M aintenance S chedule 2 B efore E xercising To guard against injury, a l equipm ent users should fo low these instructions. n Check w ith your physician and get approval before beginning a training routine. n Becom e fam iliar w ith the equipm ent before beginning a training routine. n Always warm-up before and cool down after exercising. n Move slowly during each exercise. Do not jerk or "throw" the w eight. n Breathe freely. D o not hold your breath w hile lifting or low ering w eight. n Hold movement arms and handles firmly, do not squeeze or grip tightly. n Structure each w orkout to exercise the largest m uscles first. Suggested routines are found in the N autilus Total Fitness Program. n Experim ent to find the exact w eight you need for each exercise. Select a resistance that allow s you to perform eight to tw elve slow repetitions. Take two seconds to lift the w eight. Pause briefly, and take four seconds to low er the w eight. Stop exercising im m ediately if you experience a sharp nerve or joint pain, and seek m edical advice. G eneral M aintenance Frequency of m aintenance is determ ined by several factors: tem perature, hum idity, use, ventilation and filtration, shielding and friction. External m aintenance m ay vary from daily to m onthly, internal m aintenance from six m onths in a club environm ent to a year w hen used in a m ulti-user setting. 1. SPOT CHECK LOOSE NUTS AND BOLTS A. Carefully check rotation points. B. Tighten loose parts im m ediately. A lso check for w orn parts, seat belts and upholstery pads. 2. UPHOLSTERY PAD TIGHTENING M ost bolts on upholstery pads can be tightened w ith a 9/16 com bination w rench. 3. SHIELD REMOVAL Som e N autilus m achines are equipped w ith quick-release shield fasteners. To rem ove Q uick-release shielding, gently pull shielding aw ay from the fram e. U se a proper screw driver to remove shield, which is attached to the frame with screws. 4. SHIELD INSTALLATION Snap Q uick-release in place. Tighten screw s only snugly.
