SPONSORSHIP PACKAGE 2014 BUCKEYE CLASSIC Feb 14 - Feb 16

The Buckeye Classic The Buckeye Classic is the primary fund raising event for BGB Club Inc., a 501(c)(3) notfor-profit organization, founded to ensure that Buckeye s competitive gymnasts have the financial and moral support necessary to reach their maximum potential. The proceeds generated from the Buckeye Classic are used to provide scholarship funding to cover all or part of the gymnast s competition and travel expenses. The first Buckeye Classic was held in 1984 and has grown every year since its inception. The event now attracts over 2400 of the best amateur women gymnasts from around the world. The participant list from the Buckeye Classic reads like a who s who of US gymnastics: Amanda Borden, Kerri Strug, Dominique Dawes, Kim Zmeskal, Kristy Powell, Marline Stephens, Carly Patterson, Liz Tricase and many other Olympians and World Champions. The odds are high that history will continue to repeat itself and future Olympians and National Champions will be competing in this year s Buckeye Classic. The Buckeye Classic will continue to earn the right to serve as the birth place of Olympic dreams and the bragging rights to proclaim itself as one of the premier gymnastics competitions in the world. Nastia Liukin Supergirl Cup USA Gymnastics and Nastia Liukin of Parker, Texas, the 2008 Olympic all-around champion, have joined forces to provide a competitive opportunity for the country s top Junior Olympic gymnasts, the Nastia Liukin Cup. Proceeds from the Nastia Liukin Cup will go into the Nastia Liukin Fund, a charitable fund within the National Gymnastics Foundation. Since 2010, the Buckeye Classic has held the distinct honor of being one of the Nastia Liukin Supergirl Cup Qualifying meets. Each year gymnasts from the Buckeye Classic qualify to compete in Nastia Luikin Cup.

Women s Competitive Gymnastics The Sport of Gymnastics The sole governing body for the sport of gymnastics in the United States is USA Gymnastics (USAG). This designation is appointed by the U.S. Olympic Committee and the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG). USAG recognizes and sanctions seven types of competitive gymnastics in the US; Men s Artistic, Women s Artistic, Trampoline and Tumbling, Group, Rhythmic and Acrobatic. The Buckeye Classic is open an event focused exclusively on Women s Artistic Gymnastics. In this category of gymnastics Women compete in four events: Vault, Uneven Bars, Balance Beam, and Floor Exercise. In most amateur events, the gymnasts are scored on a scale of 1.0 to 10.0 based on their ability to perform a predetermined portfolio of skills. The routines performed on each event and there scores are summed together for an All-Around score. At the end of each meet, every gymnast has the opportunity to receive an award for the four individual events and the All-Around. Typically, the top three teams are also recognized for each level as the Level Champions. Dedication and Commitment Women s Artistic Gymnastics requires tremendous strength, balance, agility, flexibility, poise, determination and above all, athleticism and sportsmanship. Dedication to the sport often requires training in excess of twenty-five hours per week. Not only does gymnastics task the athletes (and the families) for a substantial time commitment. Gymnasts, like those competing at the Buckeye Classic, travel to a large proportion of their meets. This travel is both national and international encompassing all the typical expenditures of the business road worrier for them and their guardians (rental cars, airfare, hotels, and meals). The typical gymnast s family needs to find a means to cover an average of $10,000 1 per year for training and competition, plus the additional expenditures for leotards, warm-ups, camps, etc. Gymnasts are high achievers. Academically, gymnasts achieve high grades. Our sport builds successful, highly motivated people. They go to university, they work in communities, they coach and judge younger athletes, they are future mothers, business owners and dedicated employees. 1. http://gymnastics2012.ca/graphics/sponsorship%20package-email.pdf
