The Warhawks played two games last year in the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament at Chattanooga but did not play the Mocs - The Warhawks have been strong inside this season and have outscored all four of their opponents in the paint - ULM saw its 47-game streak of holding an opponent to under 75 points come to an end in its last outing at Houston. The Cougars hit a jumper with nine seconds left to reach 76 points. It was the second longest active streak in the nation - Senior Majok Deng leads ULM in scoring with 14.5 points per game. He also grabs 7.5 rebounds per outing and has rejected seven blocks in four games. Deng earned All-Conference Third-Team honors last year and returned as the team s leading scorer, rebounder and shot blocker. He s one of four returning starters and one of five seniors on the roster We are ULM. Munnings leads the SBC in field goal percentage with a.605 (23-38) clip - Keith Richard picked up his 200th career victory as a head coach in an 80-64 victory over Northwestern State on Nov. 19. The 45-point margin of victory was ULM s largest in school history in a season opener. The Warhawks improved to 47-18 all-time in home openers - Ranking 17th in the nation and also leading the league, senior Justin Roberson has gotten his hands on 11 steals through four games (2.75 spg). He posted a career-high five at Northwestern State which followed up on his four steals at Minnesota - Senior DeMondre Harvey has been extremely efficient for the Warhawks off the bench as he s hit 12-14 (.857) field goals this season. He s also 13-16 (.813) from the free throw line, a big improvement compared to his 23-43 (.535) last season - Keith Richard is the reigning Sun Belt Conference and Louisiana Coach of the Year winner. It comes after a 24-win season, the thirdmost in school history and also the third biggest turnaround in the country from the Biggest Turnarounds from 2013-14 to 2014-15 1. ULM Notes Continued... game in April - ULM picked up a pair of preseason honors as Deng was named to the 2015-16 All-Conference Second-Team, while junior Nick Coppola earned recognition on the Third- Team. Deng was also named to the College Sports Madness Preseason All-SBC First-Team while Coppola was Third-Team (page 10) - The Warhawks were picked to finished third in the SBC Preseason Poll. It comes after they finished in a tie for second-place in the SBC standings last season. In 2013-14, ULM was picked to finish dead last preseason Majok Deng - ULM enters its second season without any APR penalties which Richard inherited when he took over at the helm. Richard has turned the program around athletically and academically as the Warhawks have won back-to-back-to-back Sun Belt Conference academic awards - Coppola ranks second all-time in program history in career minutes per game. He played 1,384 minutes last year, third most in the nation and also third in single-season program history. Additionally, Coppola finished second in the SBC last season in both assist:turnover ratio (2.0) and assists (3.7 apg). Cougars Use Second Half Spurt to Top ULM, 76-64 HOUSTON Tied at 49 in the second half, Houston went on a 13-0 run to pull away and ultimately earn a 76-64 result over the ULM men s basketball program on Saturday at Hofheinz Pavillion. Freshman Travis Munning posted a career-high 18 points and went 8-12 from the field and also pulled down six rebounds. Junior Nick Coppola poured in a season-high 15 points for ULM (2-2) on 6-11 shooting. Houston (3-0) was led by Rob Gray Jr. s 22 points off the bench. LeRon Barnes aided the attack with 15 points and 11 rebounds while Ronnie Johnson had 13 points. The Cougars led 40-32 early in the second, but ULM came back and pulled to within one, 42-41 with 15:08 to go after a jumper by senior Majok Deng. The Warhawks tied it, 49-49 after senior Justin Roberson drove and found Munnings underneath for the lay-in with 11:36 remaining. UH responded with back-to-back three-pointers as ULM called a timeout trailing 55-49 at the 10:40 mark. The Cougars kept it going and made it a 13-0 run to lead 62-49 with 8:33 left.
