Play the course the PGA Tour Pros play. Eighth Annual Wichita Aero Club GOLF CLASSIC June 11, 2017 Crestview Country Club North Course Still the most reasonably-priced golf event of the year!
EIGHTH ANNUAL GOLF CLASSIC The Wichita Aero Club will host its eighth annual Golf Classic on Sunday, June 11th, launching a week of exciting activities that will culminate in the PGA web.com Air Capital Classic, June 15-18. The WAC event supports our Edward W. Stimpson and H. Dean Humphrey Scholarships and provides players with the opportunity to play on the same pristinely manicured course at Crestview Country Club that the PGA TOUR pros will play during the Air Capital Classic later in the week. For the first time since 2013, the WAC Golf Classic will NOT be played on Fathers Day. We ll tee off a week before the annual celebration of our dads, taking the course promptly at 11 AM with a shotgun start in scramble format. The WAC Golf Classic is always fun and this year it offers several additional opportunities to take home some additional rewards! Players will compete in longest putt, longest drive and closest-to-the-pin contests and also have a chance to win a new car from Davis-Moore with a hole-in-one. We re bringing back last year s popular Scholarship Shootout that provides every golfer with a chance to win a substantial cash prize and add a bonus to the scholarship fund at the same time! The 7th and 17th Holes will be special stops for additional fun with margarita stands for an icy cold drink and a visit with fellow golfers. Following the conclusion of the day s rounds, we ll again enjoy the popular 19th Hole Awards Reception, this year in the large hospitality suite overlooking the final hole.
19 Holes of Fun and Networking The 7th and 17th Holes will be special stops for additional fun with margarita stands for an icy cold drink and a visit with fellow golfers. Following the conclusion of the day s rounds, golfers enjoy the 19th Hole Awards Reception. We will also watch the qualifiers in the scholarship shootout vie for the lucrative cash prize at the 18th hole. It s a chance to win a big prize...and make an equally significant contribution to the WAC scholarships, too.
The Air Capital Classic Supports Charitable Organizations By joining the AIR CAPITAL CLASSIC Ambassadors, the Wichita Aero Club is following the example of the PGA TOUR, which owns the Web.com tour and controls the Air Capital Classic event and all of theweb.com tour stops. The PGA TOUR incorporates a strong charitable component into each of its events. Prominent PGA TOUR tournaments such as the U.S. OPEN, the Masters, and the PGA Championship donate significant funds to local and national charities as part of their annual activities. Now in its 28th year, the Wichita Open/Air Capital Classic has a consistent history of supporting local organizations. New and different charities are added each year. In all, during its years in Wichita, the event has contributed well over $1.5 million to local charities. Many, of course, are golf-related. Almost all relate to youth organizations and activities.
Wichita Aero Club Aviation Related Educational Initiatives The Wichita Aero Club continues to promote aviation education and support aviation-related training and career development by offering scholarships and financial assistance to aviation-related institutions and students. The recipients of our scholarships are future aviation leaders with a local connection. Proceeds from yearly Trophy Gala and Golf Classic events allowed the Club to establish a scholarship fund in 2013. Currently, the Wichita Aero Club and Wichita Community Foundation collaborate on the awarding of two scholarships: the Edward W. Stimpson Scholarship and H. Dean Humphrey Scholarship. Both awards are designed for collegiate or technical school students who have already established an aviation-related major or career path. Both grants originally provided $2,000, but in 2016 we increased the awards to $5,000 each. While the Stimpson scholarship targets students who may wish to pursue engineering, technical, or flight related careers, the Humphrey scholarship is designed to underwrite the educational pursuits of students who are seeking a career in administration, communication or nontechnical disciplines at aviation-related businesses. Both scholarships are designed to benefit students with a connection to Wichita or Kansas; they can be students at local institutions, graduates of local high schools who are attending colleges, universities or technical schools in other locations, employees who are concurrently enrolled in school, family members of employees, or interns of Wichita or Kansas-based aviation companies. The Wichita Aero Club accepts gifts and donations towards its educational initiatives and works with the Wichita Community Foundation, a 501 (c) 3 tax-exempt charitable organization to administer its scholarship program and provide appropriate recognition to donors.
