Head Coach Joe Fussner Joe Fussner continues his run of success into its 14th consecutive season and 19th overall as Stockton s head coach. Fussner is an extremely knowledgeable and experienced basketball man who constantly seeks new and innovative strategies for his team to utilize. The Ospreys have won two NJAC championships and made nine postseason appearances under Fussner s direction, including the program s only four NCAA Tournament berths plus one ECAC Metro title in his three stints on the Stockton bench. Fussner has led the Ospreys to two NJAC crowns, three NCAA Tournament berths and five ECAC playoff appearances since his current term as Stockton s head coach began in 1997, with the fifth ECAC berth coming last year. Stockton s run of success under Fussner reached its pinnacle in 2005-06 when the Ospreys got off to their best start ever (11-0) and eventually set a school record with 22 victories. Stockton also finished in first place in the NJAC and earned its second consecutive NCAA Tournament berth. Fussner first brought Stockton into the league s elite in 1999-00 with an inspired postseason run. The fourth-seeded Ospreys upset the top two seeds to win their first NJAC championship and secure an automatic NCAA Tournament bid. They advanced to the second round before finishing with an 18-10 record, and Fussner was rewarded with NJAC Coach of the Year honors. That season began a string of four straight years with at least 18 wins and included an ECAC Metro championship in 2001. Fussner led a young Stockton team with just one senior to the NJAC championship and an 18-10 record during the 2004-05 season. Along the way, he earned his 200th victory at Stockton with a 47-42 win over Montclair State on February 12, 2005. The campaign also was one of six in the seven-year span from 1999-2006 in which Fussner led the Ospreys to at least 18 wins. Fussner initially became the Stockton head coach in 1982 and went 55-22 over a three-year span that included one NCAA Tournament bid, two ECAC playoff berths and a then-school-record 20 wins in 1983-84. After a two-year hiatus, Fussner returned to Stockton in 1987 and won NJAC Coach of the Year after the Ospreys went 14-12 and returned to the ECAC tournament. His current stint as head coach began in 1997-98 when he inherited a 4-19 team that he improved to 14-10 in just two years. From 1974 to 1981, Fussner led the Atlantic City High School girls basketball team to two Group IV state championships, four South Jersey titles, and seven Cape Atlantic League crowns. Between 1988 and 1995, Fussner coached the Atlantic City boys basketball team to a 144-24 mark and six Cape Atlantic League titles. Coaching Staff Jean Gyurics Associate Head Coach Jean Gyurics has assumed the title of associate head coach as she enters her fourth year on the Stockton coaching staff. Gyurics possesses over 20 years of basketball coaching experience, including one season as the head coach at Rutgers- Camden. Prior to her ascension to the college level, she was the head coach at Winslow Township High School, where she led the Eagles to the South Jersey Group IV semifinals in 2002. Gyurics also became the first female boys basketball coach in New Jersey history with one season at South River High School in 1979-80. Gyurics holds a full-time position as a health and physical education teacher at Winslow Township High School. She and her husband reside in Galloway Township. Isaac Cahoe Assistant Coach Isaac Cahoe joins the Stockton women s basketball staff as an assistant coach for the 2010-11 season. Cahoe is a veteran coach with experience on the youth, high school and college levels. He served as an assistant coach at Eastern University from 1995-99 before moving on to a head coach position at E.S. Miller School in Philadelphia, where he was on the bench from 2000-06. Cahoe, a retired teacher from the Philadelphia school system, also coached in the Sonny Hill youth league for 20 years and worked with a wheelchair basketball team in Philadelphia for seven years from 2001-08. 3 Stockton Women s Basketball

2010-11 Season Preview After two years of building through youth, the 2010-11 Stockton women s basketball team is poised for a breakout season. Even with the usual tough NJAC schedule and non-conference, the Ospreys look like they will be right in the mix for the upcoming season and there is a lot to be excited about. The squad returns its top five scorers from 2009-10 and expectations are high for the Ospreys this season because they feel that they will be aggressive and anticipate further improvement from last year. Juniors LaTonya Oliver and Aliyah Nelson are the leaders of a squad that had seven different players finish near the top of the NJAC statistical categories last season. Oliver, a two-time NJAC Honorable Mention selection, led the team in points (11.1 ppg) and field goal percentage (.573, second in NJAC) and finished second on the team in rebounds (7.5 rpg) and blocks (1.0 bpg, fifth in conference play) a year ago. Nelson, an NJAC Honorable Mention selection last season, averaged 30 minutes per game in playing time while dishing out 57 assists (second on the team) and averaging 2.41 steals per game, good for seventh in the NJAC. Oliver and Nelson will have plenty of help this season from an additional eight returning letter winners. Sophomore Che Na Thompson will try to elevate her game from a breakout freshman season in which she tied for the team scoring lead with 11.1 points per game and pulled down 5.9 rebounds per contest. Thompson was named NJAC Rookie of the Week on three occasions during the 2009-10 season. Julia Fagan, one of only two seniors on the roster, brings her 7.9 rebounds per game and 102 offensive boards (second in NJAC) back for her final season. Sophomores Aspen Price-Perry and Noelle Hogan also return for the Ospreys. Last year, Price-Perry led the team with 60 assists and 29 three-pointers while Hogan blocked 1.15 shots per game, leading the team and ranking fourth in the conference. Sophomore Shannon Lane gives Stockton another long-range shooting threat and junior Sula Washington adds experience and athleticism in the frontcourt. Sophomore Daimis Ortiz is capable of providing minutes at guard while forward Kaitlyn Loftus, a senior, brings maturity. Sophomore Jill Shaner is coming off knee surgery but hopes to be back on the court soon. Head coach Joe Fussner is very optimistic that his team will improve even more from last season. Last year s team was very young and hopefully the tough schedule we played last year will benefit us this season, Fussner said. They are still young but they have experience and they have also played in the conference tournament and postseason by 4 Stockton Women s Basketball

playing in the ECAC tournament. Fussner also said that a couple of newcomers this season should help the team as well. Freshman Lauren Alwan has been a pleasant surprise. She needs experience but she will be a solid college player, said Fussner. Junior Amanda Feldman also is a newcomer and she brings us some needed backcourt experience. Amanda is a transfer from Wilmington College and has some outside shooting capability as well as the ability to be a floor leader. Freshman Erin MacAdams also should contribute upon return from injury. MacAdams is a point guard who also shoots the ball well. 2010-11 Season Preview 2010-11 Roster No. Name Pos. Yr. Ht.
