Electrical continuity Trelleborg hoses are electrically continuous (EC) or electrically discontinuous (ED). Minimum bending radius Floating hose 6 x ID Submarine hose and floating TRH 4 x ID Floatation Foam material Foam material used on hoses is made of closed cell foam. Foam can accept accidental immersion in water depth down to 30 meters without permanent deformation. Collars Collars permit to add and adjust the floatation on the submarine configuration. The number of collars depends on the hose length and flange type. Design & features Single carcass Flange with nipple Flange Nipple binding steel wires Inner liner Helix steel wire Reinforcement Foam material Outer cover Flanges Single and double carcass hoses are built with a nipple flange. The manufacture consists in using binding steel wires fixed on the nipple to block the hose body structure. The operational high resistance is performed with the perfect link and adhesion between hose body structure and flange. Flanges are in accordance with ASME B16.5 Class 150 or Class 300. First off and tanker rail hoses are supplied with lifting pad eyes for ease of handling and installation. Hose body structure Inner liner The inner liner is made of NBR rubber and is linked to the flange to offer a full sealing solution allowing no migration of the product. A special inner liner is proposed for specific fluid on request. Reinforcement The reinforcement is composed of polyester cords. Reinforcement withstands normal pressure rating and protects the hose from excessive loads and stresses. The reinforcement is adjusted according to operational and environmental conditions. Helix steel wire For severe environmental conditions and for a better resistance to tension, high external differential pressures or extreme bending loads, helix steel wire reinforcement is incorporated in the hose body structure. 14

Flange Nipple binding steel wires Double carcass The double carcass structure is composed by reinforcements and a NBR rubber liner directly connected to the flange. The double carcass is designed to capture and retain fluid in case of a leak from the inner single carcass. This prevents pollution and ensures continuous operation with no effect to the environment. Foam material Reinforcement In case of internal leak, the operator is informed by the integrated leak detection system. Leak detection system The double carcass hoses are supplied with electronic sensors at each end. The sensor is an optical autonomous unit that detects the presence of oil at the interface of the primary and double carcass. If oil is detected at the unit, it will activate a series of specially designed pulsating LED's. Special mechanical system can also be supplied on request.
