EVENT Details The Spirit of Cricket Global Challenge is a competition initiated by Cricket aimed at promoting the spirit of the game and celebrating the many friendships built through it. It will bring together many of the most prestigious and renowned for an event to be held in Sydney from the 7th until the 14th of January 2018 when cricket in Sydney will be buzzing with Australia and England competing for the coveted Ashes and the excitement of the BBL & WBBL will be in full swing. The competition will comprise of both a Men s and draw, with the first XI side set to be unveiled at the beginning of the competition. Competitors include: XI Marylebone Cricket Club Cricketer s Club of India Singapore Cricket Club Hong Kong Cricket Club SACA Singalese Cricket Club Izingari 3
SQUAD Requirements Each squad must nominate a tournament liaison manager who will deal with all communication in the lead up to and throughout the duration of the event. It is requested that each squad advises as to whether they will be bringing an umpire and/or a scorer as part of their touring party. It is requested that teams try to stay together during the competition in order to ensure logistical arrangements work without complication. Playing standard: 30-50 years old with experience at a reasonable level of cricket with the hope that each team will include 2/3 former first class cricketers and 4-5 former/current premier grade players. 4 5
GROUNDS is the home of the Sydney Cricket Club in the NSW Premier Cricket competition. A scenic venue located in the inner-west of Sydney on the banks of the Parramatta River, was voted in the top 2 grounds in Sydney in 2016/17. The venue is of a first class standard, being used in recent years in the Matador Cup domestic one-day competition. Sydney Cricket Ground The Sydney Cricket Ground is one of the most prestigious cricket venues in World Cricket. With its famously heritage listed Members and Ladies Stands, the game is steeped in tradition. It has been the scene to many of the most famous moments in Australian Cricket history including Bradman scoring 452 in a Sheffield Shield match against Queensland in 1930, the first day-night 50-over international in 1979, Michael Clarke blasting 329 in a Test against India in 2012 and Shane Warne and Glenn McGrath taking their final bows in 2007. Through over 150 years of history, including over 100 tests. Bradman Oval Bradman Oval is a picturesque ground located in the Southern Highlands of NSW, a short 90 minute drive south of Sydney where the great Sir Donald Bradman grew up and developed his game. The ground is a major tourist attraction with the Bradman Museum and ICC International Hall of Fame also situated on the precinct. Bradman Oval is a first class standard ground and as such is one of the most sought after playing venues in Australia. Coogee Oval Coogee Oval is one of the leading grounds used in the NSW Premier Cricket competition by the Randwick/ Petersham Cricket Club. Located in the eastern suburbs of Sydney, Coogee Oval is a stone s throw from Sydney s iconic Coogee Beach. It is a venue which has a rich history in hosting major cricketing and rugby fixtures. Camden Park The home ground of I Zingari Australia, is a picturesque ground located an hour south of Sydney. Surrounded by a beautiful Australian bush setting, Camden Park represents a true experience of playing Cricket in country Australia. 6 7
EVENTS Welcome drinks at the - an informal event to be held at Tea during the 4th day of the Sydney Ashes test with drinks and cocktail food to be provided. Gala Dinner - a formal dinner for all Spirit of Cricket Global Challenger participants and Members in celebration of the Spirit of Cricket. A number of special guests will be in attendance to talk about their experiences through playing cricket. BBL Cocktail Function: Sydney Sixers v Sydney Thunder at the to be held in the Members Reserve for all Spirit of Cricket Global Challenger players and supporters. 8 9
PLAYING Conditions Sydney Cricket Association playing conditions to be used for all fixtures with the exceptions of: 12 40 players over powerplay One batting non-bowler, one bowling non-batter. First 10 overs of each innings. 40 t20 over fixtures Bowlers to bowl a maximum of 8 overs. Standard t20 rules apply. Duckworth-Lewis to be applied in the event of wet weather during the competition. Red Kookaburra Regulation balls to be used in all fixtures. Teams can wear either whites or colours depending on their preference. 10 11
