University Games Committee A.M.U. Aligarh Development Activities 2010-11 1. The construction of Hockey Astro Turf costing Rs: 3.90 crores will commence soon. Funds have been released to CPWD by sports authority of India and process of tender has been completed. The Laying of hockey Astro Turf will be the biggest infrastructure Development in last several decades and AMU will be the Hockey center of the region. 2. Construction of Indoor Hall for Badminton and Table Tennis is in full Swing and will be completed soon. 3. Roller Skating Rink has been fully renovated and new lights have been installed. 4. Clay Courts for Tennis have been added to the 14 existing Grass Courts 6 feet fencing has been installed on hard court and proposal for Synthetic Court has been submitted. 5. Proposal for New Open Swimming Pool has been submitted to UGC and positive response is expected soon. 6. New equipment has been purchased for the Gymnasium Club. Games Committee, AMU Annual Report

Besides the routine activities, like participation in North Zone and All India Intervarsity and other tournaments, in various games by the teams of the University Games Committee, the following are some of the achievements during the session. 1. Organized North Zone Interuniversity Tennis (Men) Tournament from 27th November 2010 to 2nd December 2010. 24 Universities team send their entry while 14 teams participated in this tournament. AMU Tennis team won the championship after defeating Punjab University team in final. University of Delhi and Kurukshetra University were on third & fourth place respectively. These four team including AMU qualified for All India Intervarsity Tennis Tournament which was held at BHU Varanasi in February 2011. 2. The Badminton (Men) team qualified for All India Tournaments as finalists of North Zone. The AMU team is qualifying for All India Intervarsity consecutively since three years. 3. Mr. Anurag Sharma, member of AMU badminton club was (1) Winner in Senior U.P. State Badminton Championship (Singles) held in August 2010. (2) Winner in Second Senior Major Ranking Tournament held at Jhansi in November 2010. (3) Runner s up in East Zone Badminton Tournament (Doubles) held at Jamshedpur (Jharkhand) in the month of October 2010. (4) Represented AMU Badminton team in North Zone and Qualified for All India Intervarsity 2010 held at Vijaywada. 4. Mr. Rasheed Misbah Ansari a member of AMU badminton club was (1) Winner in Senior U.P. State Badminton Championship (Doubles) held in August 2010. (2) Represented AMU Badminton team in North Zone and Qualified for All India Intervarsity 2010 held at Vijaywada 5. Mr. Saurav Agrawal member of AMU badminton club was (1) Winner in doubles title in Senior State Badminton Championship held in August 2010. (2) Winner in Lucknow Zone Badminton Championship held at Plibhit in July 2010 (3) Runner s up in East Zone Badminton Tournament Doubles) held at Jamshedpur (Jharkhand) in the month of October 2010. (4) Runner s up in Second Senior Major Ranking Tournament held at Jhansi in November 2010.(5) Represented AMU Badminton team in North Zone and Qualified for All India Intervarsity 2010 held at Vijaywada 6. Mr. Faisal Ali, member of AMU Table Tennis club was (1) Runner-up in 3rd UP State Table Tennis Ranking Championship (Junior Group) held at Lucknow in November 2010. (2) Winner in 3rd UP State Table Tennis Ranking Championship (Youth Group) held at Lucknow in November 2010. (3) Runners-up (Junior Group) in UP State Championship

held at Varanasi in December 2010. (4) Represented UP T.T. team in National Table Tennis Championship held at Ahmadabad (Gujarat) February 2011. 7. Mr. Imtiyaz Ahmad AMU Cricket Captain represented UP in Ranji Trophy for 3rd consecutive year. Mr. Imtiyaz Ahmad also selected in Pune Warriors cricket team to represent in DLF I.P.L. (India Premier League) in May 2011. 8. Mr. Danish Ali, member of AMU Cricket Club Represented Indian Railways Cricket team under 22. 9. Mr. Tahmeed Ahmad member of AMU Cricket club represented Indian Railways Cricket team under 19 10. Two members of AMU Hiking & Mountaineering Club Mr. Suhail Ahmad and Mr. Mohd Hassan selected in XIX Common Wealth Games-Delhi 2010 as Volunteers. 11. Mr. Saim Farooqui, Mr. Mohd Nasir, Mr. Lakshit Sood, Mr. Chandril Sood, and Mr. Sunil Chaudhary, were the winner of North Zone Intervarsity Tennis Tournament and represented the AMU Tennis Team in All India Intervarsity Tennis Tournament held at BHU Varanasi in Feb 2011 12. Mr. Lakshit Sood and Mr. Chandril Sood achieved National Ranking in doubles. 13. Mr. Aamir Khan, Mr. Anoop Kumar, Mr. Mohd Faizan, Mr. Atif Hasan, Mr. Mohd Shadab, Mr. Mohd Adnan Khan, Mr. Mohd Mohsin Khan, Mr. Momin Pal, Mr. Shariq Vali Khan, Mr. Ramiz Khan & Mr. Umar Sherwani members of AMU Skating club represented UP State Skating team in 48th National Roller Skating Championship held at Vishakapatnam (AP) organized by Roller Skating Federation of India. 14. Mr. Mohd Anas Raushan, Captain of AMU Riding Club selected in Republic Day/NCC Day Riding Camp held at Lucknow/Delhi and representing UP State NCC in team Riding Competition on the occasion of Republic Day. 15. The AMU Riding team consisting M. Anas Raushan, Mohd Umair Khan Sherwani, Amir Ayaz Khan, Zainus Salikin Siddiqui, Talha Anees, Bilal Ahmad Siddiqui participated in Delhi Horse Show from 29.03.2011 to 11.04.2011 along with Six horses. Mr. Mohd Anas Raushan secured bronze and Mr. Mohd Umair Khan Sherwani secured Silver Medal in APRC Individual Tent Pegging event. 16. 122nd Annual Riding Show was organized on 16th March 2011 and was a grand success and witnessed by a large gathering. Prof. P.K. Azis, Vice-Chancellor, AMU was Chief

Guest. Former Riders, former captains of Riding Club and Alumni also attended the show. 17. University teams participated in All India and North Zone Intervarsity tournaments in Athletic, Cricket, Football, Hockey, Riding, Swimming, Lawn Tennis, Mountaineering, Basketball, Volleyball, Badminton, Table Tennis, Body Building, Wt. Lifting, Wrestling, Skating and Power Lifting. 18. Inter Hall Tournaments were organized in all Games and large number of students participated in these tournaments. 19. The Games Committee also organized Inter School Tournaments as well as summer and Winter Coaching Camps for University students and Schools in all Games and large number of students participated in the same. 20. Vice-Chancellor Prof. P. K. Abdul Azis is taking keen interest in development of Games and Sports and under his able guidance all clubs of Games Committee are very active and vibrant. All efforts are being made to involve maximum no of student in various sports activities. 21. All efforts are being made to involve female students in Games and Sports and give them equal opportunities. Girls are actively participating in Horse Riding, Swimming, Athletics, Basketball, Volleyball, Badminton, Table Tennis, Lawn Tennis, Cricket and Gymnasium. Athletics Club 1 The AMU Athletic team participated in the All India Inter University Athletic Meet from 27th December 2010 to 05th January 2011 organized by Acharya Nagarjuna

University, Guntur (A.P.) 28 Students of AMU including 5 female students participated in this Intervarsity Meet. 2 Mr. Gauhar Khan participated in 200 Meters event and qualified for second round. Mr. S. M. Ayyub, participated in Javelin Throw and qualified for the final round. Over all performance of the team was satisfactory. 3 The Athletics Club organized Annual Inter Hall Athletic Meet on 22nd February 2011 in which about 250 male & female Athletes of AMU participated in different events. Cricket Club 1 Mr. Imtiyaz Ahmad AMU Cricket Captain represented UP in Ranji Trophy for 3rd consecutive year. Mr. Imtiyaz Ahmad was also selected in Pune Warriors cricket team to play in IPL

The team reached the third round. 5 The women s cricket team participated in the North East Zone Intervarsity Cricket Tournament 2010-11 organized by V. B. S. Purvanchal University Jaunpur (UP) from 24.11.2010 to 05.12.2010. 6 The Cricket Club won the Sir Syed Memorial Open Cricket U-19 Tournament defeating Hamza Cricket Club Academy in final organized by Cricket Club, University Games Committee, A.M.U. Aligarh from 7 The AMU Cricket Club won Sir Syed Memorial Open District Cricket Club Tournament. In Final AMU Cricket club defeated Jodon Riders. The tournament was organized by Cricket Club, University Games Committee, AMU. 8 The Cricket Club organized the Interhall Cricket tournament for the session 2010-11. in which MM Hall defeated SS Hall (North) in the Final. 9 The Cricket Club organized the Inter School cricket tournament on the occasion of the Republic Day Celebration from 25 th to 29 th January 2011. AMU City High School won the tournament defeating Ayesha Tarrin Modern Public School in the final. 10 The AMU Cricket Club organized Inter faculty Cricket tournament (Teaching staff) in February 2011. In Final Combined Faculty won the Title after defeating Medicine Faculty. 11 Organized Sir Syed Memorial Cricket Tournament in February 2011. 12 Organized Summer Coaching Camp for School boys which was a grand success. Football Club 1 Football team participated in North Zone Intervarsity Football tournament held at CCSU Meerut from 25th October to 2 November 2010.

2 Inter Hall Football Tournament was held from 11th February 2011, in which 18 Halls and School teams participated and NRSC and SS (South) Hall reached the final. NRSC won by 2-0 in the final match. 4 Invitational Inter School Football Tournament was organized by the Football Club on the occasion of Independence Day from 4th to 10th August 2010. 18 School Football teams participated and SSSC (10+2) Boys & Al-Barkaat Public School played final match of the Tournament in which SSSC AMU won on Penalty Tie Break. 5 AMU Football team participated in State Level Football Championship, organized by Khurja Sports Association at NREC College Khurja from 27.01.2011 to 01.02.2011. The AMU team in reached the final after defeating, Saharanpur, Bulandshahar and Meerut Football team. The team lost by 2-0 in final match against Khurja Sporting Club. 6 Mr. Sanjay Kumar was selected in UP Under -21 Football Camp at Banaras in September 2010. 7 Mr. Tarique Aziz member of AMU Football club participated in Kolkata Football League as a member of Kalighat Milan Sangha (Kolkata) in May 2010 8 AMU Football team participated in Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Football tournament held at Ahiliyabi Holkar Stadium Aligarh and secured second position in the tournament in January 2011. 9 The regular practice of Football Club is going on throughout the year and large numbers of students play soccer everyday. 10 Organized Summer Coaching Camp in which about 200 students and school boys participated. Wrestling Club 1 The AMU Wrestling team participated in the All India Inter University Wrestling (Men) Championship organized by University of Rajasthan, Jaipur from 28.10.2011 to 02.11.2010. The Wrestling team participated in different weight categories.

2 This year club organized Inter Hall Wrestling Championship as well as the Open Challenge competition on 07.03.2011. Mr. Brijesh Yadav of R.M. hall and Mr. Irshad Ali of SS North was Winner and Runner in Open Championship respectively. 3 Mr. Mohd Chand (Mohd Habib Hall) and Mr. Vishnu Prashad (NRSC) were Winner and Runner in 50 Kg category respectively. Mr. Danish Farooqui (VM Hall) and Mr. Lal Miyan (M Habib Hall) were winner and runner in 55 Kg category respectively. Mr. Salauddin (Aftab Hal) and Mr. Satyaveer Singh (MM Hall) were winner and runner in 60 Kg category respectively. Mr. Irshad Ali (S S Hall North) and Mr. Akiv Khan (S S Hall Nortj) were winner and runner in 66 Kg category respectively. Mr. Brijesh Yadav (RM Hall) and Mr. Sarwar Khan (SS Hall North) were winner and runner in 47 Kg category respectively. Mr. Faraz Khan (NRSC) and Mr. Mazaruddin (NRSC) were winner and runner in 84 Kg category respectively. Skating Club 1 Mr. Aamir Khan, Mr. Anoop Kumar, Mr. Mohd Faizan, Mr. Atif Hasan, Mr. Mohd Shadab, Mr. Mohd Adnan Khan, Mr. Mohd Mohsin Khan, Mr. Momin Pal, Mr. Shariq Vali Khan, Mr. Ramiz Khan & Mr. Umar Sherwani, members of AMU Skating club represented UP State Skating team in 48th National Roller Skating Championship held at Vishakapatnam (AP) organized by Roller Skating Federation of India from 04 to 14 January 2011.

2 Participated in the All India Invitational Roller Skating Championship to be organized by Roller Skating Association of Uttarakhand from 21 to 25 October 2010 at Mussoorie. 3 Inter Hall Roller Hockey tournament was held from 20 to 21 February 2011. Roller Hockey teams of various hall participated for first time in InterHall Roller Hockey Tournament. NRSC was winner, SS Hall and Sir Sulaiman Hall finished second and third respectively. 4 Students of various halls and Schools also participated in various skating events i.e. Rink Race-1, Rink Race-2 and Road Race. 5 Organized Summer Coaching Camp for University students and school boys. Physical Culture Club 1. The University Power-Lifting and Best Physique (Men) teams participated in the All India Weight-Lifting, Power-Lifting and Best Physique (Men) Championship held at Kannur University., from 07.11.2010 to 16.11.2010. 2. Organized Inter Hall Power-Lifting and Best Physique competition on 07.03.2011, following were results and the positions holders in various weight categories. The team participated in the All India Intervarsity Badminton (Men) Tournament 2010-11 organized by Dr. N.T.R. Health University, Vijayawada From 30.10.2010 to 06.11.2010. 2. The AMU Badminton (Women) team participated in the North Zone Intervarsity Badminton (Women) tournament organized by Chandigarh University from 14 to 17 October 2010 3. The University Volleyball team participated in North Zone Intervarsity Volleyball (Men) Tournament organized by Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra from 09.02.2011 to 15.02.2011.

Inter Hall Volleyball Tournament for the session 2010-11 was held from 5th to 7th March 2011. MM Hall was Winner and SS (North) Hall Runner s up. 5. Organized Summer Coaching Camp for University students and school boys. Basketball Club 1. AMU Basketball (Men) team participated in North Zone Intervarsity Basketball Tournament from 21.11.2010 to 24.11.2010 organized by C.S.J.M. University, Kanpur. 2. AMU Basketball (Men) team participated in The 50th Golden Jubilee Senior UP State Basketball Championship 2010 organized by U.P. Basketball Association from 04.10.2010 to 09.10.2010 held at Noida (UP) 3. AMU Basketball (Women) team participated in North East Zone Intervarsity Tournament organized by KIIT University, Bhubneshwar from 18th to 23rd October 2010 4. On the occasion of Republic Day celebrations, the Inter Hall Basketball tournament was held from 20th to 26th January 2011 at Basketball courts

University Games Committee. The final match was played between NRSC and VM Hall team on 26.01.2011. NRSC team won the championship after defeating VM Hall team. 5. AMU Basketball (Men) team participated K.C. Garg Memorial Basketball Tournament at Varshney College, Aligarh and reached the semifinals losing to Lucknow University. 6. AMU Basketball (Men) team participated in Maglatiyam University Basketball Tournament and reached the semifinal. 7. New changing room has been construction near the Courts. Table Tennis Club 1. Mr. Faisal Ali, member of AMU Table Tennis club was (1) Runner-up in 3rd UP State Table Tennis Ranking Championship (Junior Group) held at Lucknow in November 2010. (2) Winner in 3rd UP State Table Tennis Ranking Championship (Youth Group) held at Lucknow in November 2010. (3) Represented UP T.T. team in National Table Tennis Championship held at Ahmedabad (Gujarat). (4) Runners up (Junior Group) in UP State Championship held at Varanasi in December 2010. 2. AMU Table Tennis Men & Women Teams participated in North Zone Inter University Table Tennis Tournament 2010-11, organized by Uttarakhand Technical University, Dehradun from 04.01.2011 to 13.01.2011.

3. Table Tennis Club organized Inter Hall & Open University Championship from 01.03.2011 to 03.03.2011. The work of construction of Hockey Astroturf will soon commence. 3.90 crores has been released to CPWD by sports Authority of India. 2. The AMU Hockey team went to Jamia Millia Islamia University, New Delhi to participate in North Zone Intervarsity Hockey Tournament for the session from 26.12.2010 to 03.01.2011. The team lost to Kurukshetra University in the quarter final 3-0. They beat Kashmir University 5-0 and Dr. BR Ambedkar University Agra 4-0. In the quarter final some decisions of the umpires went against us, we made a protest against an ineligible player of the Kurukshetra University but without showing us any documents the protest was turned down by the organizers. The overall performance and discipline was good.

3. The team also went to Gonda to participate in Manzoor Alam (Manna Ustad) Memorial State Hockey tournament from 05.12.2010 to 08.12.2010. 4. Inter hall Hockey tournament was organized from 5.03.2011. Aftab Hall team was Winner and MM Hall was Runner up. 5. Exhibition Hockey Match with Zafar Iqbal XI (Comprising of Old Boys of AMU) at HRK Hockey Academy, Student Hockey Club Rampur was played and AMU Hockey team defeated Zafar Iqbal XI 4-2. 6. Summer Coaching was organized for University and School students. Hiking & Mountaineering Club 1. The Club conducted (10 Kms for Men and 05 Kms for Boys/Girls) National Integration Marathon Race on the occasion of Republic day Celebrations on 23.01.2011, in which more than 600 students participated. A large number of Female students also participated in the marathon race. 2. Two Students Mr. Abdul Bari and Mr. Gulam Jeelani were sent for Advance Mountaineering Course from 18.10.10 to 17.11.10 at HMI Darjeeling (WB). 3. Twenty students were sent for Adventure Mountaineering Course from 21 to 26 October 2010 held at Dehradun-Mussoorie Area (UK).

4. Twelve Students were sent for Basic Rock Climbing Course from 31.12.10 to 11.01.2011 held at Swami Vivekanand Mountaineering Institute Mount-Abu Rajasthan. 5. Twenty Students were sent for Adventure Mountaineering Course from 28.03.11 to 02.04.2011 held at Dehradun-Mussoorie Area (UK). 6. Two members of AMU Hiking & Mountaineering Club Mr. Suhail Ahmad and Mr. Mohd Hassan selected in XIX Common Wealth Games-Delhi 2010 as Volunteers. Riding Club 1. The AMU Riding team consisting M. Anas Raushan, Mohd Umair Khan Sherwani, Amir Ayaz Khan, Zainus Salikin Siddiqui, Talha Anees, Bilal Ahmad Siddiqui participated in Delhi Horse Show from 29.03.2011 to 11.04.2011 along with Six horses. Mr. Mohd Anas Raushan secured bronze and Mr. Mohd Umair Khan Sherwani secured Silver Medal in APRC Individual Tent Pegging event. 2. Organized 122nd Annual Riding show on 16.03.2011. Vice-Chancellor, Prof. P. K. Abdul Azis, was the Chief Guest on this memorable occasion. A large number of distinguished guests graced the occasion. The show was watched by a Large Gathering. UP mounted Police also participated in the event. Female riders also participated in various events. Our Riders won several Prizes in various events beating the UP mounted police riders. 3. The Club conducted Annual Riding Exam on 24.04.2011 in which many Riders (both boys & girls) passed the exam.

4. Organized Summer Coaching Camp for young Riders. 5. Mr. Mohd Anas Raushan, Captain Riding Club was selected for Republic Day NCC Riding Camp held at Delhi on occasion of Republic Day. Tennis Club 1 A.M.U. Tennis (Men) team participated in North Zone Inter University Tournament 2010-11 held at Aligarh Muslim University from 27.12.2010 to 02.12.2010 and qualified for All India Intervarsity after a gap of several years. The AMU Tennis team won the North Zone Intervarsity Tennis Championship after defeating Punjab University Chandigarh in Final. (3-0) Delhi University finished third. 2 The Tennis men team participated in All India Intervarsity Tennis Tournament organized by Banaras Hindu University Varanasi from 05.02.2011 to 09.02.2011. 3 The club organized Inter Hall Tennis Tournament from 25 th to 27 th February 2011. Teams from the various halls participated in the competitions. NRSC won the championship after defeating Hadi Hasan Hall team in final.

4 The work of fencing of Tennis Hard court is in progress and shall be completed very soon. 5 The Club organized Summer Coaching Camp for school children from 16.05.2011 to 03.06.2011. Boys and Girls from various Schools/college of Aligarh successfully completed summer training camp. Swimming Club 1. AMU Swimming team participated in All India Intervarsity Swimming Championship organized by University of Calcutta from 13.08.2010 to 22.08.2010. 2. Members of AMU Swimming team also participated in U.P. Junior Swimming Championship from 01.06.2010 to 04.06.2010 held at Lucknow. 3. Inter Hall and Open Swimming meet for Boys was held on 2 nd and 3 rd August 2010. Teams from various halls participated in various events 4. Inter Hall and Open Swimming meet for Girls was held on 02.08.2010. 5. The Club also organized Summer Coaching camp for various students of schools of Aligarh from 01..05.2011 6. Large numbers of students are coming regularly for Swimming in the Menston Swimming Pool from April to October.
