Sports Camps Descriptions BOYS BASKETBALL CAMPS The harder you work, the harder it is to surrender. -Vince Lombardi Help prepare your athlete for a successful basketball season with Geneva varsity boys basketball head coach Aaron Southwick. Coach Southwick has coached basketball in some capacity at Geneva for the past 8 years and brings a wealth of knowledge about the game. Coach Southwick will be assisted by Geneva varsity girls head coach Eric Boerboom. Coach Boerboom has coached at the college and high school level for 9 years, this will be Coach Boer booms third year at Geneva. Skills Covered: Dribbling, Ball Handling, Footwork, Shooting, Defense, Rebounding, Passing, Team Defense, Team Offense and More! All basketball camps will be held in Geneva s Competition Gym. Camp registration does not include lunch. Each camp will be limited to 40 participants. Questions may be directed to Aaron Southwick at 510-703-2146 FOOTBALL CAMPS Help prepare your athlete for a successful football season with Geneva coaches Dean Herbort and Nick Champion. Coach Herbort led Genevas first 11-man high school football team to an undefeated 10-0 season and looks for his team to make a big impact as they enter their first year competing in 11-man in TAPPS. Coach Champion returns as the defensive coordinator for Geneva. His defense played an important role in the first year success of the 11-man program. Typical practice consists of active warm-ups, competition drills, position specific drills, & flag football scrimmage. The football camp will be held at Geneva's football field or the MPB if it is too hot. Each camp will be limited to 50 participants. If you have questions about the football camps, please call Nick Champion at 210-391-8446 GS CHEER CLINIC Enjoy a fun-filled afternoon as your daughter learns all the standard Geneva cheers and chants. Cheer coach Amber Jonas and the Geneva varsity cheerleaders will teach the girls all the basics needed to some day cheer at Geneva. Sports Camps Descriptions SOCCER CAMPS Help prepare your athlete for a successful soccer season with instruction from Geneva varsity head coach Marty Morris. Coach Morris will start his 4th year with Geneva Soccer and has coached for many years at the club level. Skills Covered: Dribbling, Shooting, Juggling, Heading and Defending in the form of small sided games and activities. Both soccer camps will be held at Geneva on the soccer field or the baseball outfield. Camps are open to both boys and girls and players will need to bring a soccer ball, shin guards and a water bottle. The number of participants in each camp will be limited to 50. Questions about the camps may be directed to Marty Morris at 847-567-7099. GIRLS BASKETBALL/VOLLEYBALL CAMP Head Varsity Girls Volleyball Coach Jessica Tully-Mitchell and Head Varsity Girls Basketball coach Eric Boerboom look forward to teaming up to offer a combined Volleyball/Basketball camp. Coach Tully-Mitchell has extensive experience in basketball while Coach Boerboom has also spent some time coaching volleyball at the LS level. Both coaches are looking to bring unity and strength to their respective programs by encouraging dual participation. Campers have the option to select volleyball or basketball only but will receive a sizable discount if they choose to sign up for both camps. Camp will be offered Monday Thursday with the volleyball portion running 10-12PM and basketball 12:30-2:30PM. Participation will be limited to 40 and will be held in the competition gym on the campus of Geneva. Camp does not include a lunch so be sure to pack a lunch if you will be attending both camps. STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING / SPORT SPECIFIC TRAINING High school coaches at Geneva offer strength and conditioning and individual sport specific training for a nominal fee. Coaches determine the time and frequency of these workouts, however they are usually held in the morning hours. Coaches typically offer about an hour of skills training with and hour of strength and conditioning. This is available to incoming LS and RS students. Information about the high school training hours will be sent out by the varsity head coaches at the conclusion of sports registration for the 2016-2017 seasons. The cost will be $50 per student for the whole summer. SOFTBALL CLINICS Varsity Softball coach Nick Champion plans to hold occasional clinics. Sports Camps Registration RELEASE TO PARTICIPATE I give consent for my child to participate in Geneva School of Boerne approved activities. I understand that by participating in physical education and athletics activities at the Geneva School of Boerne that my child will be exposed to the risk of serious injury, including, but not limited to injuries such as sprains or fractures, and injuries that could result in brain damage, paralysis, or even death.
