Mohawk Tales Newsletter November 11, 2016 Page 2 Club Shopkins! Do you love Shopkins? If you love everything Shopkins, then this is the club for you. Let's get together to trade, play and craft this monthly after school club will be held monthly with a rotating parent involvement. When: Mondays after school/monthly Dates: Starting first week of November Who: K-1st grades Pokemon Club! The PTO would like to run this popular club again. The club meets monthly and is open to all students 1st-5th grade. We are looking to run things a bit differently and use parent volunteers to rotate to run the club. We can either work this as a monthly or quarterly club if need be. Please contact Aria Cheney at siciliangypsygirl@yahoo.com if you can help make this club a success! If interested, please email Aria Cheney at siciliangypsygirl@yahoo.com with the following information: Your name: Student: Teacher: Phone number during club hours: Allergies: ESE/carpool: Thank you so much for the time and talents of the adult leaders who are willing to enrich our students lives! Holiday Light Recycling Drive Carmel Clay Schools Green Teams, City of Carmel Utilities, Tech Recyclers and White s Ace Hardware are working together to offer a Holiday Light Recycling Drive! From November 23th through January 9 th, you may drop off used holiday lights at White s Ace Hardware at 731 South Range Line Road, for recycling. The Mohawk Trails Green Team will also be accepting lights for recycling from November 28 th through January 5 th. You may drop them off in the box in the lobby of our school. This is the 5 th year of the program and district-wide, over two tons of holiday lights have been recycled! Recycling inoperable or inefficient holiday lights keeps those items out of landfills, which reduces the long term impact on our environment. When purchasing new lights, please keep in mind that EnergyStar rated LED lights use 75 percent less energy compared to conventional lights. They also have the following advantages: Safer: LEDs are much cooler than incandescent lights, reducing the risk of combustion or burnt fingers. Sturdier: LEDs are made with epoxy lenses, not glass and are much more resistant to breakage. Longer Lasting: The LED lights lasts 25 times longer than conventional holiday lights. Easier to install: Up to 25 strings of LEDs can be connected end-to end without overloading a wall socket. (Source: www.energy.gov) Consider upgrading to LED lights this holiday season. You will be helping the environment and saving in energy costs. And don t forget to recycle your old strings of lights! For more information about the Holiday light recycling program please call 317-571-2673.
