2 Rep Tryut Prcedure Guidelines 1. Intrductin: 1.1. The intent f this Rep Tryut Prcedure Guidelines dcument is t prvide an verview and prcess that will be fllwed fr the selectin f all AMHA Rep teams. There are ften variables that can t all be accunted fr and at times, decisins may need t be made based n ratinales that prvide fairness nt nly t the individual player, but t thse players that he/she is cmpeting against. 2. Rep Tryut Objectives: 2.1. AMHA wuld like t assess each player wishing t play at a higher level, n their skills and abilities at the time f evaluatin in a fair and transparent manner. 2.2. Rep Tryuts are brken int three phases: 2.2.1. Phase 1 - Rep Tryut Phase 2.2.2. Phase 2 - Intersquad Phase 2.2.3. Phase 3 - Rund Rbin Turnament Phase 3. Purpse f Player Evaluatin and Selectin: 3.1. This Rep Prcedure Guideline dcument is a guideline and prcedure manual, written in the best interest f ur whle assciatin. It is intended t represent the utline f what the Bard f Directrs, and Hckey Operatins feel is best fr ur children and the prgram we have built t serve these children. 3.2. This prcedure dcument is built n the auspice f cmmn sense when interpreting. Mst questins yu may have can be answered by yur Divisin Crdinatr r Divisin Directr. Please refer t u r website fr the latest updates. 4. Objectives f Player Evaluatin: 4.1. T prvide a fair and impartial assessment f a player's hckey skills during the skating and scrimmage sessins. 4.2. T ensure that players have a reasnable pprtunity f being selected t a team apprpriate t their skill levels as determined during the n-ice evaluatins f the current year. 4.3. T prvide caches with the pprtunity and flexibility t build a team based in part n their wn caching philsphy and knwledge f player skills and attitude. Date Revised - June 2017 Versin 1.0

T prvide unifrmity and cnsistency in the evaluatin prcess such that a player and parent expectatins are cnsistent frm year t year as players mve thrugh the varius levels f the assciatin's prgrams. 4.5. T frm teams t maintain balanced and cmpetitive play where the athletes can develp and participate equitably and have fun playing hckey during the seasn. 4.6. T be able t prvide feedback in rder t develp players. 5. Evaluatin Team 5.1. The Evaluatin Team will cnsist f Independent Evaluatrs and select cach applicants and/r appinted nn-parent Head Caches. 5.2. The Evaluatin Team will be chaired by the Hckey Directr, and verseen by the Executive Cmmittee. 6. Evaluatr Prcedures: 6.1. N Directr r executive member will be privy t the results f evaluatins frm their child s divisin. 6.2. Players will be assigned 2 jerseys n Day 1 with a designated number fr the duratin f tryuts. 6.3. The n ice cmbine testing will be the n ice skills evaluatin. 6.4. The Hckey Directr will determine any and all evaluatin tls used by the evaluatrs. 7. Evaluatin Prcess Skaters Overview: 7.1. Players will be placed in Skills Testing grups. Grups will be created based n alphabetical rder using the player s last name. 7.2. Day 1 Skills based Cmbine Testing fr all divisins. 7.3. Days 2-4 game based evaluatin fr all divisins 7.4. Based n the individual player rankings frm the Cmbine Testing players will be placed int A r B skill grups fr game play evaluatin. 7.5. Player mvement will ccur between A & B skill grups fr Game 2 based n Game 1 evaluatins. (all divisins) 7.6. Sme players may nt play the 3rd evaluatin game based n being a tp ranking player at this stage f the prcess. 7.7. Atm players will be evaluated primarily n skill level and ability, but cnsideratin can r will be given t preferred psitins. 7.8. See Appendix 1 fr evaluatin criteria pertaining t all divisins. 7.9. 4 Divisins with 3 Rep Teams (8 Galies) A1-20 players, 3 galies A2-17 players, 2 galies A3-15 players, 3 galies Divisins with 4 Rep Teams (10 Galies) A1-20 players, 3 galies A2-17 players, 2 galies A3-15 players, 2 galies A4-13 players, 3 galies 7.10. If a Divisin nly has 2 Rep Teams, numbers will be determined at that time. 7.11. Pls will be psted t the AMHA website. **see release sectin fr mre details. 7.12. Once pls are frmed players will reprt t their practice team and a practice will be held prir t the Rund Rbin turnament games. (N Independent Evaluatrs Present) 7.13. Players may be asked t play a psitin that they have nt tried ut fr. Cnsent must be prvided by the parents and player if this becmes a pssible slutin fr the betterment f the player and team. 7.14. All divisins will participate in the Rund Rbin Turnament games. AMHA will prvide independent evaluatrs t each rund rbin game fr evaluatin purpses. Schedule and lcatin fr each divisin t be psted n the AMHA website. 7.15. At the discretin f the Hckey Directr, Caches and the Independent Evaluatr players may sit ut t better assis t the evaluatin prcess during Rund Rbin games. 7.16. Ging int evaluatin games (rund rbin), t here must be a minimum f 15 players and 1 galie frm first year. 7.17. Releases will be psted n the AMHA website fllw ing the Rund Rbin turnament games ** see release sectin fr mre infrmatin. 7.18. Midget teams have certain exclusins due t the hld fee and players cming back t AMHA. 8. Evaluatin Prcess Galies Overview: 8.1. During galie evaluatins an n-ice Instructr will direct galies thrugh a number f drills as well as the galies will be participating in the cmbine testing. Evaluatins will be cmpleted by an Independent galie evaluatr. 8.2. Based n the n ice cmbine testing and the n ice skill sessin run by the independent evaluatrs, releases will be made t a maximum f 12 galies fr 3 & 4 team divisins. 5 8.3. Galies released after this phase will receive a $75.00 refund f their Rep Tryut Fee. 8.4. Galies mving frward will be assigned t the A r B skill grups and will participate in the inter-squad Game #1. Depending n the number f galies trying ut in a specific divisin, a rtatin will be created t ensure playing time is as even as it can be fr the evaluatin games. 8.5. 2nd stage f galie releases will happen after Game #1. Releases will be made t 8 galies fr a three team divisin & 10 galies fr a 4 team divisin. 8.6. Galies released after this phase will receive a $50.00 refund f their Rep Tryut Fee. 8.7. Galies may be mved between the A and B skill grups after Games 1 & 2. N releases will be made after Day 4, Game #3. 8.8. Galies will be assigned t A1/ A2/ A3 r A4 grups t participate in the practice and the rund rbin. 8.9. An Independent evaluatr will be invlved in the rund rbin evaluatins fr the players and galies thrughut the turnament weekend. 8.10. Final galie releases will be made after the rund rbin turnament. 9. Final Team Selectin 9.1. At cnclusin f the Rund Rbin games, final divisin selectin will be made by assigned independent evaluatr(s), all nn-parent Head Cach(s), in cnsultatin with the Hckey Directr. 10. Releases 10.1. Releases up t the Rund Rbin Turnament 10.1.1. After Game 1, players will be released dwn t 60 fr a 3 team divisin and 70 fr a 4 team divisin. Thse mving frward will be psted n the AMHA website. 10.1.2. After Game 3, players will be released dwn t 52 fr a 3 team divisin and 65 fr a 4 team divisin. Thse mving frward will be psted n the AMHA website. 10.1.3. Players released after Game 1 will receive a $75.00 refund f their Rep Tryut Fee. 10.1.4. Players need t check the website daily thrughut the tryut prcess as there will be changes made in the grups. 10.1.5. Players nt advancing in the rep tryut prcess will be cntacted by the crdinatr fr the divisin with instructins n hw t prceed with the C evaluatin prcess. 10.1.6. Players may be mved up r dwn nce assigned t a team after the Inter-squad Games. Player mvement is nt cnsidered a release it is fr evaluatin purpses t determine the best pssible team placements. 10.2. Releases after Rbin Rbin Turnament 10.2.1. After the rund rbin games, the evaluatin team and caches in each divisin will make further releases t 15 skaters and 2 galies per team. 6 Midget divisin and Bantam A1 may keep additinal skaters upn the apprval f the Hckey Directr. 10.2.2. The releases will be determined thrugh discussin and cnsultatins with the independent evaluatrs, Divisin Directrs and caches. In the event that there is a cnflict f interest present, the President reserves the right t appint an alternate. 10.2.3. Thse being released t the C divisin will participate in the C evaluatin/balancing games. Players need t refer t the AMHA website fr further infrmatin n times and arenas. 10.2.4. After Midget evaluatins are cmplete, Junir and Majr Midget releases will return t A1 and be seen in a practice and game t determine placement. These players may r may nt remain with the A1 team after the initial evaluatin. 10.2.5. Feedback night will be prvided fr thse wh wuld like t have the pprtunity t r eceive feedback n the tryut prcess. The player must be in attendance fr this meeting. See website fr mre details regarding this during the tryuts. 11. Cach Assignments 11.1. The Bard f Directrs has the authrity t hire nn-parent, paid caches at the Rep Level where they see fit, and as part f the cach selectin prcess the AMHA fllws each year. 11.2. Parent caches will be assigned t their teams when the timing is apprpriate. 12. Injuries and Sickness: 12.1. Injuries sustained prir t Rep Tryuts 12.1.1. Medical excuses must have a dctr s nte t excuse fr legitimate reasns (fr example - brken arm r leg) prir t rep tryuts cmmencing fr that divisin. 12.1.2. If the player is cntagius sick d nt cme t the arena! The parent must still prvide a medical nte prir t ice time. 12.1.3. All medical ntes excusing player frm tryuts needs t be submitted directly t the Divisin Directr. 12.1.4. If the injury is substantial, and the player is unable t return fr a perid f time, they will be guaranteed an evaluatin. 12.1.5. Players returning frm injury r illness sustained prir t tryuts and returning befre final releases will return t the level they played the previus seasn if returning t the same divisin, if they are returning up a divisin they will start ne level dwn, example PW A1 player will start at Bantam A2. Any players returning after final releases will be treated as lng term injury returns. 12.2. Injuries sustained r sickness during Rep Tryuts - (i.e. Shrt Term Injury) 12.2.1. All injuries that ccur during Rep tryuts while at the arena, need t be reprted and recrded using Hckey Canada s Medical reprt frm. Date Revised - June 2017 Versin 1.0
7 AMHA will prvide the frms and cmplete the details, but it is a player s respnsibility t ensure that injuries sustained as a result f the tryut are reprted. 12.2.2. All injuries that prevent a player frm cntinuing in the evaluatin tryut, needs t seek medical attentin and a Dctr s nte needs t be prvided t the Administratr indicating the nature f the injury, as well as that player s ability t cntinue n the ice. 12.2.3. If a player cannt cntinue n the ice as per dctr s instructins, a Dctr s nte will be required that clears that player t return t the ice when ready. 12.2.4. The Hckey Directr will take nte f all evaluatins cmpleted up t the pint f injury, and when that player returns, shall be placed at a level indicated by the evaluatin ntes as cmpared t the players cmpeting against at the time f injury. 12.2.5. If the player is ill r injured prir t cmpleting the cmbine testing and at least tw games, the player will start the prcess at the level f the previus year, r if mving up a divisin ne level lwer (see last bullet in sectin 5.01) 12.2.6. Fr players leaving at any pint during rep tryuts due t injury r illness and returning prir t lng term injury status will be placed n a team based n their evaluatins t that pint. 12.3. Injuries Sustained during Rep Tryuts (i.e. Lng Term Injury) 12.3.1. The player will be given at least ne practice and ne game befre an evaluatin by an independent evaluatr be dne. 12.3.2. The player will begin trying ut n the team he left during the evaluatin prcess, r fllw the same rule as abve if mving up a divisin. 12.3.3. Wherever the player ends up, the weakest player (evaluated by same independent) will mve dwn t the team belw and s n until we get t the C divisin. 12.3.4. The cach will nt have an ptin f keeping bth players as this has an impact n the C divisin. 12.4. N Shw r Unapprved Absence during Tryut Prcess 12.4.1. Players wh d nt shw up fr an evaluatin sessin r are late fr the sessin start time withut ntifying the divisin directr, will receive the lwest pssible scre available fr that sessin evaluatin. 13. Appeals: 13.1. All appeals must be submitted by using the Appeal Applicatin Frm which can be submitted via AMHA website. 13.2. Appeals must be received within 48 hurs f the release. 13.3. $60 cash must accmpany the applicatin frm If the appeal is wn, the $60 fee will be returned If the appeal is lst, the $60 fee will becme nn-refundable Date Revised - June 2017 Versin 1.0
8 Appeals will nly be cnsidered based n plicy nt being fllwed. Appeals will be reviewed and will cnsist f an interview with the appealer alng with 2-4 peple frm the appeal panel, including but nt limited t, independent evaluatrs, Hckey Directr, Divisin head cach, Divisin directr and 1st VP.
