Let the castles and fortresses float by! The Rhine bike trail passes well-known and worthwhile places such as St.Goar, Rüdesheim, Eltville and the historical Mainz. Passing the town of the Nibelung Saga Worms you sail to the Neckar mouth. By bike you explore the Celtic town of Ladenburg and the world-famous Heidelberg. Marvel at the Old-town which is well worth seeing and visit the magnificent castle. The romantic atmosphere of the Neckar will be experienced next! Take your time to enjoy Neckarsteinach as well as the small town of Hirschhorn with its former Karmelit monastery. Loaf around the angular lanes of Eberbach and bike to Hornberg castle.this trip is also offered in the opposite direction from Bad Wimpfen to Koblenz.
MS Patria The MS Patria offers capacities for 68 guests in 15 air-conditioned cabins (it's not possible to open the windows) on the lower deck and 19 cabins on the upper deck (here you can open the window, no air condition). All cabins are equipped with two single beds, shower and toilet. A cozy atmosphere and a friendly crew await you in the saloon and bar. You also have a partially covered sundeck where you can spend your time after the bike tours. The crew is an experienced team, supplying a familiar atmosphere on board. 1. day Koblenz arrival Individual arrival at Koblenz. Embarkment starts at 4 p.m.. The crew welcomes you on bord.experiencing the Old-town on your own is very recomendable. Have a walk to the "Deutsches Eck" where Moselle and Rhine meet. It's only a few minutes away from the ship. Walk alog the Rhine promenade or through the old city centre. 2. day Koblenz Rüdesheim 46 km In the morning you cycle comfortably with the first ship up the Rhine to Boppard. Look
forward to your bike tour through the most beautiful part of the Middle Rhine Valley. On both sides of the river, a large number of castles (UNESCO World Heritage) can be seen. You cycle past castles and palaces on the flat Rhine bike trail through the valley of the Loreley till you reach the beautiful town of Rudesheim, which features the world-famous Drosselgasse (throttle alley). Overnight in Rudesheim or Bingen. 3. day Rüdesheim - Mainz 32-35 km Today you cycle along the banks of the Rhine from Rudesheim through the Rheingau and Eltville to Mainz. Look forward to the state capital of Rhineland-Palatinate, as in Mainz there is much to discover. Marvel at the many churches, museums, fountains and monuments. The main attractions include the cathedral, the Electoral Palace, the State Theatre, the Citadel, the Fastnachtsbrunnen and the Gutenberg monument. Enjoy the late afternoon during a stroll through Mainz, where you can visit perhaps one of the many interesting museums. 4. day Mainz - Nierstein 17-26 km Some time you will stay right by the side of the Rhine, then you will see the mighty river from the distance. Via Laubenheim you go to Nierstein, the biggest wine growing community on the Rhine. You will have lunch on board the Patria and in the afternoon you'll have an excursion into the vineyards with a tractor. The day ends with a good wine and a rustic meal at a winegrower. 5. day Nierstein - Heidelberg 25 km Comfortable you start the day with a boat trip up the Rhine past the town of the Nibelung Saga Worms to the starting point of your bike tour to Mannheim. On flat roads you cycle on the idyllic Neckar Cycle Path to the Celtic town of Ladenburg, with its beautiful halftimbered houses. Stroll through the quaint downtown, enjoy the Mediterranean atmosphere of the small village and treat yourself with a break in one of the many nice cafes. Then follow the Neckar Cycle Path to the famous city of Heidelberg. Be enchanted by the majestic Castle towering on the mountain which is worth a visit or take part in an interesting city tour. 6. day Heidelberg - Eberbach 34 km Leaving Heidelberg, your nect destination will be Neckargemünd. On your way you will also pass Ziegelhausen. The route we have chosen leads through the southern Odenwald to Neckarsteinach. You can now look forward to the next stage, the small town Hirschhorn and its castle; the town is considered the treasure of the Neckar valley. The most worthwhile sights are Hirschhorn castle, the ancient Karmelit monastery and the market church. Finally, you will bike to Eberbach, today s final destination. Enjoy a walk around the narrow streets and the small places supplying a lively atmonsphere. 7. day Eberbach - Bad Wimpfen 45 km Ready, steady, go! After breakfast you will bike to Neckarzimmern via Ziegelhausen. A short trip to Hornberg castle will be very interesting. Hornberg castle is one of the most beautiful castles in the Neckar valley. It used to be the domicile for the bishops of Speyer after 1259 and came into possession of Götz von Berlichingen in the 16th century. The last stage along the Neckar leads you to the very athmospheric, medieval looking small town of Bad Wimpfen.
8. day Bad Wimpfen departure After breakfast it will be time to say goodbye to the river and to the MS Patria. Condition of cycle paths Most of the time you cycle on car-free roads, low-traffic agricultural roads and paved bike paths along the dyke without significant gradients.
