The campers had the opportunity to experience a wide variety of activities and field trips over the three weeks. Activities included an introduction to soccer, basketball, baseball, tennis, pickleball, dance and disc golf. They also spent three hours per week receiving art instruction from the Art of Giving Art Studio in Wendell. Our special guests for the camp included Mayor Ginna Gray, who played games with the kids and brought them a special town of Wendell challenge coin. Town Manager Teresa Piner who shared how our town operates, the Wendell Fire and Police Departments where campers learned about what a policeman and fireman do and about safety! The campers really included meeting these folks and learning about how they protect and serve our community. Field trips included a trip to downtown Wendell for pizza and ice cream, bowling in Clayton, a movie in Wake Forest, a tour of Wendell Town Hall, a tour of the Wendell Police Department and a tour of the Wendell Falls Farmhouse with a nice warm cup of hot chocolate! Due to the colder temperatures campers did not get outside as much as we had hoped but when we did we were able to play on the playground, play kickball, play disc golf, explore the trails of Wendell Park and learn about the trees and wildlife that you will find throughout the park. Thirty five different campers were able to enjoy our first ever Track Out Camp and we hope that many more will register for the next two sessions coming up March 7-18 th, 2016 and March 28-April 19 th, 2016.
