Miss Queen & Teen Four States Fair and Rodeo 2016 Application Form Please submit the following with completed application form: 1. Copy of Birth Certificate 2. A photocopy of your valid driver s license. 3. Four vertical 5x7 headshot, color photographs in western attire, including cowboy hat and one digital copy of the same photo. Please add name and division on back of photographs. 4. $100 Entry fee for Queen and $50 entry fee for Teen payable to the Four States Fair 5. The enclosed liability waiver document must be completed and returned with this application in order to compete. Please put all of this information together and mail the complete package to the Four States Fair office. Package must be postmarked by July 1, 2016. Queen & Teen Miss Four States Fair & Rodeo Official Rules Four States Fair Rodeo Committee forms this contest to provide opportunities for the young women of the Four States Area to maximize their education potential while promoting the industry of Fairs and the sport of Rodeo. The winner of this contest is a young woman who strives to promote the sport of rodeo in everyday life. She is talented, personable horsewoman with a vast knowledge of the sport of rodeo, equine industry, and the four states area. She is a young lady who enjoys travel and has a sincere interest in garnering educational experiences, which will assist her in laying a solid foundation for her future. Eligibility: Miss Four States Fair & Rodeo Queen must have obtained the age of 17 as of August 1, of the competition year, and not have exceeded the age of 24. Teen Miss Four States Fair & Rodeo must have obtained the age of 13 as of August 1, of the competition year, and not have exceeded the age of 16. General Rules 1. Contestant must provide a copy of her birth certificate. 2. Contestant must pay the required entry fee, or have it sponsored. Entry fees: Miss FSFR Queen $100, Teen Miss FSFR Queen $50. 3. Contestant must submit all required documents, pictures, and application along with entry fee by the due date on the application. 4. No contestant may have been married, pregnant, or have a child, not become engaged, married, or pregnant during the year of her reign. 5. Judges will be selected by the Rodeo Committee. An independent accountant will be utilized to tally scores. No committee members will have access to these scores at any time. Scores will be sealed and delivered to the Emcee of the event prior to crowning. ALL JUDGES SCORE SHEETS WILL BE SEALED FOLLOWING EACH EVENT. Score sheets will be mailed to contestants following the event. MISS FSFR APPLICATION PAGE 3

6. Contestants and individuals related to the contestant may not contact a judge before, during or after the contest. 7. Any grievances must be submitted in writing to the grievance committee prior to crowning. A non-refundable $100 fee will be collected for all filed grievances. A grievance committee will be established including one board member, one staff member, one parent of the current Miss Four States Fair Rodeo and will serve for any grievance. If a grievance is filed, one parent representative from each age group will sit in on the grievance committee. 8. In the event of a tie, the contestants with the highest overall horsemanship scores become the winner. 9. Contestants will participate in a randomly drawn order on all of their events. Order will be decided at orientation. 10. All winners must participate in the FSF Parade (9/10). All participants are welcome to ride in the parade as court. 11. All contestants must sell in advance a minimum of 5-$25 Gala Tickets and 100-$2 Raffle Tickets for a $100 Wal-Mart Gift Card to be given away on the night of the Coronation. 12. Contestants must wear western attire to all events including cowboy hat, boots, and western shirt and Wrangler jeans unless otherwise stated. 13. Should circumstances occur where a contestant is conducting herself in an improper manner, a meeting of the Rodeo Committee will be held and the proper measures will be taken, up to and including dismissal and/or disqualification of the contestant. 14. If a contestant chooses not to compete after submitting her application, no refunds of tickets or entry fee will be given, and she must return her tickets and money immediately. 15. Contestants will be required to be at all events at the time scheduled; points will be deducted for late arrival at the discretion of the judges. (Maximum of 5 points deducted.) Titleholder Rules: The Queen and Teen winners of Miss Four States Fair and Rodeo will be considered our Lady In Waiting and must participate in the Four States Fair Parade and other activities listed under the requirements for said titleholders. Their official reign will begin on Saturday, September 17 th during the PRCA Rodeo, however they will be expected to attend all four nights of the Rodeo (September 14 17 th ). 1. The Queen/Teen winner must be willing to enter into a contract with Four States Fair. 2. The Queen/Teen winners will be allowed with the permission of the FSFR to carry their title forward and compete in other competitions, as long as they can still fulfill their obligations to the FSFR. 3. The Queen/Teen winners must understand that if they win this contest funding for all expenses including travel and wardrobe will be their personal responsibility. The FSFR is continually soliciting sponsorship to assist their Queen/Teen, but it is still primarily the responsibility of the winner to fund her reign. 4. Queen winners must be enrolled in an accredited educational or vocational program to receive scholarship monies. This is a case to case basis so if you have any specific questions, please contact Lisa Barr, Four States Fair (870) 773-2941. 5. The Four States Fair & Rodeo reserves the right to alter any rule, and has the sole authority over any rule discrepancy. RELEASE OF LIABILITY I, the undersigned, being a non-paid contestant, applicant and participating in the Queen and Teen Miss Four States Fair & Rodeo, which is sponsored by the Four States Fair Rodeo Committee, and recognizing that said sponsor is a non-profit organization; and recognizing the non-profit nature of the pageant, and as an express consideration for being allowed to enter the contest, hereby release said Four States Fair Rodeo Committee from any and all claims or demands for liability for accidents or any other liabilities and makes said agreement for herself, her heirs and executors and states that she is of lawful age and legally entitled to make this complete release or if she is a minor have one parent to sign the release. All activities associated with the Queen and Teen Miss Four States Fair Rodeo end on September 30, 2017. After this date the Four States Fair Rodeo Committee shall have no responsibility whatsoever in directing or overseeing any of the activities or affairs of any of the contestants excluding our Queen & Miss Teen. Miss Four States Fair Rodeo Queen Contract Congratulations on your win of Miss Four States Fair & Rodeo Queen Title! We are proud to have you represent this prestigious title and look forward to an exciting year! Below you will find rules and regulations as set forth by the Four States Fair Board of Directors and Rodeo Committee. Please be advised that by signing this contract you agree to the requirements below and by not fulfilling these duties your title and prizes can and will be revoked. We require you to attend at least one event a month as Queen/Teen MFSFR; in the event that there is no required event you may attend one of your choice. Frequently Asked Questions 1. Will we be required to carry a flag during horsemanship? Yes, ALL contestants will be required to carry a flag during horsemanship. Points will be deducted for contestants not able to ride and carry a flag 2. What are my requirements should I win Miss Four States Fair and Rodeo? Please refer to contract. 3. Will the contestants be required to ride only their personal horse during competition? No! The freestyle patter during horsemanship will be completed on a drawn horse provided by the committee. 4. Will the Queen/ Teen contestants be required to give a speech at the competition? Yes! All Queen/Teen contestants will be required to give a timed 2 minute speech on the topic of their choice, and they will be required to answer a personality impromptu question on stage. 5. How will the Queen and Teen impromptu questions be chosen during the competition? Queen and Teen PRCA Rodeo, Personality, and Current Event Impromptu Questions for the luncheon will be chosen by the judges and randomly drawn by the contestants. 6. Is there anything specific to study for the competition? Yes, you will need to study Four States Fair Website (www.fourstatesfair.com) PRCA Rodeo Sports Magazine, Media Guide, ProRodeo.com, Equine Science, and current events. 7. Will score sheets be given back to the Queen and Teen contestants? Yes! After the entire contest is complete copies of all contestants score sheets will be mailed back to the contestants. Judges are encouraged to write critiques on the sheets as they judge the contest. 8. Is there a mileage restriction on this contest? No! There is not a contestant mileage restriction on this contest. HORSEMANSHIP PATTERN DIRECTIONS: 1. Lead horse in the arena then mount. 2. Trot to the 2 nd marker 3. Stop and pivot L 90 degrees 4. Pick up Lope in Right ( R ) lead and 5. Lope to center of arena and begin large fast circle to the Right 6. Changing leads at Center of the arena and do a large fast circle to the Left 7. Changing leads at Center of arena again and do small, slow circle to the Right 8. At center of arena begin small slow circle to the Left but do not close it 9. 10. Begin Loping on the Right ( R ) lead, as you cross the center of the arena on a diagonal do a flying lead change onto the Left ( L ) lead, continue loping to the corner 11. Turn Right ( R ), switch to the Right lead and continue loping to the middle of the arena, then, turn Right ( R ) down the middle of the arena. 12. Stop, settle 4-5 seconds, dismount and lead horse to judge for exit interview Freestyle Guidelines The second go-round of the horsemanship competition will be an open freestyle riding completion. Contestants will have one ( 1 ) minute, thirty ( 30 ) seconds to present horsemanship skills and abilities in any pattern, design or routine they desire. A whistle announcement at one minute will signal contestants that they have thirty ( 30 ) seconds to complete their routine, including and ending with presentation ride. Each contestant must include, at least the following mandatory skills in her routine, in addition to any other freestyle moves she chooses. 1. Slide stop anywhere in the routine 2. Lead changes 3.
