of each division are awarded with a winner s trophy and prize. This trophy must be returned to York Sport. Players who have accumulated the most Man of the Match awards will also receive a trophy for their achievements. GAME PLAY RULES

York Sport leagues are designed to be simple, straight forward way to play in friendly competitive sport. The rules we adhere to are lifted from the FA playing rules and regulations. PLAYING TIME: A game consists of 2 x 14 minute halves with an interval of 1 minute half time period. REFEREE: One referee has control of the game and his/her decisions are final. When rules of the game are broken the penalties awarded by the referee are free kick, penalty or throw up. KICK OFF The captains from both teams will join the referee for a coin toss to dictate who gets kick off. The game will commence with one team taking a centre kick; the second half will begin with the other team taking the centre. After a goal has been scored the game will be re-started by the team who conceded the goal taking a centre. The pitch is an enclosed area so the ball will never leave the field of play unless it is hit over the fence. In this event the opposing team will start the game with a kick in from the side of the pitch where the ball left the field of play. The cage sides can be used as rebounders. GOALKEEPERS Each team should field one Goalkeeper. Only the Goalkeeper is allowed to handle the ball and entre the defensive goal area. An outfield player gaining or seeking to gain an advantage by entering his own goal area will have a penalty kick awarded against his team. An outfield player entering his opponent s penalty area will be penalized. The game will be re-started from the goalkeeper from where the infringement took place. A goalkeeper can leave his area and but cannot handle the ball outside the area. Goalkeeper must return the ball into play by rolling it out of his area with an under-arm bowling action. If the ball is returned any other way a free-kick will be given to the opposition two meters outside the area. A teammate receiving the ball from the Goalkeeper may not return the ball directly to him; the ball must first be touched by another teammate or an opponent. A free kick will be awarded against the offending team from the place where the defending player returned the ball unless it is deemed by the Referee that a player returning the ball to the Goal-Keeper is gaining an advantage then a penalty will be awarded. INFRINGEMENTS The ball must not be played above head height. An indirect free kick will be awarded against the last player to touch the ball before it goes above this height, regardless of intent. No slide tackles are allowed. Infringement of this rule will lead to a free kick being awarded against the offending players team. Professional fouls will be penalized with a penalty / free kick and the guilty player may face disciplinary action. All free kicks will be direct with the exception of the head height rule which is deemed in-direct.

Opposition players must be at least two meters from where any free-kick is taken. If opposing players do not retreat the required two meters the kick may be moved forward one meter. If a free kick is awarded on or near the goal area it can be moved up to two meters backwards to allow defenders to be two meters from the ball. The Goal keeper must be on the goal line when a penalty is being taken. If the goal keeper moves before the penalty is taken and saves the opposing team will get the opportunity to retake. Players may only take one step whilst taking a penalty. SCORING A goal can be scored from any point within the field of play expect from inside the goal area.
