Dear Teachers, Parents and Dancers, We are happy to announce that the 4th Taipei Feis will be held in the Novotel Taipei Taoyuan International Airport Hotel, on Sunday 6th December 2015. The Feis is open to dancers from all regions at every level. We are delighted to welcome Richard Griffin ADCRG from London and Kevin McCarron ADCRG from Birmingham to judge our feis this year. All 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in trophy competitions will be awarded a trophy and the 1st place winner will also receive a sash. All 1st place winners in traditional set dance competitions will receive a trophy. Every dancer who attends our feis will receive a medal. We will stage Preliminary and Premier Championships again this year. All Open dancers will have the opportunity to dance their modern set in the Premier Championships. Dancers who do not have a modern set may participate in our Preliminary Championships. The three rounds in this section are the heavy round/light round/traditional set. Separate solo round results will be given as well as the overall results. We will also run grade exams the day before the feis on Saturday 5th of December from preliminary grades up to grade 8. Upon completion, grade exam attendees will receive an official An Coimisiún certificate indicating their final grade results along with a written evaluation of their exam performance. The closing date for grade exam applications is the 8th November 2015. Should you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us. Rialacha na Feise - Feis Rules 1. The Feis will run in accordance with the Rules of An Coimisiún Le Rincí Gaelacha. 2. Entries will only be accepted from dancing teachers currently registered with An Coimisiún Le Rincí Gaelacha for the years 2015/2016. 3. The lodgement of an entry will be taken to mean that teachers and pupils understand these rules and undertake to abide by them. 4. Objections must be lodged in writing within one hour of the announcement of the result of a competition accompanied by a fee of 50 USD, which will be refunded if the objection is upheld. 5. Age will be taken as on 1st January 2015. Whatever age a dancer turns this year, in 2015, s/he will dance under that age all year long, e.g. if a dancer s date of birth is 29 May 2004, s/he dances under 11 in the year 2015. 6. The Adjudicator s decisions are final. 7. All levels are open to ALL REGIONS. 8. If a Beginner competition has 6 competitors or more, the first 2 places advance to the next grade, regardless of ties. If a Beginner competition has 11 competitors or more, the first 3 places advance to the next grade regardless of ties (RTME ruling, Sept. 2007). 9. If a Primary competition has 6 or more dancers, the first place advances to the next grade, If a Primary competition has 11 competitors or more, the first 2 places advance to the next grade regardless of ties (RTME ruling, Jun. 2011). 10. Beginners Grade competitions are confined to dancers who have never won 1 st or 2 nd (also 3 rd prize, please refer to rule 8) in any competition for that particular dance. In Beginners Grade competitions only basic steps may be performed. 11. Primary Grade competitions are confined to dancers who have never won 1 st (or 2 nd prize, please refer to rule 9) in any competition for that particular dance other than in Beginners Grade. 12. Intermediate Grade competitions are open to all dancers who have not previously won first prize for that particular dance in Intermediate or Open Grade under the same or higher age limits. 13. Preliminary Championships are open to Intermediate/Open level dancers who have never won a 1 st, 2 nd or 3 rd place in Open Championship level and to dancers not participating in the Premier Championships. Dancers will be required to dance 32 bars of music in the reel (gents, ladies) or slip jig (ladies) in the light round, heavy jig or hornpipe in the heavy round, and a Traditional Set. If there

are more than 9 dancers in any competition, it will go to recall. 14. Premiership Championships are open to Open level dancers and to dancers not participating in the Preliminary Cup Competition. Dancers will be required to perform a Heavy Jig or Hornpipe as the heavy round and a reel (gents and ladies) or slip jig (ladies) as the light round and a Non-traditional Set Dance. If there are more than 9 dancers in any competition, it will go to recall. (48 bars of music will be required in the Reel and Heavy Jig; 40 bars of music will be required in the Slip Jig and Hornpipe) 15. Dancers will perform 32 bars in all Beginner, Primary and Intermediate solo competitions. 16. Traditional Set Dance competitions are a choice out of 7 traditional, St. Patrick s Day, Blackbird, Job of Journeywork, Garden of Daisies, King of the Fairies, Jockey to the Fair and Three Sea Captains. If you win a first place in any traditional set dance competition you move on the next level in all 7 traditional set dances. 17. Where there are five dancers or less for Beginner, Primary and Intermediate competitions, the results will not affect their grading. 18. The Feis organizers will use 40 bars for 2 -hands and lead, body and the first figure for 4-hands, 6-hands and 8-hands. 19. Team dances (four hands and upward) must be performed in accordance with the An Coimisiún handbook Ar Rinci Foirne. 20. Within the limits specified in the Rules of An Coimisiún the organizers may at their discretion cancel or mix competitions with insufficient entries. 21. Competitors must be in costume and ready to dance 30 minutes before their competitions are scheduled to start. 22. No refunds will be made. 23. The use of video and/or digital cameras in the hall is not permitted, except in Beginner & Primary competitions (CRLG Ruling Dec. 2011). 24. Feis organizers cannot accept any liability for injuries sustained or for the loss of, or damage to property or belongings which may occur during the Feis.

25. Music will be played at the recognized Mainland European speeds: Beginners Primary Inter/Open Reel 121/123 116/118 113 Light Jig 116 116 116 Slip Jig 121 118 113 Single Jig 123 123 121 Heavy Jig 89 79 73 Hornpipe 142 130 113 26. An Coimisiún has ruled that from 1 st January each year, that no block, en pointe, stationary or moving, be allowed to be performed for all ages up to and including the under 12 age group worldwide. The Under 12 Age Group will be allowed to toe walk from 1 st September. 27. The dress code in accordance with An Coimisiun rules will be strictly observed i.e. for the sake of modesty, and in the interest of safety to young people dancers will not be permitted to walk around the Feis scantily dressed. 28. Order and quiet must be kept in the hall, particularly while competitors are dancing. 29. Only Feis officials may approach the adjudicators during competition sessions. 30. All Beginners and Primary dancers of all age groups may only wear a class costume, simple dancewear or appropriate attire (skirt and top/blouse, simple dress for girls and ladies, trousers and T-shirt/shirt for boys and gents). Makeup will not be permitted for any dancer in the first two grades up to and including the Under 12 age group worldwide. All Novotel family rooms can comfortably accommodate 2 adults and 1 child;child under 16 years of age may share their parents room with no additional charges. Bookings can be made via booking form attached at NT$4,400 per room per night for single occupancy, NT$4,730 per room per night for a twin/double room and Executive Suites from NT$7,260 per room per night. All room rates include daily buffet breakfast, local taxes with free cancellation 24 hours prior to the scheduled arrival date.
