December/January Moose Roundup 5 Moose Legion Jeff Kindermann, Chair Rod & Gun Club Brendan Kenny, President Schedule of Activities December 2 Christmas Breakfast & Meeting, 9 a.m. January 6 Breakfast & Meeting, 9 a.m. January 27 MECCA 9 Awards Dinner, St. Charles Lodge, 5 p.m. February 10 Conferral, Plainfield Lodge, 1 p.m. The holidays are approaching and the end to another year is right around the corner. As this calendar year comes to an end, I would like to look back at the past year and thank Don Kubilius for his many years of service as Moose Legion Chairman. I would like to thank all the people who prepare the breakfast and the men and women who attend our meetings. Without your commitment, the Legion would not be what it is. It s been a truly great year for me, and I look forward to working with current and future Legion members, as we continue our commitment and service to the Legion s mission. The mission is to support the children of Mooseheart and the seniors at Moosehaven. This past year our Legion unit was able to contribute money towards the purchase of passenger vans for Mooseheart and to support the scholarship fund project. The unit also contributed to the Moose Endowment fund, which basically is an insurance policy to make certain there is always a Mooseheart for any child who has the need. The Moose Legion is always looking for individuals who would like to expand or provide greater service to the children of Mooseheart and our seniors at Moosehaven. If you are interested in the Legion mission, the requirements to join are (1) hold active Lodge membership for a minimum period of six months and (2) sponsor one member in good standing into the order. The application fee to join the Moose Legion is $10 and the yearly dues are $17. Anyone interested in learning more about the Moose Legion, see Jeff Kindermann or any Moose Legion member. It s Time to Re fuel Our Moose Legion Membership Tank. Any Moose Legionnaire who signs a new member will have his name entered into a drawing to win a $50 gas card. The Moose Legion meets the first Sunday of every month at 9 a.m. upstairs at the Lodge. Breakfast is served at 9:30 a.m. followed by a meeting at 10 a.m. Our next meeting will be December 2. I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year, and again thanks for your continued service. As always, try to do something good for someone each day. Christmas is almost here again, and with it comes our annual Rod & Gun Christmas Party on December 19. Cocktails are at 6:30 p.m. and dinner at 7:30 p.m. All Rod & Gun Club members and their spouses are invited. Please bring a side dish or dessert. Tear offs will be available at the meetings. The contest will be decided at the second February meeting. The annual Rod & Gun Club Chili Cookoff is scheduled for Sunday, January 27. The peppers will be hot, and the competition fierce. See Rich Murrow or Evan Fitzgerald for more information. Because of the Bag s League, our Social Quarters has been improved greatly. Four members stepped up and made a major plumbing repair for our Lodge.
