Chelmsford High's a cappella ensemble qualifies for international competition in New York Gina C. is a Music Theory student with John. She is in an a cappella ensemble called, The Thursdays. Chelmsford High School's a cappella ensemble, The Thursdays, participated in the northeast semifinal round of the International Championship of High School A Cappella, more commonly referred to as ICHSA. The Thursdays placed first in the semifinal round, and will advance to the finals in New York City in April. The final round will feature 10 high-school a cappella groups from across North America, and will include eight of the semifinalist round winners and two wild-card ensembles. The finals will be held at Town Hall Theater, 123 West 43rd St., in New York City, on Friday, April 21, at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at ticketmaster.com. "I'm particularly proud of the way this year's group coalesced around their competition set," said Amanda Roeder, CHS's choral director. "The students chose three songs that highlight themes of division, isolation and unity. They feel a deep connection with the music, and it is incredibly gratifying to watch them bring their message to an increasingly wider audience."
