Benefit Dinner& Golf Tournament September 25 & 26, 2014 A Decade on the Green
Celebrating 10 Years of Giving The Kent Kirkorian Memorial Golf Tournament was established nine years ago by the Kirkorian and Brodnik families in memory of their beloved father Kent who passed away in September 2004. On this tenth anniversary of his passing, we celebrate Kent s life and his love of golf with family and longtime and new friends while raising funds to support Hospice of the Valley s mission. Since 2005, this signature golf tournament has raised over $775,000 benefiting Hospice of the Valley s compassionate services and programs. We are so proud of this achievement and the community s generous support of this worthy cause. Kent Kirkorian NOVEMBER 25, 1938 SEPTEMBER 13, 2004 Those who knew Kent Kirkorian the entrepreneur, business man, contractor, and draftsman loved and respected him. Kent was larger than life and was known to throw himself into his work and endeavors. Whether it was designing or constructing buildings, his love of vehicles, or his passion for toy trains, he was a dynamo. At the end of the day, he was a devoted husband and family man and Papa Train to his five grandchildren. In the early years, Kent created oil paintings of landscapes, animals, and barns. He would leverage his artistic talent to help design buildings for the family s major development, the Kirkwood Plaza shopping center on Campbell Avenue. With hammer and saw, he worked alongside his father to help bring his drawings to life. In 1958, Kent met Marleen, and they were married in 1960. They raised two sons and a daughter who would be brought into the family business gradually and learned the importance of giving back and community service early in life. Kent owned the family business since his father s death in 1988. He completely renovated and modernized Kirkwood Plaza and four-plexes his father had began building in 1959. Kent s impact and support of Hospice of the Valley and other community organizations have been magnanimous. He lived and led by example and his remarkable legacy continues to live on through his family, grandchildren, and longtime friends.
