PLEASE FOLLOW ALL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS PROVIDED IN THIS MANUAL BEFORE OPERATION. ARROWQUIP DOES NOT ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY ACCIDENTS OR INJURY WHEN THIS SAFETY MANUAL HAS NOT BEEN READ IN FULL AND KEPT WITH THE PRODUCT AT ALL TIMES. OPERATORS OF THIS PRODUCT TAKE AND ACCEPT RESPONSIBILTY FOR ANY HARM OR INJURY TO THE ANIMAL OR OPERATOR WHEN IT PERTAINS TO HOW THE EQUIPMENT IS BEING USED AND MAINTAINED. Please keep this manual for frequent reference and to pass on to new users or owners. 1. General Description of the Com-Catch 61 Series Manual Squeeze Chute Com-Catch 61 Series squeeze chute is a compact version of our Q-Catch 86 Series. The Com-Catch design has been proven to excel in safety, efficiency, and ease of operation. It was developed with the intention to create a range of chutes that are easy, safe, and enjoyable to use. The smooth action, infinite locking head gate and squeeze are the cornerstone of Com-Catch design; delivering efficient operation every time. When our engineers reviewed the design to create the Com-Catch Series, we stuck to the quick, quiet, quality philosophy and sought out innovative ways to make it even easier to operate, stronger, and eliminate potential problems through effective design. 1

2. Safety Precautions PLEASE TAKE SAFETY PRECAUTIONS MENTIONED HEREIN. ANY HARM TO THE ANIMAL OR INJURY TO THE OPERATOR DUE TO HOW THE PRODUCT IS OPERATED, OR RESULTING FROM A LACK OF SAFETY PRECAUTIONS ARE THE SOLE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE OPERATOR. All farming machinery and equipment is potentially dangerous. Careless use of any of Arrowquip s livestock equipment may cause injury or damage to persons, cattle, or property. Arrowquip has taken care in the design and manufacturing of this product to ensure it is safe and user-friendly. The user must, therefore, assume all responsibility and risk associated with the possession and use of the cattle squeeze chute. WARNING: READ BELOW BEFORE OPERATION. Ensure the operator understands the contents of this manual before using the cattle squeeze chute. 1. Do not wear loose-fitted clothing. 2. Ensure the cattle squeeze chute is on a firm, level, dry surface which is free of rocks and other trip hazards. A level concrete pad flush with the ground, with the chute, and bolted to the concrete is strongly recommended. 3. Do not stand in front of the head gate while operator is moving the cattle through the squeeze chute. 2

4. Please follow safe cattle handling procedures in other areas of the yard so that cattle are more docile in the cattle squeeze. Non-factory modifications to our equipment can reduce the safety of the operator. 5. DO NOT ALLOW CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 18 IN CLOSE PROXIMITY OF AN OPERATING MACHINE. 3. Risk Assessment Conduct a risk assessment on procedures for which the cattle squeeze chute used and establish a safe work procedure. 1. Ensure all users of the equipment have been inducted and comply with safe working procedure. 2. Some chemicals and medicines can damage paint. Take all precautions and wash after use if necessary. 3. Please ensure that there are NO large hazardous objects inside the chute that may cause injury to the animal or operator. 4. Make sure that your chute has been cleared of ALL livestock after use. 3

4. Com-Catch 61 Series Cattle Chute Assembly Your chute will come fully assembled with the options you have ordered already fitted to the chute. However, it may be necessary to dismantle some parts for freight or other reasons. The following guide will help you to properly reassemble your chute. ASSEMBLING THE COM-CATCH MECHANISM Fit the mechanism parts as shown in the diagram below: 1 - COM-CATCH DOOR 2 - COM-CATCH ROLLER BOLT 3 - COM-CATCH TRACK SHAFT 4 - COM-CATCH ROLLER 9 5 - LONG HAMMER 6 - TOWER CONTROL ARM 7 - TOWER SHAFT 8 - GREASE ZERK 9 - SHORT HAMMER 4

5. Operating the Head Gate REMEMBER SAFETY WHEN OPERATING THE HEAD GATE Ensure all gates and head gate are closed before the animal enters the chute. Open rear sliding (or entry) gate for the animal to enter the squeeze chute enclosure. Close sliding gate. Open head gate slightly more than the neck size of the animal to tempt the animal to stick its head through the head gate. When neck of animal is in the correct position, quickly close the head gate securely on the animal s neck. If required, side squeeze animal and secure head sweep into position to restrain further movement. If the animal applies excessive pulling pressure on head gate, it is advisable to install anti-backing bar behind cattle rump. Confirm animal is securely held before carrying out any husbandry work. JOO.Sin 5

6. Recommended Maintenance Arrowquip manual squeeze chutes are made with precision parts. However, regular maintenance is needed to keep your chute running smoothly and safely. 1. Keep grease nipples on control handle greased. 2. Clean bottom head gate door tracks to prevent dirt build up. 3. Check mechanism pivot bolts for wear and replace or lubricate as necessary. 4. Clean and lubricate main locking shaft doors as necessary 5. Inspect for signs of mechanical damage, and ensure gates are locking securely. 7. Warranty IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING YOUR WARRANTY: You must be registered to claim your warranty and to ensure that if Arrowquip needs to recall a part pertaining to your equipment that Arrowquip has the required information to do so. Any owner of any piece of equipment who fail to do so voluntarily void their warranty. NOTE: Any modification, in any fashion to any of Arrowquip s equipment immediately voids the warranty. This includes the parts contained therein. EXAMPLE: If a modification is done to the squeeze mechanism in a squeeze chute and the sternum bar is bent afterwards, warranty for the part (sternum bar) contained in the modified equipment (squeeze chute) is void as well as the squeeze chute and other parts contained therein (including but not limited to - head gate, locking system, Q-Catch system, rollers, etc.) 6

Troubleshooting Guide If you have a problem with your Com-Catch squeeze chute, please consider the following pointers, or call us at 1-866-383-7827. 1. To ensure proper operation make sure head gate is situated on level ground or base. 2. If head gate has minimal use over extended periods, this may cause head gate doors to become stiff to operate and the releasing mechanism may be difficult to release. This can be easily fixed by a light lubrication of roller bolts (see item 2 on page 4) and Com-Catch Track shaft (see item 3 on page 4) with WD40. Lubricate rollers by spraying a shot on lubricant directly onto the Com-Catch roller bolts on each side of Com-Catch roller, work each head gate door back and forth to work lubricant into rollers. Lubricate Com-Catch Track Shaft by spraying a clean rag with WD40 until damp, take rag and wrap it around head gate shaft and using a sliding action go back and forth a couple of times. You will need to do this while the head gate doors are closed, and with the head gate doors open to ensure that the entire shaft is lubricated. 7

3. Make sure head gate door tracks are free of debris to ensure proper operation. 4. Excess build-up of manure or dirt inside chute can cause malfunction of squeeze and chute doors. 5. If the Com-Catch doors are not locking, please ensure that the Com-Catch Track shaft is free of any oil, grease, or dirt. Sometimes it may be necessary to clean the Com-Catch Track shaft and Com-Catch rollers with brake cleaner. Note: this may involve disassembly of the Com-Catch Chute. 6. The Com-Catch doors allow removal of locking cell to ensure proper cleaning. Check for wear of the Com-Catch Track shaft, as severe wear may cause friction lock to malfunction. Check nuts and bolts and ensure that they are tightened correctly. Too tight will cause the locking and releasing of head gate doors to malfunction. Too loose will cause premature wear on head gate parts. On the Com-Catch head gate there is a short hammer and long hammer between head gate handle pivot and head gate doors. These two hammers have a slot in them - check that there is free movement for the length of this slot, and the lock nuts are correctly tightened. These hammers also contact the release pins on the lock plates when the head gate handle is pulled back. Check there is an air gap between levers and release pins when head gate handles is being pushed or in an idle position. 8
