President s Column By Michael Messimore The annual Tulsa Ski Club sign-up picnic is here again and Vice President and Winter Trip Chair Dana Gray has put together a great group of affordable trips. Monarch is a completely different winter break trip this year with its affordability and hometown hospitality. The MLK weekend trip is a fly-up trip to Whitefish, Montana. I ve always wanted to ski at Whitefish, that is located right next to Glacier National Park with direct flights from Salt Lake City, Las Vegas, and Denver. I was asked why I wanted to go to a little place like Whitefish, MT, and I don t think that person knows they have more than 3,000 acres of terrain. That is huge. I m going because I like new trails and no lift lines. It is going to be a great trip and sure to sell out quick with only 20 spots left. The Innsbruck trip is close behind the Whitefish trip and followed by Flatlands at Steamboat Springs. If you haven t been to Steamboat or on a Flatlands trip, you should check out the fun. The President s Day trip to Crested Butte is probably already sold out despite Terry and Gene taking two busses. Don Woolsey will be returning to Taos after a one year break. I think he went last year, but he forgot without a bus load of people. The steal of the year other than Whitefish is probably Copper Mountain. Dana secured some really special pricing for a Spring Break trip. Georgenia Vantuyl has become the newest member of the 2010-2011 board and will serve as Skimeister editor. She has been in the club for many years and is a P a s t P r e s i d e n t. H e r experience is a tremendous asset to the club. Thanks to all your board members who are really working hard to make the club a better place. I hope to see everyone at the Elks Lodge on September 19 th from 1-4pm.
