Double face grinding In DDS - XR series machine, a transfer disc moves the workpieces through the grinding zone. This method allows the coplanar grinding of workpieces of very different shapes. Depending on the machine configuration, four different grinding methods are available. This makes the DDS - XR series the ideal candidate for machining a broad range of workpieces at top-level quality in a flexible and economic manner. Its small footprint and an operating panel on just one side facilitates an automated setup of the grinding machine while leaving the option of manual loading for small batches. This is exactly what DISKUS WERKE Schleiftechnik developed the IONIC18 process control computer. It communicates with the machine control unit to detect non-conforming workpiece tolerances caused by grinding wheel wear or other reasons and readjusts the distance between the grinding wheels without stopping the process, thus ensuring consistent machining results.
