I know a lot of you still have inclement weather but you really have something to look forward to once you can get out on your Trikke carving vehicle. This is a long but I think an informative newsletter. You can download and print by clicking this link. Step-Up Florida Event - Saturday, February 2, 2008 Trikke SKKI Competion in Utah Acura L.A. Bike Tour XIV - March 2, 2008 Trikke Warranty Registration T78-CS Maintenance Tips DON'T on the Trikke Riding Tips and Basics 2008 T8-Air (aka T8'08) New T12 Colors Trikke Maintenance Last Years 2nd Annual Florida Trikke Fun Ride SKKI Utah Step-Up Florida, Polk County Event in Lakeland, Florida - Saturday, February 2, 2008: When Trikke Tampa participated in the FAHPERDS (Florida Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, Dance and Sports) conference in Orlando, Florida on November 2, 2007 we met an organizer of the Polk County Step-Up Florida event. This year is the 5th Annual Step-Up Florida event. She was so intrigued after our presentation that she insisted we bring the Trikke to this event. She also wants as many Trikke riders as we can possibly get to attend. It's a 4 hour long event with hundreds of participants and expect lots of media coverage. It's expected the Florida State Surgeon General will be present. To our hundreds and hundreds of local Trikke riders we hope to see you at this one-day event on Saturday, February 2nd! There will be a 6 mile ride that starts at 8:30am so bring your Trikke and be ready to show Florida how to really Rock'N'Roll while carving your way to health and fitness! Where: Fort Fraser Trail, Polk County Community College & Bartow Regional Medical Center - Click for Directions When: February 2, 2008 Time: 8:00am - Noon Cost: FREE For more information and detailed directions please visit www.stepupflorida.org. If you plan on attending try and let Jana Clark at Trikke Tampa know so we'll have an idea of who and how many will be attending. You can contact her at 813-319-3735 or email jana@trikkefit.com. Trikke SKKI Competion at Powder Mountain, Utah - February 14-17, 2008 For you SKKI bums there will tentatively be the first ever Trikke Skki competition in Salt Lake City, Utah at Powder Mountain Ski Resort. Trikke is still trying to get the details worked out with the resort to allow the competition. They hope to have confirmation in the next few days. Either way this is the beginning of a new era on US soil! The Europeans have been holding Trikke Skki competitions for a couple of years and it's really been the new rave on the slopes. This is taking the Trikke and snow to the next level! EVERYONE IS WELCOME and encouraged to attend. Trikke will have several skki's available for anyone who wants to give it a go.

Thursday, Feb 14th - Trikke Skki participants arrive. Gives full day of fun on the Skki for Friday Friday, Feb 15th - Fun day on the Skki and getting familiar with it Saturday, Feb 16th - Tentative competition by those who want to participate. Fun before and after the race. Sunday, Feb 17th - More fun on the Skki and travel day for many Our good friends Nick and Adam with Trikke SLC and Claudio Pagan will be coordinating most of the efforts and will be the POC for this event. John Simpson and Gildo Beleski will be attending to help make this event successful and the beginning of bigger and better Trikke Skki competitions in the years to come. You can contact Nick and Adam at 801-208-9386 or email: trikkebros@trikkeslc.com Never tried the Trikke Skki? Here's your opportunity! They say if you can Trikke you will take right to the Trikke Skki. You already know the motion and coordination which makes this the easiest way of skki'ing. And there's no special equipment required. No clunky, uncomfortable skki boots. You can wear your regular snow or insulated water proof boots. No ski tips to cross up and you don't have to start on the bunny slopes. Most experienced Trikke riders that have never snow ski'd can go to the top of the mountain on their very first run and look like a pro on the slopes. I have to be honest that I've never tried the Trikke Skki. Trikke Tech has invited Jana and I numerous times to the events they've held over the past 2 seasons. Unfortunately, and once again we are unable to make it due to previous commitments. NEXT YEAR we will be there! Acura L.A. Bike Tour XIV - March 2, 2008 You've seen the Trikke riders in the infomercial carving in the LA Bike Tour. It's a flat at your own pace ride that is 26 miles long. One guy bought his Trikke on Saturday and rode the LA Bike Tour on Sunday. His testimonial is on the infomercial. The streets have been cleared of all motor vehicles. According to Trikke riders that have done this in the past this is one of the best events to ride your Trikke. Jana and I are heading to California to participate and see what all the hoopla is about. We want to invite ALL Trikke riders to come and join us. This will be a great opportunity and very exciting for us to meet some of our customers and fellow Trikke riders for the first time. Just talking to some of you we feel like a friendship has already been formed. John Simpson (Pres. Trikke Tech, Inc.), Claudio Pagan and others that were featured in the infomercial will be riding too. It appears there are going to be event festivities after the ride so there should be plenty of food and drink for all. We don't have our exact itinerary for the trip but we hope to have something more definitive in the next couple of weeks. One thing is for certain, the ride is on March 2nd and we will be there! So go ahead and get pre-registered. Come on out and join us! Lets make this the biggest Trikke turnout on the west coast!

If you plan on attending please let us know. This way we can have a list and know who all to look for before the ride gets started. If you contact us to let us know you'll be there then the morning of the event we'll give you a FREE Trikke Tampa t-shirt so be sure to let us know your shirt size too. We have some new colors and design in progress. Send an email to andy@trikketampa.com or give us a call at 1-877-2TRIKKE (877-287-4553). For more info and to register please visit this link.. If we cannot resolve your problem then we will contact Trikke for you. We're your one stop shop for all your Trikke needs! T78-CS & T67-S Preventative Maintenance: The new Trikke T78-CS has by far been our most popular seller. It's a really cool ride that is easy to make-go and fits most peoples budget. It's design was for the teen and adult but with it's shorter wheel base it gives it much more versatility for riders just getting started. With thousands of units now on the street I want to mention a couple of very important maintenance aspects. First: Be sure to check all bolts once a week for tightness. It's imperative on any Trikke model but especially on the new T78's and T67's. It's also prudent to do a visual inspection of your Trikke before each ride to ensure there aren't any missing or broken parts or components. As with any machine or vehicle it's dependability and performance is directly proportional to how well it's maintained. DON'T on the Trikke: Do not ride or roll your Trikke backwards while standing on it. Permanent damage can result and it's NOT covered by the warranty. The T78 and T67 are made of steel and the legs will literally spread apart by causing a bend at the cambering joint. You can bend the legs back to the normal position but with continuous bending of steel it will weaken until it finally breaks. Just doing it one time can also cause the retaining rings on the cambering system to pop out. For the other Trikke models, like the T8-Air and T12, that are made of aluminum it's very damaging to the frame. The aircraft grade aluminum will not bend like the T78 or T67 but it WILL cause stress fractures and eventual failure and a broken frame. We've seen this a few times and it's totally preventable. You'll see in the picture exactly where the frame will break if a rider is continuously stressing the frame by rolling or riding backwards. Riding Tips and Basics: So, you've had your Trikke for a few weeks and are still baffled why it looks so easy in the video's. The most important thing that people don't realize is the importance of the upper body movement AND the leaning of the Trikke. We've taught hundreds of people how to ride and nine times out of ten most will try and make it go by using the feet alone. Without the proper upper body motion and the Trikke properly turning and leaning into the turn you CANNOT get a lateral push on the opposite foot. Your body and the Trikke will be too perpendicular to the ground and you will not get the lateral thrust required. The simplest way we teach a person to ride is to have them totally IGNORE the lower body for the first few minutes. You'll simply focus on the proper turn and lean of the upper body AND the Trikke. Granted you'll be moving slowly but with the proper turn and lean left and turn and lean right your legs should start to feel what is happening and you'll start gaining speed as you get closer to that sweet spot. Upper Body First: The simplest way to explain the upper body motion of the Trikke is like zigzagging on a bike or a motorcycle but with the exception that you're standing on your feet rather than sitting down. This is a motion that can only be practiced while in forward motion and not standing still. Keep in mind your turning is proportionate to the speed just like on a bicycle or motorcycle. Give yourself a push-off like a scooter and while keeping your shoulders parallel to the handle bars and NOT using your elbows then start turning and leaning left and right. Remember, do not even think about the lower body in the beginning but only let it go with the flow. After a few minutes your legs will start realizing what the action is and then you'll simply start expanding on that. Once you feel the upper body and lower body working in rhythm that's when you'll discover the "sweet spot". It's very recognizable when you hit it! Now, watch the video's again and focus on the motion the rider is putting on the steering column of the Trikke, it's the most important part of learning to ride!

Also remember that the optimal rhythm takes practice. Some people catch on within a day or two while others take a couple of weeks. The more you ride the better you get. You must get on your Trikke and practice almost every day for 30 minutes to an hour and in no time you too will be amazing people at how simple the Trikke is to make-go! The two key words are PRACTICE and DETERMINATION! A good analogy is: Rubbing your stomach and patting your head at the same time. What happens when you do it at the same time is most will pat their stomach AND head or rub their stomach AND head at the same time. The way to learn this rhythm is to first start rubbing your stomach for about 20 to 30 seconds. Then, while still rubbing your stomach and without thinking about it simply start patting your head. It all comes together! Same thing with the Trikke! Upper body first then lower body. New 2008 T8-Air aka T8'08 Talk about a SWEET MACHINE! Not only the new colors and fenders on all three wheels for the eye-appeal but with the custom style handlebars this machine is really COOL! The steering column has also been changed to get more height on the handle bars when on the flats which results in more SPEED! Yes, it cruises faster and easier than any other version of the Trikke T8! Check out the Trikke T8-Air colors and features by clicking here. Comes in Matte Black, Matte Blue, Olive Green and Chocolate Brown! New T12 Roadster Check out the new colors on the T12 Roadster. Now available in Matte Black, Copper Metallic and Green Metallic.
