Home For The Holidays Coming off a four-game road trip and the holiday break, the Albany Devils return to Times Union Center Saturday for a 5 pm outing against the Providence Bruins. The Devils have the second-best home points percentage in the AHL at.808. The team, which is 10-2-1-0 at the TUC, is second only to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (.833, 12-2-0-1). Ready To Rebound Albany s franchise record eight-game winning streak came to an end in a 4-0 setback at Wilkes- Barre/Scranton on Dec. 12. The road setback was the first of four straight for Albany, which lost games at St. John s, 3-2, Tuesday and, 5-1, Wednesday. Most recently, the Devils lost at Rochester, 4-1, Saturday. Where They Stand The Devils remain in second place in the North Division and third in the Eastern Conference at 16-8-3-0 (.648). A Third Of The Way Done With the season more than a third of the way completed, the Devils have the second best record in franchise history after 27 games. Their 16-8-3-0 mark is just behind the 2013-14 team s 17-7-2-1 showing. Blandisi earned his first NHL recall on Dec. 10 and made his NHL debut on Dec. 11 against Detroit. O Neill, who New Jersey acquired on Oct. 6 from Los Angeles in exchange for a conditional seventh-round selection in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, has appeared 22 NHL games this season, producing two points. 1

News & Notes Last Week Recap Tuesday: Devils 2, IceCaps 3 The Devils made a push late, but eventually succumbed to the final horn, falling to the IceCaps, 3-2, at MileOne Centre. Rod Pelley and Corey Tropp both scored for Albany and Yann Danis made 28 saves. St. John s netminder Zachary Fucale stopped 44 shots. St. John s prevailed, 5-1, Wednesday at MileOnce Centre to sweep the back-to-back series. Blake Pietila spoiled St. John s netminder Eddie Pasquale s shutout with an unassisted tally during the second period. Pasquale finished the game with 44 stops. Brandon Burlon scored for Albany and Scott Wedgewood turned aside all 12 shots he faced in a 40-minute relief effort. Rochester s goals came from Tim Schaller, Patrick Kaleta, Nick Baptiste and Colby Robak. Netminder Andrey Makarov earned his sixth victory, making 30 saves. Patrick Kaleta (RCH) Stellar Defense Albany s defense ranks third in the AHL with a 2.15 goals-against average, allowing just 58 goals in 27 games. Also, the team ranks first with a 24.44 shots-against average. This season, the Devils are 14-0-1-0 when allowing two or fewer goals. Strong Starts The Devils have outscored their opponents, 25-8, and their +7 goal differential is the fourth highest for first period scoring in the league. Albany is 14-1-2-0 when scoring first and 11-2-0-0 when leading after the opening frame. License To Kill The Devils have the best penalty kill unit in the league, killing off 89.5 percent. The team has been shorthanded 114 times and has surrendered just 12 goals. At home, Albany PK is operating at 92.3 percentage, allowing four goals in 52 attempts. Power Performance Thanks to a league-leading 28 man-up goals, the Devils are second in the AHL with a 23.1 power-play percentage. Additionally, Albany s power-play unit has been dominat on home ice, with 18 goals on 59 advantages (30.5 percent). Mike Sislo leads the league with nine manadvantage tallies and is tied for second with 14 power-play points. Matt Lorito ranks second with 12 power-play assists. Thompson s Home Cooking Paul Thompson is riding a six-game home point streak into this weekend s game. During that span, he has registered eight points with five goals and three assists. Thompson, a 2015 AHL All-Star, is tied for seventh on the team with 12 points. He has six goals and six assists in 18 contests. On Top Of His Game In his fifth full season, Mike Sislo is having a career year. He leads the Devils with 22 points and 13 goals. He is averaging 0.81 points-per-game and is on pace to register a career-high 61 points. Entering the season, his best statistical year had been the 2013-14 campaign when he registered 41 points (23g-18a) in 59 contests. In 274 career AHL games, Sislo has 156 points with 78 goals and 78 helpers. He ranks second alltime in franchise history for points, second for goals and fifth for assists. Additionally, he is the record holder with 28 career power-play goals. O Neill Adds To Devils Depth Albany added a top-six forward when New Jersey loaned Brian O Neill last week. The 27-year-old has logged 193 career AHL games, producing 144 points with 52 goals and 92 assists. Last year, he was named the league s MVP after registering a league-leading 80 points with 22 goals and 58 helpers. He helped Manchester to the 2015 Calder Cup title. Danis Steady For Devils Yann Danis ranks near the top of the league for several different categories. He is first for minutes (1340:51), tied for first for shutouts (4), third for wins (14), fourth for goals-against average (2.01), fifth for saves (509) and tied for 13th for save percentage (.919). Welcome Back Wedgewood On Dec. 11, Scott Wedgewood returned to the lineup after being sidelined with an ankle injury suffered during training camp. During his first game a 3-1 win against Syracuse he made 17 saves. For the season, Wedgewood is 1-1-0 with a 2.21 goals-against average and a.889 save percentage. The Quarterback Marc-Andre Gragnani has been the quarterback of the Devils power play and 10 of his 13 assists this season have come with the manadvantage. During his AHL career, Gragnani is averaging 0.71 points per game, posting 247 points in 346 games. The veteran blueliner won the Eddie Shore Award for top AHL Defenseman during the 2010-11 season, registering 60 points (12g-48a) with the Portland Pirates. He led the league in assists and points by a defenseman. He spent the previous two seasons in Europe, helping HC Lev Praha to the finals of the Gagarin Cup in 2014 and SC Bern to the Swiss Cup Championship in 2015. 2

Lorito Picks Up Where He Left Off Coming off 12 points (3g-9a) in 11 AHL games last season as an ATO, Matt Lorito has nearly maintained that pace this year. He is second on the team with 21 points (4g-17a) in 25 outings. He is tied for ninth for assists and second for power-play points (14). Additionally, he ranks sixth among rookies for points, second for assists and second for powerplay points. Finding His Spot Joseph Blandisi is first in the AHL with a 30.4 shooting percentage, converting on seven of 23 shots. The 21-year-old is tied for 12th among AHL rookies with 16 points (7g-9a) and second with five power-play goals. Offensive Support Reid Boucher is third on the team with 18 points, registering 10 goals and eight assists in 22 games. Averaging 0.82 points-per-game, he is one of four Devils averaging more than 0.80 points-per-game: Joseph Blandisi (0.84), Matt Lorito (0.84) and Mike Sislo (0.81). Appleby Update Netminder Ken Appleby is 10-5-1 with the Adirondack Thunder (ECHL) He has a 2.37 goals-against average and a.918 save percentage.
