E-36 Data and Setting Scroing The B and D buttons are used in various modes and setting screens to scro through data on the dispay. In most cases, hoding down these buttons during a scro operation scros through the data at high speed. Timekeeping Resetting the seconds to 00 whie the current count is in the range of 30 to 59 causes the minutes to be increased by 1. In the range of 00 to 29, the seconds are reset to 00 without changing the minutes. With the 12-hour format, the P (PM) indicator appears on the dispay for times in the range of noon to 11:59 p.m. and no indicator appears for times in the range of midnight to 11:59 a.m. With the 24-hour format, times are dispayed in the range of 0:00 to 23:59, without any indicator. Once you set the date, there shoud be no reason to change it except after you have the watch s battery repaced. E-37 Stopwatch You can use ap time measurement to time how ong it takes to compete a specific portion (such as a singe ap) of a race. You can use spit time measurement to time how ong it takes to get from the start to a specific point in a race. Memory Management Each time you press B to start a new eapsed time or ap/spit operation in the Stopwatch Mode (page E-10), the watch automaticay creates a new og in its memory. The og remains open for data storage unti you permanenty cose it by pressing D to cear the stopwatch to a zeros. The watch has enough memory to hod up to 61 records. Since each og tite screen (page E-19) uses up one record of memory space, the maximum number of ap/spit time records you can store depends on how many ogs there are currenty in memory, as shown beow. E-38 Memory Capacity 61 Records Number of Logs Currenty in Memory 1 2 5 Lap/Spit Time Record Capacity 61 records 1 og tite screen = 60 61 records 2 og tite screens = 59 61 records 5 og tite screens = 56 The watch aso cacuates the cumuative tota distance for a stopwatch operations since the ast time the cumuative tota distance was reset (page E-21). The cumuative tota does not affect memory capacity. If watch memory is aready fu when you perform a stopwatch button operation that creates a new og, the odest og in memory and a of its records are deeted automaticay to make room for the new og. If you are adding records to the ony og in memory and watch memory becomes fu, adding another record causes the odest record in the og to be deeted automaticay to make room for the new record. If you are adding records to a og when there are mutipe ogs in memory and watch memory becomes fu, adding another record causes the odest og in memory and a of its records to be deeted automaticay to make room for new records. How Stopwatch Data is Stored The foowing tabe describes how data is stored when you perform the various button operations described on page E-10. Stopwatch Button Operation B Start (from a zeros) B Stop B Re-start D Lap/Spit D Cear Data Store Operation Creates a new og: current date and distance (updated as timing progresses) Time measurement stops, without storing data in memory. Time measurement re-starts, without storing data in memory. Creates new record: dispayed ap/spit times Creates new record: dispayed ap/spit times (Stopwatch dispay is ceared to a zeros.) Iumination Precautions Iumination may be hard to see when viewed under direct sunight. Iumination automaticay turns off whenever an aarm sounds. Frequent use of iumination runs down the battery. Auto ight switch precautions Wearing the watch on the inside of your wrist, movement of your arm, or vibration of your arm can cause frequent activation of the auto ight switch and iumination of the dispay. To avoid running down the battery, turn off the auto ight switch whenever engaging in activities that might cause frequent iumination of the dispay. E-40 E-41 More than 15 degrees too high Iumination may not turn on if the face of the watch is more than 15 degrees above or beow parae. Make sure that the back of your hand is parae to the ground. Iumination turns off in about one second, even if you keep the watch pointed towards your face. Static eectricity or magnetic force can interfere with proper operation of the auto ight switch. If iumination does not turn on, try moving the watch back to the starting position (parae with the ground) and then tit it back towards you again. If this does not work, drop your arm a the way down so it hangs at your side, and then bring it back up again. Under certain conditions, iumination may not turn on unti about one second after you turn the face of the watch towards you. This does not necessariy indicate mafunction of the auto ight switch. You may notice a very faint cicking sound coming from the watch when it is shaken back and forth. This sound is caused by mechanica operation of the auto ight switch, and does not indicate a probem with the watch.
