COMPETITION WARM-UP SAFETY PROCEDURES Meet Management for all sanctioned Canadian swimming competition must ensure the following safety procedures are applied. It is incumbent on coaches, swimmers, and officials to comply with these procedures during all scheduled warm-up periods. Coaches are requested to encourage swimmers to cooperate with Safety Marshals. GENERAL WARM-UP: EQUIPMENT: VIOLATIONS: Swimmers must enter the water FEET FIRST in a cautious manner, entering from a start or turn end only and from a standing or sitting position. Running on the pool deck and running entries into the pool tank are prohibited. Meet Management may designate the use of sprint or pace lanes during the scheduled warm- up time. Any such lane usage must be communicated either in pre-competition handout, announcement or deck signage. Diving starts shall be permitted only in designated sprint lanes. Only one-way swimming from the start end of sprint lanes is permitted. Notices or barriers must be placed on starting blocks to indicate no diving during warmup. Kick Boards, Pull-Buoys, Ankle Bands, and Snorkels are permitted for use in the scheduled warm-up time. Meet Management may permit use of tubing or cord assisted sprinting in designated lanes and during specific times of the warm-up only. Coaches are responsible for equipment reliability and use. Hand paddles, drag chutes, and flippers / fins are not permitted during any warm-up at any time. Swimmers witnessed by a Safety Marshal diving or entering the water in a dangerous fashion will be removed without warning from their first event following the warm-up period in which the violation occurred. In the case of a second offense during the same competition the swimmer will be removed

SAFETY MARSHALS: from the competition in its entirety. A provincial disciplinary action or report may be filed. The Safety Marshal is a trained position designated by Meet Management. Safety Marshals shall: Be visible by safety vest Be situated at each end of the competition tank and when applicable, similarly situated in designated warm-up tanks when pre-competition warm-ups are scheduled. Actively monitor all scheduled warm-up periods. Ensure participants comply with warm-up safety procedures and report violations to the Referee. PARA-SWIMMER NOTIFICATION: Coaches are requested to notify Safety Marshals of any Para-swimmers participating in warm-ups where necessary and at the coach s discretion. The following statement must appear in all Swimming Canada sanctioned meet information and posted notices: SWIMMING CANADA WARM-UP COMPETITION SAFETY PROCEDURES WILL BE IN EFFECT AT THIS MEET. The only meet package which will be considered as valid is the most current version found on www.swimming.ca/meetlist.aspx.

Sanctioned by: Swim Ontario Meet Results: The meet will run on Hy-Tek Meet Manager 6.0 for Windows. Official Results will be uploaded to https://www.swimming.ca/meetlist.aspx at the end of the meet, and posted on the LAC website www.londonaquaticclub.ca (after each day of the meet). Unofficial results will be posted to Meet Mobile after each event. Concessions: A snack bar will be open throughout the meet. Swim Supplies: Team Aquatic Supplies will have a booth at the pool all your equipment needs throughout the weekend for Meet Rules 1. Swimmers must be registered with an Amateur Aquatic Association recognized by FINA and their registration number must be included in the entry file. 2. Current SNC rules will govern the meet. 3. SNC warm-up procedures will be in effect at this meet. 4. Age Classifications - Male and Female: 10 & Under, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 & Over. 5. Age determined as of the first day of the meet, Friday May 13 th, 2016. 6. Each swimmer must swim / will be awarded in the proper age group.

7. ** SCRATCH RULE **: The scratch deadline for Finals sessions will be 30 minutes after the conclusion of the preliminary session. If a swimmer is a late scratch or is a no show or steps down for a Final swim, that swimmer will not be allowed to swim any of their other events during that Final session. While there is no monetary penalty for Finals scratches, to be fair to alternates please inform us of all scratches. There will be a positive check-in for Finals and distance events. 8. Preliminary events with fewer than 9 swimmers will still swim. They will not go straight to Finals. Results will be split out by age classifications for Finals. 9. 13 & Over Preliminary and Timed Finals sessions on Saturday and Sunday mornings will be senior seeded. 10. All Preliminary and Timed Final events on Saturday and Sunday will run double-ended chase format. If the number and mix of swimmers warrants, adjustments may be made to balance the number of heats at each end. 11. 800 / 1500 Free: Meet management will notify clubs in the event of 800/1500m event restrictions. 13 & Over will swim combined both age and gender awarded separated by age classification and gender. May be limited to the first 48 entries, a maximum of 6 heats per event. Mixed Gender Swimming for 13 & Over: Please notify the Meet Manager ASAP for any possible RECORD swims in the mixed gender 800/1500 freestyle events. Athletes must swim with same gender for records. Will be senior seeded fastest to slowest. Top 16 will swim one per lane, slower heats MAY swim 2 per lane. If two per lane then the event will run double

ended to allow for block starts and the same timing system for all. Swimmers may enter EITHER the 800 or the 1500 event NOT both. 800m free 11 & Over only. 1500m free 13 & Over only. 12 400 Free and 400 IM Events: MAY be limited to 48 swimmers, a maximum of 6 heats per event. Meet management will notify clubs in the event of 400m event restrictions. & Over 400m free will swim as Timed Finals, swimming slowest to fastest in the morning only on Saturday. & Over 400m IM will swim as Timed Finals, swimming slowest to fastest in the morning only on Sunday. 10 & Under 400m free will swim Friday afternoon. 13. Time Final Events: 12 & Under - all Timed Finals. 13 & Over 50s for all strokes (except 50 free, which will go to Finals), 400/800/1500m. Timed Final events will have age categories seeded together but will be separated out for awards. 14. 50m Events: Will all start in the DEEP end. Preliminaries and Timed Finals are senior seeded. Ages will be split out for awards and Finals. 15. Meet management reserves the right to limit the number of entries in any event. 16. Deck entries may be accepted (as Exhibition Swims) to fill empty lanes or scratched lanes, but will not be eligible for awards in those events. The fee for a deck entry is $10.00 ($15.00 for 800/1500) H.S.T. included payable at time of request. 17. Maximum 3 events per session except 50 s in sessions IV and V where 4 events are allowed.

18. Sprint lanes for the last 25 minutes of warm-ups. Lane 1 and Lane 8 will be assigned for sprinting. One direction swimming only 19. Meet management requires that any coach wishing to rely on a time achieved by the swimmer for an interval shorter than the total distance of the event shall so advise the Referee prior to the start of the session. 20. Meet Officials will provide a safe environment and an organized competition. We are not responsible for the supervision of the athletes during the competition or during session breaks. 21. Mixed Gender: The host seeks an exemption from the requirement to swim events in gender separated events for distance events due to facility or time limitations, swimming separated by gender would not permit all swims to be completed while offering reasonable opportunities to swim for all participants, and in particular on an equitable basis for swimmers of each gender. 22. In the event of unforeseen circumstances, beyond the control of the City of London or London Aquatic Club, for example but not limited to weather interruptions or facility malfunctions, that force the cancellation of part or all of the meet, a partial refund may be granted at the discretion of the Meet Manager. 23. Photographers must obtain authorization from meet management before the start of event to access the deck. 24. Only swimmers, certified registered coaches, officials and authorized person are allowed on deck.

Entries Entries: No qualifying times for events less than 200m. Coaches if sending short course times, please be aware that conversions to long course times will occur. Entries accepted at Meet Management s discretion. SNC POLICY ON SWIMWEAR Effective September 1, 2009, all swimwear worn in swimming competitions sanctioned under the authority of Swimming Canada must conform to the January 1, 2010 FINA swimwear approval guidelines as listed below. MATERIAL The material of swimwear will definitively be constituted only by textile fabric(s). The FINA definition of textile currently is: Material consisting of, natural and/or synthetic, individual and nonconsolidated yarns used to constitute a fabric by weaving, knitting, and/or braiding. SHAPE MEN: swimwear shall not extend above the navel or below the knee. SHAPE WOMEN: swimwear shall not cover the neck, extend past the shoulder, nor extend below knee. No zippers or other fastening system is allowed. USE Swimmers shall wear only one swimsuit, taping is not permitted. CONSISTENCY Swimwear effectively manufactured and used shall correspond to and be fully consistent with FINA approved samples. Any modification before use (including impregnation) is prohibited. Moreover, there shall be no variation/modification for individual swimmers. SWON/SNC Record Policy: Required for ALL New National and Provincial records National and Provincial Record forms to include: Referees must sign the new record application form confirming that a swimmer was wearing a legal suit when a record was created. Coaches will be notified that (record) swimmers must report to the session referee (meet referee) for suit verification. Referees must carry a signoff sheet and list of FINA approved suits (see SNC website). Record applications will not be accepted unless form is properly completed.

Canada Games Aquatic Centre Event Procedure Policy For: Meet Managers, Officials, Coaches, Athletes & Spectators 1. The City Of London Aquatic Staff (and specifically the CGAC Deck Supervisor) will remain in control of the facility at all times during the event. Their decisions and instructions are to be complied with without argument by all participants, coaches and officials. In the event of an emergency, City staff will only transfer care of an individual to EMS personnel. 2. No coach or official may permit a swimmer to enter the pool prior to the lifeguards being in place. No swimmer is to enter the pool without lifeguards in place. 3. All participants must obey all pool rules as posted. 4. No outside footwear may be worn on the pool deck by any participant, coach, official or any other person. 5. No food of any kind is permitted on the pool deck, except for refreshments provided directly to officials. 6. Coaches are responsible for the conduct of their team at all times in all areas of the facility. 7. Participants / coaches are responsible for picking up their garbage and depositing it in waste containers; excessive garbage left on the pool deck will be billed as an additional staffing charge. 8. Participants must be dry and wearing footwear on the upper level. 9. Participants / coaches / officials must not leave belongings in front of access points, including but not limited to emergency exits, staff offices, first aid rooms, change rooms, etc. 10. Parking is permitted in designated areas only; parking is not permitted on curbs or on grass areas surrounding the building. Signs will be posted indicating parking locations. City Of London By-Law Single Use Disposable Water Bottles According to the City of London by-laws, single use disposable standard water bottles can no longer be sold at events hosted at city-owned facilities. We will continue with our Maximize Waste Diversion. Water coolers / city water taps will be available for water needs for our Athletes, Coaches, Officials, and Volunteers. Please make sure that you bring a refillable water bottle with you to our meet.
