Hazards Identification Emergency Overview: Odorless, colorless, non-flammable gas. Simple Asphyxiant This product does not contain oxygen and may cause asphyxia if released in a confined area. Maintain oxygen levels above 19.5%. Contents under pressure. Use and store below 125 O F, (52 O C). Route of Entry: Skin Contact Skin Absorption Eye contact Inhalation Yes Ingestion Health Effects: Exposure Limits Teratogen Synergistic Effects: ne Reported Irritant Reproductive Hazard Sensitization Mutagen Carcinogenicity: NTP: IARC: OSHA:

Hazards Identification Continued Eye Effects: ne anticipated. Contact with rapidly expanding gas near the point of release may cause frostbite. Material Safety Data Sheet # 1006, Argon Gas, Page 2 of 5 Skin Effects: Contact with rapidly expanding gas near the point of release may cause frostbite with redness, skin color change to gray or white and blistering. Ingestion Effects: Ingestion is unlikely. Inhalation Effects: Product is a simple asphyxiant. This product may displace oxygen if released in a confined space. Maintain oxygen levels above 19.5% at sea level to prevent asphyxiation. Effects of oxygen deficiency resulting from simple asphyxiants may include: rapid breathing, diminished mental alertness, impaired muscular coordination, faulty judgment, depression of all sensations, emotional instability and fatigue. As asphyxiation progresses, nausea, vomiting, prostration and loss of consciousness may result, eventually leading to convulsions, coma and death. Oxygen deficiency during pregnancy has produced developmental abnormalities in humans and experimental animals. Medical Conditions Aggravated by Exposure: ne known. Potential Environmental Effects: t expected to be toxic to fish and wildlife. NFPA Hazard Codes HMIS Hazard Codes Ratings System Health: 0 Health: 0 0 = Hazard Flammability: 0 Flammability: 0 1 = Slight Hazard Instability: 0 Physical Hazard: 3 2 = Moderate Hazard 3 = Serious Hazard 4 = Severe Hazard Hazard codes based on recommendations contained in CGA P-19 2004, CGA Recommended Hazard Ratings for Compressed Gases. First Aid Measures Eyes: ne required for gas. If frostbite is suspected, flush eyes with cool water for 15 minutes and obtain immediate medical attention. Skin: ne required for gas. For frostbite, immerse skin in lukewarm water. DO NOT USE HOT WATER. Obtain medical attention. Ingestion: Ingestion is unlikely as product is a gas at room temperature. Inhalation: PROMPT MEDICAL ATTENTION IS MANDATORY IN ALL CASES OF OVEREXPOSURE TO PRODUCT. RESCUE PERSONNEL SHOULD BE EQUIPED WITH SELF-CONTAINED BREATHING APPARATUS. Conscious persons should be assisted to an uncontaminated area and inhale fresh air. Quick removal from the contaminated area is most important. Unconscious persons should be moved to an uncontaminated area, given assisted (artificial) respiration and supplemental oxygen. Further treatment should be symptomatic and supportive.

Fire Fighting Measures Material Safety Data Sheet # 1006, Argon Gas, Page 3 of 5 Conditions of Flammability: nflammable Flash point: ne LEL (%): ne Hazardous combustion products: ne Sensitivity to mechanical shock: ne Sensitivity to static discharge: ne Method: t Applicable UEL (%): ne Autoignition Temperature: ne Fire and Explosion Hazards: nflammable. Cylinders may rupture violently or vent rapidly from pressure when involved in a fire situation. Extinguishing Media: ne required. Use as appropriate for surrounding materials Fire Fighting Instructions: Firefighters should wear respiratory protection (SCBA) and full turnout or Bunker gear. Continue to cool fire-exposed cylinders until well after flames are extinguished. Accidental Release Measures Evacuate all personnel from affected area. Use appropriate protective equipment. Ventilate enclosed areas. If leak is in user s equipment, be certain to purge piping with inert gas prior to attempting repairs. If leak is in container or container valve contact the appropriate emergency telephone number listed in Section 1 or call your closest rco/rlab location. Electrical Classification: n-hazardous Handling and Storage Use only in well-ventilated areas. Valve protection caps must remain in place unless container is secured with valve outlet piped to use point. Do not drag, slide or roll cylinders. Use a suitable hand truck for cylinder movement. Use a pressure regulator when connecting cylinder to lower pressure piping or systems. Do not heat cylinder by any means to increase the discharge rate of product from the cylinder. Use a check valve or trap in the discharge line to prevent hazardous back flow into the cylinder. Protect cylinders from physical damage. Store in cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from heavy traffic areas and emergency exits. Do not allow the temperature where cylinders are stored to exceed 125 O F (52 O C). Cylinders should be stored upright and firmly secured to prevent falling or being knocked over. Full and empty cylinders should be segregated. Use a first in-first out inventory system to prevent full cylinders from being stored for excessive periods of time. For additional recommendations consult Compressed Gas Association Pamphlet P-1 and Safety Bulletin SB-2. Never carry a compressed gas cylinder or a container of a gas in cryogenic liquid form in an enclosed space such as a car trunk, van or station wagon. A leak can result in a fire, explosion, asphyxiation or a toxic exposure. Exposure Controls, Personal Protection Engineering Controls: Use local exhaust in combination with general ventilation as necessary to prevent accumulation of high concentrations and maintain air oxygen levels at or above 19.5%. Eye/Face Protection: Safety goggles or glasses. Skin Protection: Protective gloves of suitable material.

Exposure Controls, Personal Protection Continued Material Safety Data Sheet # 1006, Argon Gas, Page 4 of 5 Respiratory Protection: For emergency release use a positive pressure NIOSH approved air-supplying respirator system (SCBA or airline/escape bottle) using at a minimum Grade D air. Other/General Protection: Safety shoes, emergency eyewash station.
