Youth Outreach
How To Use This Event This is event is three week we use to do several things 1. Increase our summer attendance. 2. Get adults and kids working and playing together. 3. Expose more kids to who Jesus is and what our group is about. We use it during the summer but you can use it any time. No matter when you use it, follow these simple steps 1. Advertise it early. It s coming! 2. Let kids help design it. (ask them about games, tribe names, etc.) 3. Recruit the right leaders. 4. Commit to doing the event with excellence 5. Prep your games and think them through. Some may work and others will not but your prep time will flesh this out. We don t want ids to get hurt. The goal is fun, not blood. And there you go. Simple right? I hope this event gives you the push your youth group needs. I hope even more that new kids will come and discover that Christianity is a tribe worth belonging to because of the Great Tribe Leader Jesus. Game On! Tribes Handbook Tribes is a multi-week sports outreach to our community. We use camp style games to attract young people with the goal of some of these kids, who do not go to church, to stick around after tribes is over. Our interaction with our tribes is pivotal. We are giving the tribe that wins, a free trip to Six Flags. What is expected from a TRIBE leader 1. Show up. Itʼs hard to lead and have influence if we are not present 2. Contact your tribe at least once a week. If you want to encourage, motivate, and build your tribe you touch base with them through a text, Facebook post, or phone call. 3. Show good sportsmanship. This event is competitive and fun. Itʼs easy to get too competitive. Please donʼt argue openly with rulings and refs. Point System There are four ways your tribe can accumulate points Attendance Your tribe receives 10,000 pts for each tribe member who is in attendance. Games The games breakdown is as follows 50,000 pts for 1st Place 35,000 pts for second place 25,000 pts for 3rd place I reserve the right to add or take away points.
Giving We will be taking offering every week. $1,000 points for every dollar given. You can use the funds to go towards the winning tribes reward trip and the rest for other special projects you ore your church may have. Guests We want you to build your tribe through encouraging your tribe to bring friends, and especially friends who do not attend church. Students who are invited by your tribe will be on your tribe. Once they are on your tribe they cannot join another tribe. Each new person who joins your tribe is worth 20,000 pts each. Please follow up with new tribe members within a few days and thank them for coming. This will increase the chances of that new tribe member returning. Rules for The Six Flag Trip We want to reward the winning team, but we also want to reward faithfulness. To honor commitment and prevent slackers from claiming a free trip without contributing, we will be charging people $10 a week they are not in attendance. So, if a student comes one week but not the other three (based on four weeks), they owe $30, etc. The rest of the youth group can come to Six Flags, but only the winning Tribe goes for free.
The Schedule Week 1 Opening Ceremony/Team Building/Competition Team building will involve an activity, making a flag, creating cheer, etc. All of this will be important during Spirit Week. Week 2 Team Building/Team Competition/ Spirit Night- Team Building/Competition Week 3 Spirit Week In addition to the competitions, we will be awarding extra points for the TRIBE who has the most TRIBE spirit. Points will be awarded for best cheer, song, and general participation. (we added a new category this year called promo video, where kids could create an invitation video for their tribe and post it. They received 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place points for that as well) Week 3 Final games and Tribes Closing Ceremony and Awards Follow Up We hope that through your efforts over the weeks a deeper bond will emerge between you and the youth of our church. Feel free to stay in contact with your tribe and especially those who have no church home, inviting them to other youth and church events. Thank you for being a tribe leader this summer and we look forward to your continued participation in our youth ministry.

Starting from the back, the student goes under the next student and over the next etc. Once the student in the back clears 2 people the next person in the back can go. Game 2: Snake Pit Students circle up around a big, round trash can. It should go Avenger, MIB, Dark Knight, Avenger, etc. The circle moves clock wise and you are trying to get your opponent to touch the trash can. If you touch the can (snake bit) you are out. If your break hands you and the person you broke with are out (you could make a rule where you start eliminating after three breaks.) Game 3: Bucket Ball Guys and Girls Teams This is a combination of Ultimate Frisbee and Basketball. Teams take the ball out and must pass it. You cannot take step with the ball or it goes the other way. Each team has a player at the other end of the court, standing on a crate or chair, holding bucket. This is where the team needs to place their ball. They can shoot it or drop it in, but the basket will be guarded just like basketball.

A girl will lay down on the mattress and the boys will pass the girl on the mattress down line all the way to the end. At the end the girl will jump off and the boys will pass the empty mattress back to the head of the line to pick up another girl. Week 3 Schedule- Epic Night We have made our last week an epic night. We have a big cook out and bring special games like sumo wrestling or giant hamster balls or an inflatable of some kind. We close out the night by giving awards, eating, and playing the games (minus the competition) For more great ideas and resources check out www.thediscipleproject.net
