RULES OF INTERNATIONAL POLISH CHAMPIONSHIPS IN TRADITIONAL ARCHERY GOLUB-DOBRZYN, 4th and 6 th AUGUST 2017. I PURPOSE The main purpose of the International Polish Championships in Traditional Archery, held on 4 th and 6 th August 2017 in Golub-Dobrzyn Castle, is to promote the art of using the bow and arrow, archery history and traditions. Therefore, the participants especially those who are going to take part in the archers parade and shoot in the natural bows and traditional bows categories, are asked to wear re-enactment clothing authentic to the period they represent. II NOTIFICATIONS Archers who wish to take part in the competition should fill-out the registration form and email it at http://www.zawodysportowe.info/pslt/ by 16 th July 2017. For technical reasons the maximum number of participating archers will be limited to 288 (two hundred eighty eight). The entry fees, payable by July 16 th, 2017 are as follows: 100 PLN - for PSŁT members, 150 PLN for non-psłt members, 50 PLN for non-shooters who want to take a part only in the feast. The entry fees are payable to the PSŁT account: (Bank Pekao SA) account no.: 35124034191111001041776705. In the transfer title please put your name and surname. The organizer shall not be obliged to consider any applications submitted after the deadline. In addition to participation in the tournament participants are provided: - participation in Friday's march through the streets of Golubia-Dobrzyn city together with the orchestra, - the opening ceremony and launch a burning fire-arrows, - sausage with bread for a fire-place, on Friday evening - Saturday's concert of "Stary Olsa" folk band, - feast with wild hogs stuffed with grits, pork-meat and beer or bread acid, - Soup on Saturday and Sunday, - on Sunday horse archery show of AMM Archery The list of contestants will be available at http://www.zawodysportowe.info/pslt/ (where blue colour means completed registration). In case a registered participant is unable to take part in the event, they are kindly requested to inform the organizer at the earliest. III PARTICIPATION These Regulations are designed to ensure the safety of all archers (hereinafter referred to as Contestants) and other participants taking part in the tournament. All participants and organizers participating in the competition are obliged to observe the provisions of these rules. The organizers and Judges (supervising persons) are exempt from any liability for any harm caused by improper behaviour on the premises of the competition, in particular when it results from breeching

of any of the provisions of the Regulations and the basic rules of safety and common sense and instructions of the referees. In the case of violation of the Rules by an archer or any other person, each of the participants is obliged to stop immediately the shootings and to reprimand and to ask for changing behaviour. During the tournament, it is strictly forbidden to: - shoot a bow by persons under the influence of alcohol or other intoxicants, - use any equipment whose use is not safe due to its condition, - shoot without a signal from the judges or without making sure that shooting is safe, - draw the bow with an arrow knocked onto the string in any other direction but the location of targets. Intentional shooting in other directions shall result in immediate disqualification, expulsion and exclusion from the competition. Persons who do not have the legal capacity (including minors) to stay in the competition area and / or participate in the tournament are represented by their legal representatives. IV CATEGORIES 1. Age divisions Participants will be divided by age into two categories: JUNIOR children and teenagers up to the age of 14, born after 5 th August 2003, without sex division (JUNIOR). SENIOR competitors over the age of 14, born before 5 th August 2003, with division according to sex, i.e. SENIOR MEN and women SENIOR WOMEN. 2. Equipment categories Before the first shooting round, i.e. until 9:00am on 5 th August 2017, contestants are required to report to the Competition Office to verify their equipment and confirm their entry, and they will be divided into groups. Referees are required to inspect and verify the equipment of all competitors participating in the competition. Competitors are not allowed to lend or to borrow any bow, arrows and accessory, neither in the course of an inspection nor during a competition. 2.1. BOWS Bows which are allowed in the competition include traditional bows, i.e. longbow, flatbow, one-piece hunter recurve, take-down hunter recurve, historical bow and primitive. Compound bows and takedown Olympic style bows are not allowed. Bow categories:

LN - Natural bows: one-piece homogeneous and composite bows made entirely of natural materials, shaped into familiar historical pieces / designs (synthetic strings are allowed), wooden arrows with nocks and fletchings made of natural materials (paper, feather, parchment, etc.). Bows can t have a sight window or an arrow rest in any form (brush, antler, leather, etc.). CAUTION: Due to the historical shape of riser, exceptions are replicas of Korean bows. Pic. 1. LT- Traditional bows: one-piece homogeneous and composite bows made of any material (laminate), shaped into familiar historical pieces / designs, with profiled riser but without pistol type grip wooden arrows with fletching made of natural materials (paper, feather, parchment, etc.), nocks made of any material. Bows can t have a sight window or an arrow rest in any form (brush, antler, peels, etc.), no wrapping into the string, only a saddle for arrow is allowed. Pic. 2. LT basing on IFAA

LP -bows with shelves: one-piece homogeneous or composite bows, with arrow shelf no closing to bow axis or without shelf but with arrow rest, wooden arrows with fletching made of natural materials (paper, feather, parchment, etc.), nocks made of any material, string made of any material. Bows can have an arrow rest in any form (brush, antler, leather, etc.), no wrapping into the string, only a saddle for arrow and string silencers (in minimum distance of 305 mm from arrow saddle) are allowed. LH- bows with shelves, hunter type: one-piece or take-down homogeneous or composite bows,, with sight window and/or shelf, with pistol type grip, arrows of any type. Bows can have a simple, noadjustable arrow rest in any form (plastic, metal, brush, antler, leather, etc.). no wrapping into the string, only a saddle for arrow and string silencers (in minimum distance of 305 mm from arrow saddle) are allowed. Pic. 4. LH basing on IFAA An arrow rest is considered to be any retaining prop placed on the riser which holds (prevents the falling of) the arrow when a bow is freely held in vertical position.

2.2. ARROWS Every competitor should have a minimum of 10 arrows with field points. Other types of arrow points, especially broadheads, are forbidden. The arrows of an individual competitor should be clearly identifiable, for example signed with their name and surname or initials. Note: The organizers may allow the use non-conforming arrows provided that the result of the competitor using such arrows will not be included in the final classification. A competitor who has improper arrows is obliged to report this fact to the judges during equipment inspection. Failure to report improper arrows to the judges will result in disqualification of the contestant. 3. EQUIPMENT AND SHOOTING RULES It is forbidden to use: - any sighting device attached to the bow - any marks which could facilitate aiming, - wraps intertwined into the string (the center serving on the string will be served with one layer of any material suitable to use, but material will be of one consistent size and one consistent colour), - the use of a rangefinder or any measuring applications on mobile phones; the captain of each group is responsible for assuring compliance with this regulation. Any non-compliance with this regulation might result in disqualification. The only allowed marks are the nocking point (i.e. the point where the arrow is nocked onto the string) and a strike plate, i.e. the mark where the arrow contacts the riser of the bow (subject to the requirements of section 2.1.). With regard to shooting technique, the competitors shoot any technique which requires touching with a finger/s the arrow shaft/nocking point at the moment of drawing and releasing. III. SHOOTING 1. Warm-up The Organizers will provide the contestants with a secure training site to be used as a test shooting range and warming-up area. 2. Competition The competitions will be divided into three thematic rounds: 1 / 3D hunting, 2 / skills (long distances and moving targets) 3 / target shooting The rounds are held in two days. In order to be classified, each competitor is obliged to shoot two full rounds on the first day of the competition. During the competition, the targets will be set at unmarked distances from the shooting position marked with a coloured stake or line. Every competitor must be touching the marked shooting point with any part of their body when drawing and shooting.

Note: The search for lost arrows is possible after the shooting at the command of the captain of the group, and only if there is no risk of being exposed to the shots from another group. As a safety precaution, and to insure a timely completion of the competition, no archer will go behind any target to look for a lost arrow unless they can see it at the time of scoring. Always keep at least (2) two archers in front of the target to ensure that no other group will shoot at the given target while you are retrieving arrows. If you cannot see the arrow clearly, mark the spot where the arrow may be and it will be possible to return to this place after the completion of the round. 3. Scoring and evaluation of hits The competition includes three thematic rounds, each consisting of targets with different scoring: A/ three hit zones scoring 10, 8 and 5 points respectively. B/ one hit zone scoring 5 points. Competitors shoot 3 or 6 arrows to the target. The maximum score to gain on each target is 30 points. If the arrow breaks a line between scoring zones, the competitor will receive the higher score. Arrows that enter the 3D target close to the hairline and do not remain embedded in the target are not scored and the competitor is not allowed to repeat such a shot. The exception is an arrow which bounced off of the target and fell in front of it; in such a case the competitor will receive the lowest score possible on the given target. To ensure good refereeing and to lead the groups of competitors, the organizers will choose group captains from the most experienced archers who will be responsible for making sure that the regulations are followed and their decisions will be binding. In case of disagreement, the questionable issues will be reported to the main judge. The main judge s decisions are final and not subject to further discussion. It is forbidden to shoot additional arrows in a situation where after approaching the target a competitor turns out to have shot fewer arrows than required in the competition. A competitor who shoots more arrows than required at a given target shall lose the points gained with the highest scoring arrow on this target. If a competitor skips or leaves the queue shooting, then there is no possibility of shoot it again and the result on abandoned target of the competition must be 0 points. No physical measurement of distance at the targets is allowed, it is forbidden to approach the target before shooting. No arrows in a target may be touched until all the arrows have been scored. If scoring is disputable, the dispute should be settled by the captain of the group, and until then all the arrows may not be pulled out of the target. Arrows taken from the target before the score is saved will be counted as zero. In case of a mistake in entering points in the card, the amendment must be applied immediately and the captain of the group must sign the corrections confirmed also by the owner of the card. The contestant, after recording the result, is obliged to ensure that his arrow is taken out of the target before leaving the position / target. 4. RANKING The scoring of the target round is combined with the scoring of the 3D hunting round and the skills round, and the sum of points obtained from all three rounds determines the place of an archer in the Ranking of the Competition.

Contestants will get official cards to record the results at the beginning of the tournament. All information on the scorecard must be accurate and legible. Points are entered and counted by the captain/judge of the group. The cards are to be signed by at least two persons in the group. The judge will check the compliance of the results on the metrics only at random in arithmetic terms; cards with arithmetic errors will be not included in the final classification. Ties will be settled in favour of the archer who hits more 10 points on targets. In case of a tie between competitors who are fighting for the podium, the competitors will give 3 shots at the target from 20-25 meters. The archer who scores more points wins. In case of both archers score identical number of points scored equally, the tie break will continue until the first advantage. Scoring zones are as in the regular rounds. No additional points will be awarded in the classification for tie matches. They only have effect no the ranking of competitors. Archers with non-compliant equipment are excluded from the final ranking, without the possibility of obtaining a title/a prize. V. GENERAL PROVISIONS ALCOHOL AND DRUGS From the time of the opening of the competition, until the time of its official closing ceremony, no participant under the influence of alcohol or any other intoxicant is permitted, under the pain of immediate disqualification, on the premises of the competition. Participants are also asked to refrain from smoking tobacco. PENALTIES Should a competitor fail to observe the regulations concerning the equipment discovered prior to the beginning of the competition, a judge may use the following disciplinary measures: - a request to bring the equipment into compliance with the regulations - a change of the category in which the competitor is registered - exclusion from the final ranking - disqualification Gross failures to follow the regulations discovered during the competition may result in the competitor s disqualification. Littering on the tournament area is strictly forbidden. VI. PRIZES AND TITLES 1 st place: gold medal + diploma 2 nd place: silver medal + diploma 3 rd place: bronze medal + diploma 4 th 6 th place: diploma The organizers' decisions include the possibility of awarding non-cash prizes for the first three places and consolation prizes for the 4 th place. The right to interpret regulations is the responsibility of the representatives of Polish Traditional Archery Association and the main judge.
