Corinthian Yacht Club of Philadelphia Junior Sailing Camp Session Schedule 4 weekly sessions running from June 13- July 8 2 weekly advanced courses from July 11-July 22 (Must have completed at least 2 weeks of sailing instruction) The Corinthian Yacht Club invites all young sailors to come and discover the joys of sailing. No experience required! You need a sense of adventure and a willingness to learn. Participants need to provide their own life jacket, sunscreen and swim suit. A variety of activities are planned, including activities in the swimming pool. The program runs from 9:00 AM- 4:00 PM each day and Lunch is included. Activities include - kayaking, canoeing and stand-up paddle boards when the wind does not cooperate, as well as indoor activities. The Junior Sailing Program at CYC continues to grow and expand in our recognition of the youth of CYC and the Philadelphia area. The objective of the program is to provide more sailing and boating education both on and off the water, to a broader age range of participants (i.e., ages 8 through 17). The ADVANCED sessions are designed to introduce and refine racing concepts and skills in 420s and Optis for returning junior sailors and campers with sailing experience. Cost per session: $450 for members/affiliates; $550 for non members What are the ages for camp? Camp is for children ages 8 to 17 What else does my child need to bring to camp? Child needs life jacket, hat, sunscreen, shoes, towel and bathing suit Does the camp provide lunch? Yes, the camp does provide lunch Does my child need to have sailing experience? No experience is necessary except for the advanced weeks Does the camp offer activities other than sailing? Yes, we will offer instruction in canoeing, kayaking, stand-up paddle boards and swimming when the wind/weather does not cooperate for sailing Does my child need to have a boat to attend camp? Camp supplies boats to be used for instruction Does my child need to be able to swim? Yes, your child does need to be able to swim and will have to pass a test What safety precautions can I expect while my child is on the river? Camp Director is US Sailing certified and a certified Red Cross first aid instructor What happens if there is inclement weather? Camp occurs rain or shine. Indoor space is provided
